That’s the tastiest lens I’ve come across so far. ;-) I definitely prefer the 1.4 over the 1.2 because of the superior autofocus speed and IS. Nice intro btw.
Nice video! The 1.2 w it's focus by wire system is buttery smooth for video work... manual only of course... not sure I'd buy the 1.4 but would like to try it out via renting.
zosozoso2 - it's the smoothest turning lens I own...it's my favorite lens due to how smooth it turns forfocus... more to mportantly, it's whisper quiet, so you don't hear thefoucus maneuvers in the video using the on camera mic. Using a focus puller or your fingertip, your fine. ( notice I said fingertip...yes, you don't need to grasp the focus with your hand to turn... just one fingertip
mikewinburn I believe that with both the Canon f/1.2 and the f/1.4 being USM lenses they have full time manual over ride. The STM lenses are the focus by wire type which are normally better for video, being quieter.
So is it good for filming at night because of how much light comes in? I was really admiring that last shot of the woman in the yoga/dance pose, and I thought the lighting looks really nice on her.
Hi matthiew Do you have some focus inconsistency at f1.4 sometimes? I have some when light is not really good. The thing is that my wife 85 Art works better in these conditions... I would say that with an average light (inside a house), focus is about 50% ok.
It was worse if he was like " Hello my name is Matthew Filsdeputte..", for a lot of people.... ok, different name... but for those who speak french... lol( keep up the amaaaaazing work!)
I got the canon EF 85mm F1.8 lens and this 85Mmm F1.4L is fantastic lens to get
I have been wanting this lens. Thank you for your review, it is moving me so much closer to purchasing it.

I have the 1.2, but the image stabilizer is something that I love
excellent video mate. glad to hear AF is faster than the 1.2 - not that it would be hard :P
Need to get this lens.
That is a beautiful piece of glass!!
NICE MATT!!!! Also, I cannot wait for the Singapore vlog 😍

Damn, now I really want this lens
Keen to get my hands on one these
Nice work Matthew. I want this lens now!
I used the Canon 85mm f/1.8 for a short while. It focuses very quickly but I wasn't totally impressed with the sharpness. How does the 1.4 compare?
Hahaha, caculated by the... fuck me 😁😂
Superb opening sequence 👍🏻
Great video! Thank you!!!

Definitely worth trying it out!
Im thinking getting the 85mm 1.2, but I wonder how well the focus works in manual for video, is it good?

I love the Dutch accent.
Hey Matt. Awesome video. Quick qns. When you converted the 100 fps to real time what was the speed used? Was it same for all the clips?
my copy does have clicking sound when IS is on. It’s noise is quite noticeably loud in a quiet place. does anyone have the same ?
This lens is tasty
