Rover Mini SPi 95' Stepper Motor Operation

Operation of the stepper motor in which I open the throttle 5 times, then switch on the ignition, then turn back off again.

My car is a Rover 414 SLi '94 version. The idle of the engine is erratic, almost stalls sometimes. It has alloy inlet manifold.
I think this will work in my car too, to reset it. What do you think?
