Well TBS added that feature to Crossfire as well and I set it up to dynamic power for channel 6 on my Tango as example where middle pos is armed, everything else disarmed - however I set "arm" and one of the "disarm" to dynamic power to have a chance to remain telemetry if I ever want to disarm the quad a kilometer away. I don't see Multi-Bind. We have 8 or 9 Crossfire (OpenTX + a couple of Futabas) controllers and countless Crossfire drones. It's so handy to be able to pick up any controller and fly any drone. My partner likes the Tango II and I like the larger Radiomaster T16 and Futaba 14SG. Of course configuration and channel assignments have to be the same on every drone, but that just makes life easy in and of itself.
Multi-bind is so integral to ELRS they don't even call it a feature. Binding is controlled by the binding phrase. Flash the same binding phrase to any number of modules and any number of receivers, and they all will bind when powered up. Of course, you can only power up one at a time, but that's to be expected. I have the same binding phrase in all my ELRS modules and when I need to fly an ELRS quad, I just grab any of the modules and it's ready to go.
Well this is dope as frig Also I just noticed your toolbox in the background, that's also dope as frig. Much nicer than the folding table. Honestly you could sign that table and auction it for charity. Us fpv dorks would definitely have a bidding war over JBs og table

I'm still waiting on 900mhz receivers with PWM outputs for fixed wing builds but also hoping Josh gives it a try someday to experience the hobby's roots. If you're burning out on quads, fixed wing is a whole lotta fun.
I started on fixed wings but multirotors are way more fun for me. ELRS 2.0 has an option for 5 full PWM outputs. I recommend the matek receiver if you go that direction.
I've seen the 2.4ghz receivers but not any 900mhz stuff yet. I'll definitely check again. Thanks for the recommendation! I only bring up the fixed wing stuff because there's been a ton of variety these past few years with fpv planes and might be worth another look. Especially in combination with bi-directional ESCs (4D) and better servo loops allowing for stunts/tricks that quads can't do (infinite knife edges, infinite inverted yaw spins, flying backwards, etc)- all the advanced stuff that you could easily articulate that FliteTest is afraid to try :D
My Happy Model TX module is currently running ELRS V1.X.X as are the receivers because V2 was not out when I put ELRS on 6 different quads with EP2 receivers. My question is When I upgrade the TX and RX modules to the newer V2, will I need to re-flash the version of Beta Flight on all of the FC? I think all of them are 4.3, but will need to check
Hey JB the kid and I are using the Happymodel v1 module for our elrs mob6.... we would love to switch over from tbs to all elrs with 2.0 update but woried about the spi rx that is in our mob6's. Looking at either running our other quads with crossfire for now or switch over to ghost. It is just us two for now racing at the park... what are your thoughts on sticking with tbs for now or switching to ghost until there is a more stable elrs module?
Hi Josh Great video on the ELRS 2.0, I haven't decided yet on switching over from crossfire, but it is looking like it will be better to. Thanks again for the information.
Thank you for the great video! I just got my ELRS gear today and am setting it up. Thanks a lot!
Hi, which variant will have better penetration through brick walls and concrete? If you stay on the first floor of a 3 level house, who will have a better penetration, crsf or elrs, flying throughout all these house's floors and around it?..
Im new to the hobby , question sir , i see the ELRS says not to use 3s on the tx 30 , does that only apply to the xt 30 ? I power my radio with a 2200 3s lumenier if i hook up the elrs module to the bay , will it die ?
Can a crash have an affect upon the Beta Flight settings (rates, PIDs, CLI) causing the drone be a little wild and out of control? Should I do a fresh dump to fix this? Thanks.
19:16 As I understand it, CRSF theoretically has the capability to function as a device network, where if your RX and FC and VTX were all connected to each other by CRSF, in any order, they could all "see" each other and then you'd get this hybrid functionality you describe where both the FC and RX could send commands to the VTX. But... that's theory, and it looks like ExpressLRS has figured out a different way to get the same result. Maybe not as elegant, but an inelegant solution which works today is probably better than an elegant solution which only works in theory...
