    Hunter I am a high school principal and mom of 5 grown babies. My husband was the true Rockstar helping me. You two are the same age as our children and you are are killing it! God love you both. I also had no success with breast feeding until baby number 3. Be kind on yourself and all my kids survived whether breast or bottle fed.

    DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO’VE HAD A SUCCESSFUL TIME WITH BREASTFEEDING TELL YOU TO KEEP GOING BECAUSE ITS YOUR BODY AND YOUR EXPERIENCE. I was the same way and when it took a huge toll on my mental health, I immediately switched to formula. I not only listened to my mind but also my soul and body. And it was the best decision to make for my family. Breastfeeding is such a beautiful thing and you’ve got to try it and experience it. It’s not for everyone and THATS OKAY! You both are doing such an amazing job with smoke it’s so beautiful to watch! This journey was made for y’all! Sending lots of love and peaceful vibrations! ✨💜💐

      I had a very similar experience. Everyone around me, including my pediatri cian husband, my lactation consultatnt mother, and my baby's pediatrician telling me the wonders of breastfeeding, and how much my body would produce milk if only I would *push* myself a little more. Then whne I switched to pumping it was just worse, those were some of the darkest times in my entire motherhood. THem moment my baby's pediatrican noticed I was falling into a n emitional hole and she said " I"d rather you go with formula than continue on this path, yout baby will be just fine" I felt the permission to end all breasfeeeding efforts. THe moment I switched to formula it was like a stormy dark cloud was removed from my vision and I began enjoying motherhood finally. ONe of my few regrets from motherhood was not listening to my own toughts and feelings, and having to follow everyone else's opinion.

    Giving your baby the bottle does not make you a bad mom. I had no desire to breastfeed my 2 kids, I had always planned on bottle feeding, and that does not make me a bad mom!! My kids are 13 and 16, so it’s been awhile, but it really upsets me to see how much pressure is on mom’s to breastfeed these days. You’re an amazing mom no matter how you choose to feed your sweet baby!!💗

    Breast feeding is a job in itself. I had a harder time with my second baby bc she wasn’t feeling the whole latch on thing after the first couple of months.
    I would encourage you to continue to pump and bottle feed him. Go as long as your body allows you to.
    If you get to the point where you have to start feeding him formula, obviously pick the best one and don’t feel guilty for it! You’re doing a great job 🩷

    Hi Juj! Please know that BF is not for every mother or every baby. You will make the right choice for you and your family and that’s all that matters. Please don’t feel like anyone will judge. I want to give you other side perspective. I chose not to BS. Many reasons why, to name a few- so my husband and I can be a 50/50 team. He got up in the night to formula feed as much as I did, we traveled the world with babies no problem, they slept through the night from birth, and best of all they NEVER got sick and still don’t. Our girls are now 7 and 9 and both crazy smart, advanced beyond in their school work. I just wanted to shine a light that there is absolutely nothing wrong with formula feeding. Hugs to you and Hunter. ❤

    I’m honestly just proud of you as a woman for even trying to breast-feed. It is something very very tough to do and it’s very mentally straining. I went through the same things, but I ended up choosing to exclusively pump for the first 6 months.. and then I tried nursing again and it’s been going pretty well so far but I know not all women can do that and not all babies can do that, so I support you no matter what! I know we don’t know each other but I am praying for you to make whatever decision is best for you and your baby boy! A fed baby is best no matter how they eat! ❤

    When I read these verses the other day I couldn't help but think of you guys: Psalm 139:13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me -Smoke-first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s -Julia-womb.
    I thank you, High God-you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I, Smoke, am Marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration-What a Creation!
    You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
    You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
    Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
    The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.

So sweet what hunter was saying in beginning… a lot of people without anxiety doesn’t understand how hard it is mentally to struggle with breastfeeding.. my first who is 17 I cried and struggled for months and went to formula. With my second whose 12 my milk never came in went straight to formula and it was such a better experience mentally. Don’t let people get u down . I’ve always heard fed is best .. both are healthy kids

    I also struggled with breastfeeding my twins and I feel like I struggled the most with trying to keep up with the persona of being a breast feeder. Everyone would always ask and tell me how much better it was but once I let go of the pressure from everyone else . I realized that what’s best for my babies was just to feed them and have them happy. Regardless they are happy and healthy regardless of breast milk or formula. It doesn’t make you less than of a mother!!
    I was a better mother and a happier mother once I let go of the pressure!

    I felt the same way with breast feeding. I did not realize how much of a physical and mental toll it took on my body until I stopped. I breastfed while going into the office full time so I had to pump at work and it was very emotional. Once we got him on formula and the bottle, our whole family literally felt a burden lifted. I’m pregnant with my second now and have already decided I’m going to do formula and the peace I feel is amazing.

The fact that you keep trying is commendable. Just don't be too hard on yourself as long as he is feeding you're getting the job done. Hunter: WOw. What a man you are!! Your mama and daddy must be so proud. Bravo to them for raising such an incredible man that you have become. Loving compassionate understanding sensitive I could go on and on. I am blessed too I also have a husband with all those qualities. We have been together since high school. High school sweethearts. Together 26 years and married 19 this September. Our kids are 18,16,11,5. One with special needs. It is a lot of work but so so rewarding. Best thing in life is being a parent and watch them grow up and be their own persons. You are doing incredible. Both of you. Incredible parents. It’s a learning process and it all comes together. No worries. There will be tears laughs and giggles and tempers will rise at times. Give yourself grace. You have each other to lean on and love. Communication is key let each other know each other’s 3P’s. ( partner percentage placement). We teach this to couples. If Ju is at 20% and you’re good to take on the 80% of the day to get her through the day. And some days you may both be at 20% and that’s ok. When that happens it’s time to sit as a couple and come up with a plan so each other is getting along no tension and it will work out. We send so much love and strength from our channel Kimberley & Scooter Jamieson/ 6breakingloose ❤. YOU GOT THIS!!!!

