Hiya. There’s two reason for me subscribing, 1 is because you’re a fellow brummie and 2 because you’ve joined the Tin Can club. You’ll soon hear this phrase from critics of Springer boats. The slur is because they were built using mostly just 5mm steel all around whereas most narrowboats are built with thicker steel under the water linel but what the critics fail to mention is that Springers were built with high quality British steel and as you say Little Winnie is 45 years old and has only lost 2mm. But …. Whilst she’s okay for the foreseeable future I’d have her surveyed every time that she is out for blacking. My Springer is due out this year and the last survey did put notice on one section of the hull that may need attention if not this time she is out then next time. Putting all that aside I think that you’ve bought a cracking boat there and I’m sure that you’ll be as happy with her as I’m with mine.

What size is yours and was it pricey,was into the scooter scene for years so love the freedom of getting about but as I've got older fancy the canals and rivers instead of the dangerous roads... Will keep an eye out once I'm on I will be buzzing around the Macclesfield and Peak canals till I get used to it and settled with the boat. Probably go under the name of the .. Macclesfield Kroozer after the scooter club I was in ... have get a couple of big red L plates at first lol

i was thinking of a boat a few years ago' when looking for one i came across life boats that have never been used they were going for 3K to 5k i should have done it but stay'd with campervans. good luck with it xx