As Far I know what you mentioned is tbs cloud and you need any account and fusion module to go online and connect everything together... EXLRS does the same thing (kinda) locally...
@@nellson.angelloFPV TBS cloud is a thing but that’s not what I was talking about. The actual underlying protocol of CRSF is a device network, so it doesn’t rely (in theory) one on device connecting directly to another.
Hey, JB (lol… like he's going to read this) But if you have Wi-Fi, you most likely have BT as well. I think if you reinstall the BT drivers, you may find that it fixes the issue.
Expresslrs is impressive, however I will not switch from crossfire yet for two reasons: 1. Crossfire receiver has configurable outputs, it gives a lot of flexibility in configuring model. You can connect via sbus, inverted sbus, crsf, pwm, ppm or whatever. You can connect flight controller over crsf protocol and at the same time connect servo to pwm output bypassing FC completely (to control lights or landing gear or whatever you want). This is unbeatable feature for me :) Of course you might force your FC to do this but how much hassle it is. With CF it is done with two clicks. 2. I do not feel difference in latency between 50 Hz and 150 Hz refresh rate, so I don't care for high refresh rates. 3. CF is 20% more expensive for receiver, however paying 25 euro for CF or 20 euro for ELRS - does not make any difference in my opinion. What is the range of ELRS telemetry? One feature that tbs is working on is allowing receiver to transmit telemetry on higher power. I find it very wrong that I loose telemetry much faster than control channel. Telemetry is important to log gps position in case of model crash.
Telemetry range is tens of kilometres even with the small 10x10mm receivers, then matek RX have PA 100mw output and diversity if you want to step up. I'm not sure where you're looking a at prices but EP receiver costs around 12EUR. ELRS even allows you to tune the amount of telemetry vs control link data to suit your needs!
Excellent video as always Joshua I think you made a error regarding dynamic power jumping to max power on then staying on max power if its on the bench. Rather the elrs module powers up on the lowest available power and then it will connect to the receiver but as we fly away it will then raise power as required.
Hey JB o dont know what i do wrong but when i have the whoop in wifi mode(flashing fast) and i go in to my phone and connect with the quad per wifi i loose internet and cant go on 10.0.0.1. are they planning to have the rx and tx be able to connect via wifi to each other just to flash rx with possible stored fw in the radio? like literally all the tx and rx needs is that binding phrase to match so only those two devices can talk and update with each other and not your buddies rx thats possibly powered on near by. its technically over the air just not automatic
Hey JB which is the best elrs module to buy at this time? Have the HM v1.0 module I am using with our elrs mob6's but wanting a oled screen and use the 2.0 update. Leaning towards the betafpv one. The kid and I just want to learn how to race and do some house racing with micros.

@@JoshuaBardwell yah i figured. I was hoping someone had some magic work around. Luas or widgets or something. Best i’ve found is enabling bfbkgd.lua to sync date and time but this doesn’t appear to work on edge TX yet.
When I first got the betafpv lite rx it kind of blew my mind that little thing broadcasts wifi. One weird thing though, When I connect to it via wifi it tells me the target is DIY_2.4_RX_SOMETHING OR OTHER... Which, there is a target for betafpv lite rx I can see in the actual configurator 3.x so... I don't quite understand why when I connect to 10.0.0.1 it says that its something else. Anyone have any input on this? I don't want to brick anything, Luckily the last few I bought have 3.x on them already so all I have done is added my binding phrase, yet sometimes when I power on my jumper AION Nano it will say "mismatched" all I do is turn off and back on and solid green light. I have model match turned off... so Idk.
Many times, manufacturers will ship the receiver with a generic "DIY" target, because the official target wasn't approved at time of manufacturing. If you make 100% sure you are selecting the right receiver model, you can flash it with the correctly-named target in the configurator.