    Just want to reach through the screen and tell you that you're doing fine - little Smokey is so dog gone cute and so alert and aware of his surroundings. It's a joy to watch Hunter enjoy his son, and wonder what kind of man will he be...........Smoke has a father who loves him, and (of course) mommy too - that's the makings of a good man right there. So, life has changed for both of you - take some time during the day to meditate/pray about all the things on your heart, and wisdom will come to you, and guide you.

    The best thing I did for myself was stop pumping/breastfeeding and switch fully to formula. I KNOW all the benefits of breast milk…but there are even more benefits with a happy and relaxed momma ❤ give yourself grace. You’re doing a great job! And it will all be okay.

    Your feelings regarding BF/pumping are so valid! I wanted to BF so badly but my girl wouldn’t latch so I switched to exclusively pumping after about a week and continued pumping until my daughter was 6 months old. I had an oversupply so she got my milk until 9 months but I ended up having to stop pumping due to moving and my husband being gone so much that I literally had no time. The fight is hard but when we switched to formula, I was a HAPPIER mom so just know that is all Smokey needs. You WILL still have that bond with him even without BF so take a breath and know it will be ok❤

    My first baby my son refused to nurse. I tried everything. He just straight refused. I didn’t even pump. I dried up and he got formula for a year. He had extreme jaundice and made it so hard him being sent home in a light bed with a light blanket and couldn’t be held other than for feeding or diaper changes. My 2nd baby daughter nursed the second she was born and did so for almost a year. If it doesn’t happen it doesn’t. Moms put wayyyyy too much pressure on themselves with breast feeding. I applaud you for pumping. That’s essentially two feedings in one. So much work to pump then feed. Oh my gosh I couldn’t imagine but get it for your baby.

    Wow this was so real and raw, thank you for sharing the beautiful journey of being parents. It’s not easy revealing that vulnerability. I always feel this stage that y’all are currently in, to be the hardest one, physically and hormonally taxing. So be encouraged that this is a HARD stage, and y’all are doing AMAZING. But also seriously no pressure to keep up the amazingness 24/7 😆🤪 The nursing journey was hard for me too, not so much with the feedings(although that was hard) but the weening. it took a while for my hormones and body to adjust. The fatigue is a killer, it attacks your confidence in your parenting and how well your doing at life like no other. Don’t believe it, you’re doing aMAZing❤❤❤ look at how healthy and comfortable that baby is ❤❤

    It was sooo hard to breastfeed my son that I decided why keep doing that to myself and I chose to pump and give him my milk which to me helped sooo much mentally because then I knew how much milk he was drinking which gave me peace of mind. No matter what you’re doing great Momma!

    ❤Hunter from what I see you are doing a great job as a father and husband. You both have such great nurturing skills. And Julia if u decide you don’t want to breast feed anymore that’s ok. One thing you did was try and those first 6 weeks are so important and u did that and then some. I know us mothers totally understand. Thanks for sharing and Smoke grows so fast every time I see him. Hang in there! The fun is only just starting.

    Hola 👋 🌟 You are rocking parenting guys! Sometimes we’re so hard on ourselves that we don’t see the value of our efforts. I have a 2 months old baby girl. I’m living the same experience simultaneously. My advice one day at a time. That how I see it. The best thing we have is a day after another day. Sending love from Pensacola, Florida. 🤗🏝️

    Julia, please take care of yourself mama. This new mom thing is no joke. It can play with your emotions time I'm happy to see an involved dad in Hunter, never doubted he would be, but I understand the pressure that's suddenly fallen upon You. It's a type of weight that not even with the most helpful, supportive and lovin g partner in the world you could ease. I recognize your words and remember that exhaustion that seemed to have no end. If I can give you any adivce, because I went tyhrough that, is talk to someone who knows, a therapist, gineco, whoever that could guide you. Sending lots of love.

    I ended up exclusively pumping with both of my kiddos! I never knew nursing could be so difficult. I ended up investing in the willow used both the reusable containers and the bags- you can even nap if you’re using the bags! You can get so much more housework done too.

    Julia don’t worry or pressurize yourself on breastfeeding if it does not work for you don’t worry you have given him a great start by pumping your own milk and he takes a bottle which is great you could try some formula if pumping is getting difficult. Sending love I breastfed 2 of my 4 babies but it was difficult. Xxx ❤

    Not sure how it works in the US (I'm in Australia) but can you have a lactation consultant come to your house and help with the breastfeeding if it's important to you? They can help the baby latch and teach you how to make it work. They say, and I also found, that pumping milk doesn't draw out as much milk as when the baby breastfeeds so don't feel like you're not producing enough milk or it's not happening for you. If breastfeeding is not working out for you, it's OK to stop too. You're doing your best and only want the best for Smoky, that's all that matters.
