I love that you don’t drown your narrations with invasive music and sound effects, but use them to enhance your stories. I love your different accents and when you read a female part, you’re so good that I immediately envisage a female speaking the words. Thank you for your hard work. I feel like screaming from the bloody roof tops about how amazing this channel is! You are an actor director, you do the sound effects and stuff yourself or maybe you have staff, you are such a creative person and I would not be exaggerating to say genius and you’re a writer! I have heard SoundEffects done before, overtime done to bits and it’s distracting but you know exactly where to put them and the music and everything that you choose goes so well with the story! I have not left comment before because I didn’t want to bother you but just don’t reply if you’re busy are you don’t have to give me a like! Just give us more stuff and I tried to Wikipedia the new author you’re going to do Betsy Taylor, this may be wrong, So I would love it if you could put in what era she wrote in, You did that with one of your last stories and I really appreciate it but you don’t have to do that I can always Wikipedia somebody but not everybody is on Wikipedia I should’ve googled her! That’s an idea actually! It’s just nice to know what era book that you’re listening to is set in! Now Mr genius I will leave you in peace and try to leave shorter comments which is difficult for me because once I start writing........Besides finishing the piano, and getting qualified as a bloody hairdresser, that’s all I’m good at except my spiritual stuff and I love paranormal stuff.... So I did it surviving on such little And I asked my dad for a boob job for my birthday, He was seeing young escorts with a massive breast implants and he had left my mother, she’d had a b cup, so I manipulated him emotionally into giving me larger breasts! I grew up when every child was obsessed with becoming Katie Price! I had so much filler in my lips that look like Donald fucking duck!!! It has all dissolved now but when I get old I’m getting a face lift, I remember making that decision when I was a child, Watching old ladies like Joan Collins looking fabulous I know some people overdo it but I will not be one of those! Plus I want to know is George because my ex-boyfriend punched me once when he was drunk, it turns out that somebody was trying to date rape him because they had put something in his drink because he was not himself that night! Anyway I’m a Libra so we appreciate beauty in all its forms, and this is beautiful writing and a beautiful channel and I think that you should advertise it more or something! More people need to know how good this channel is! I already have my friends listening and they will get their friends to listen and so on! The strange thing about me Jasper is that I don’t like to watch horror films, but I love these stories... It doesn’t make any sense!?! Does it! Another excellent tale told by the master. There was one detail I found a bit distracting and would have liked to ask the author about: I realise this was written in a bygone era when children were not mollycoddled as perhaps they are today, but wasn’t it a bit Spartan to make the poor boy live in the garden, with only a roof for a home? Even dogs in their kennels get four walls as well. Not only that, his aunt and uncle wouldn’t even let him live in their garden, the poor little sod had to live in someone else’s garden!
Thanks for your questions...to which I have no definitive answers, only thoughts. (1) This is the era of prescribing fresh air for serious conditions, so perhaps they were looking for maximum air. (2) It's just a narrative contrivance so he can be outside at night and see what's going on, but then again (3) the Bensons were an eccentric bunch and this story feels like it might have autobiographical elements, so maybe E.F. actually did sleep outside. EDIT: just Googled and Edwardian children were indeed sleeping in tents and huts with one wall missing to let the air in. Treatment for respiratory problems (often due to the polluted air in cities).

Read this many years ago. Brilliant work on this 👏 👍 so thanks very much. At his best Benson holds his own with James. Can we have "the horror horn"? (we are a greedy audience). So many of these stories are by chaps who as it used to say in the papers "never married". However when introduced to them as kids or by introducing them to our own children...they become part of the family.
Likewise, Stephen. I started the channel after rediscovering my love for horror short stories about a year ago - and I think I was rekindling childhood a bit. I will add The Horror Horn to my (rapidly expanding) list.

These "spook story" channels seem to be a growing "thing". Its a bit like what enjoying radio dramas must have been like. A bit disconcerting hearing someone from california talking about forgotten railway stations in Norfolk! Lol. Suggestion....it might be an idea to do Machens "the white people". And get a woman to actually read the "green book" part. I've said this before - to others, with no luck. Think it could be a very special contribution to your channel if you could pull it off. It is after all one of the seminal "weird tales" of the last century. The "Dunwich" brothers posh anglo Welsh gran.

It's what's delayed my doing Machen so far, because producing the longer stories feels like climbing Everest! Great idea about The White People btw. I shall, down the line, reach out to female narrators.

Please don't worry or apologise. Sometimes there's such a lot of information in your posts that I don't know where to start my response 😂. But I always appreciate it. Different personality types, isn't it? Some people will just let their thoughts pour out (probably good for a person, a kind of spiritual enema). I sometimes have a lot to say, but always edit as I go along; as I type my thumb instinctively moves to the backspace/delete key (probably not good, psychologically). Others just put "Love it. Thanks" or nothing at all. And I think "I spent seven hours making the video and that's all you can write?!?" But they're probably the happiest, sanest people of all. Tl;dr: I want to create a chilled space on the Internet where people can enjoy the content and express themselves as they see fit, while sharing a taste for old timey horror.

It’s just I see you as a type of role model if you like because you are the embodiment of a creative genius and I don’t know if you can see that but I recognise it! I’ve always been able to see in others what they would be able to thrive at! And when On the occasions that people have taken my advice they have succeeded! If somebody wants to be a singer and I think they’ve got a shit voice I will tell them straight this is not for you and I will ask them what else they feel passionate about. Sometimes there’s nothing to tell Someone and It’s something for them to find out for them selves. I go to psychotherapy and have done for years and years my father started it when he stopped drinking, just before my parents divorce where the bastard moved all of his money abroad so my mother couldn’t get half!! The whole town went on strike so my father built my mother her own home with lots of land and horses and gave her a decent alimony and even though we are grown-ups he continues to give her the same amount which barely feeds her bloody horses nowadays, and bloody dogs of which she has about 20 mostly German Shepherds and Dobermans as she lives alone in the countryside, 2 miles to the nearest house! My point is that at psychotherapy, (see I did it again!) At psychotherapy I learned that “what other people think of me is none of my business, and it’s none of their bloody business either” so that has made me look like a fucking idiot more than I would like because I think I took that belief too much to heart! I’m doing it again but what I wanted to say to you was that you are amazingly talented! So many people don’t know what they want to do with their lives, you are definitely somebody who if they wanted would be an amazingly successful Best selling author specialising with audiobooks I hope! And I wouldn’t tell you this if I thought differently! I was just settling down to another one of your stories as I got your message, for some reason when I get RUclips notifications it doesn’t make a sound! So I check every few hours!