Brand new Happymodel Crux35 HD, ELRS SPI, running 4.3 RC2 and 100% programmed. AIO is binded to my TX16S with betafpv 2.4 ELRS micro on V2.01. Like I said, it's bound, I have channels moving on receiver tab, endpoints set, 1000-2000. The thing I'm seeing is arming disabled flag shows RXFAILSAFE all the time. Is this normal for SPI? I don't ever remember that happening with any D8 SPI.
That is definitely not normal. If you have movement in the receiver tab, I don't see how you could also have the RXFAILSAFE tab. That seems impossible, unless there is a bug.
You are way too cool Bardwell. Thanks as always for the amazing videos. This one was great as well, looks like I'll be updating my radio and whoop shortly.

I cannot seem to get the Bluetooth joystick to work on my betafpv tx module. It fails to connect . Dynamic power is a cool feature I keep it on all the time. Latency’s faster on 2.0 or I just feel it is , so connected. Instant response . I like it a lot .
I also could not get WiFi working on my BetaFPV module. Are you running the BetaFPV build of the firmware, or the official ERLS build? The official ELRS build is missing some hardware support. Maybe that's the issue.
Hey Josh, is there any way when i change model the module to automatically change power ? Like when i change to my plane model to go form 100mW to 250 ? And mabe form 250hz to 50?? Thanks !!!
If you start using ELRS Model Match function, some ELRS options are tied to the receiver number, and will change when you change models. I think that output power and Hz are tied to the receiver number.

Just getting it into my little plane now. Bloody excited to be honest. What a great time with the V2.0 stuff.
Im so excited for ELRS!
Well this is dope as frig
Also I just noticed your toolbox in the background, that's also dope as frig. Much nicer than the folding table. Honestly you could sign that table and auction it for charity. Us fpv dorks would definitely have a bidding war over JBs og table
ELRS is really pushing the hobby forward. And its so cheap!!! Release 2.0 is just amazing, the home WiFi connectivity makes life SO much easier, I found this out when moving from RC1 to the release. This project is well worth committing to.
Thanks Man I was about to jump into elrs and sell off my frsky d16... then after watching the first five minutes of this ! bugger that I'm going to pick up some more cheap d16 and be done with it ...too old for all that stuff
Valeu!
Great Job Bardwell
Here is what i want ! Get inav and others to connect using elrs over home wifi
I'm hoping ELRS comes to the rest of the RC world as well.
you're AWESOME!!! and only getting better!!!!
Yay! This sounds fantastic!!
Thank you very much, works fine! :)
Hi Josh Great video on the ELRS 2.0, I haven't decided yet on switching over from crossfire, but it is looking like it will be better to. Thanks again for the information.
Insane!
Idk why you would still prefer other links over elrs
Thank you for the great video! I just got my ELRS gear today and am setting it up. Everything seems to work fine but somehow my TX doesnt connect to my home wifi. flashed the TX mit the SSID and password set but doesnt connect. it just keeps launching its own acces point. does anybody know why/how to solve this? Thanks a lot!
Hi, which variant will have better penetration through brick walls and concrete?
If you stay on the first floor of a 3 level house, who will have a better penetration, crsf or elrs, flying throughout all these house's floors and around it?..
Both CRSF and ELRS will have similar penetration, as long as you're using the 900 MHz version of ELRS.
JB - what would be the best RX for playing with an FPV airplane using ELRS? Thanks for all you do!
Im new to the hobby , question sir , i see the ELRS says not to use 3s on the tx 30 , does that only apply to the xt 30 ? I power my radio with a 2200 3s lumenier if i hook up the elrs module to the bay , will it die ?
really hope the elrs team can help us export the telemetry data via bluetooth to smartphones. this can be really useful to track flight status
In short: FANTASTIC !
Pretty neat update. I just want ELRS to be as simple as TBS stuff because I'm an impatient idiot.
