You know every movie in the 80’s or 90’s seemed to have cartoon made out of it. So I can’t help, but wonder how Andre would have been if a Saturday Morning Style Gremlins Cartoon Series had existed back then.
I’m excited that we are getting an origin for the gremlins species! I know there was that explanation in the film novel but I never knew if that was canon or not
They actually do explain in this series why he's called "Gizmo" by 1920's Sam Wing. It is basically because his real name sorta-kinda sounds like "Gizmo" but is unpronounceable in any human language. It's just an interesting coincidence that Rand Peltzer also calls him that in the original movie.
Ah Andre, seeing your huge Gremlin Love and exactment is always such a joy to watch. Honestly this animated Gremlin show doesn't looks that bad and could maybe , probably be pretty real nice. Really out of all of the old school IPs and Franchises that are being rebooted or when it comes to remakes and so forth, I'm very surprised Gremlins hasn't been one of them yet given all these other reboot movies and spin-offs.
I'm happy they're making this. We will get to know the shopkeeper himself from the classic film, and I like the mogwai is given a cute, magical but demonic backstory. I heard about novels saying they're from outer space, but I know it seems wrong.
Love your enthusiasm for this franchise! I was beginning to wonder if I was the only Gremlins fanatic out there! I literally subscribed to Max just to watch this, and was not disappointed. I was really happy that the Gremlins themselves get to live long enough to develop their own unique personalities and talents, something that was touched upon in the second film but not enough for my liking. The animation style also gives them highly expressive faces and movements. Love your shirt, too, by the way, but I'm still looking for that Gremlins Christmas sweater like the one Ozzy Osbourne has.
I really really loved Gizmo when i was a child and i still love Gizmo today I'm so pleased they are doing something for Gremlins in this day and age i hope they continue to make more stuff for Gremlins.😊😊😊👍👍

This probably a sweet heaven for The People who created this Cartoon (because fun fact: created These Animatronics, Especially Gizmo was a Nightmare to created, and also The Dog think they are real, so at that The Scene when Gizmo popped up The Mum is actually not acting when she try hold The Dog back so The Dog won’t Ripped Gizmo in Half with it’s teeth)

I don’t feel comfortable installing the app or making a new account, though. I’m certainly glad Secrets of the Mogwi is coming out! But for now…still hesitant about WBD… That all being said… I really really am so happy about this!!!

I hadn’t seen this drop (and wasn’t even aware of the new Max monicker) and while I do agree that Gizmo looks adorable I can see the Chinese animation aesthetic in the rest of the character designs. And while I’ve only seen a handful of Chinese animated films I find that they look gorgeous but don’t translate well for American audiences storywise. Here’s hoping this is a true collaboration between Chinese design and American storytelling🤞🤞🤞
I reinstated my HB-er, I mean, Max subscription specifically for this show, and I'm so glad to see it spared from David Zaslav's Thanos snap. (Seriously, though, they should've changed the name to "Warner Max" instead of just "Max", since the parent company IS called *Warner Bros.* Discovery...) Also, interesting how the gremlins spawning from Gizmo just go straight to being gremlins, instead of becoming evil Mogwais first like they do in the movies.
There are some cute moments when you can understand what Giz is saying, or at least get the gist of it. Probably the funniest is when Sam asks him if the newly-created Mogwai are his sons/daughters or siblings, or what, and his response is, "uhhhmmm, it's complicated".
I'm happy they appear to be not going with the book origin story - That Mogwai are from space and created by Mogturmen. Gizmo having a perfect inner monologue throughout all that was kind of weird, considering that he speaks gibberish.
There was a jiangshi (an undead Chinese creature with traits of both zombies and vampires) in that trailer. I’m guessing that they’re going to be fighting a lot of mythical Chinese creatures.
They do indeed run up against all sorts of supernatural creatures from Chinese/Asian folklore, that most people have never heard of, so we get an introduction to those.
They made a mistake, since this show takes place before the Mogwai met Billy dad. Billy dad who is an inventor named the Mogwai Gizmo. The name Gizmo is an inventor word for gizmo and gatchets when it comes to their tools for creation. You would think that the creators of this show would do some research first before making a show.