Hey, JB (lol… like he's going to read this)
But if you have Wi-Fi, you most likely have BT as well.
I think if you reinstall the BT drivers, you may find that it fixes the issue.
Question ? could I bind an elrs 900mhz reciver with crossfire nano tx
Expresslrs is impressive, however I will not switch from crossfire yet for two reasons:
@@deltageek7177 didnt know that. Thanks for pointing this out.
Next will be the development of openHD
I hope
Thanks for share
Excellent video as always Joshua I think you made a error regarding dynamic power jumping to max power on then staying on max power if its on the bench.
Rather the elrs module powers up on the lowest available power and then it will connect to the receiver but as we fly away it will then raise power as required.
Be great to have some pointers on using an AUX to change the output power for crossfire module.
Here's the tutorial I made about that :-)

@@JoshuaBardwell thanks!!!!!! Going to check it out right now
can it connect to my parrot mambo, which only connects via bluetooth?
Hey JB o dont know what i do wrong but when i have the whoop in wifi mode(flashing fast) and i go in to my phone and connect with the quad per wifi i loose internet and cant go on 10.0.0.1. I just tryed to go to 10.0.0.1 on my browser but even now with no whoop connected i cant open that site even with my internet on. Btw i use an Android phone. Betaflight also on android i dont have a computer or laptop.( BT works fine on android)
are they planning to have the rx and tx be able to connect via wifi to each other just to flash rx with possible stored fw in the radio? like literally all the tx and rx needs is that binding phrase to match so only those two devices can talk and update with each other and not your buddies rx thats possibly powered on near by. its technically over the air just not automatic
Hey JB which is the best elrs module to buy at this time? Have the HM
v1.0 module I am using with our elrs mob6's but wanting a oled screen and use the 2.0 update.
Leaning towards the betafpv one. The kid and I just want to learn how to race and do some house racing with micros.
The HappyModel Pro module seems like the best value for money to me.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you sir
Yes my 3k prebuilt didn't have WiFi or Bluetooth. Had to get a pcie WiFi Bluetooth card to go in it.
Such that one Crossfire
I've been digging all day to find a way to display blackbox info on osd or on radio. Some way to confirm blackbox is logging and what bb file number it is. This can go in normal BF osd but with DJI that isn't an option. Any thoughts?
It's not possible when using DJI goggles.
If you make 100% sure you are selecting the right receiver model, you can flash it with the correctly-named target in the configurator.
can I flash my mambo to elrs?
I mean, I don't have to buy tracer receivers anymore.
@@JoshuaBardwell exactly! I don't get it
You are way too cool Bardwell. Thanks as always for the amazing videos. This one was great as well, looks like I'll be updating my radio and whoop shortly.
where do i start with all this stuff? i wanna switch from the DJI controller to TX16S with elrs. feels kinda overwhelming tbh
Mate thats a big step, but its all covered on youtube.
I'm a 50 year old git and i have gotten my TX16s up on EdgeTX and now I got Elrs running on it all.
You will need a half decent PC for sure. But DO IT its freeking awesome.
Hey bardwell how invert soldering works ? It always tx1 and rx1 cable … normally sbus is only single soldering pad
Solder receiver tx to SBUS. Don't use rx. You won't have telemetry.
@@JoshuaBardwell Actually you can use the RX! since it only inverts the TX and telemetry should still work
I founded a trove. want something cheap and long-range, Yes. thank you for your opinion and other videos. I'm a robot man!
3:02 this is so cute that Joshua has blurred this wifi password. Looks like I have to cancel my flight to US to still his internet...
Okay thanks I am going to check into that right now
@@JoshuaBardwellAny Idea were I would find the Beta fpv build I did look on their website .
Instructions are on the product page: betafpv.com/products/elrs-micro-tx-module
OTA is pretty well supported on IoT platforms, it was just a matter of time ;)
Will ExpressLRS work with Jumper T16? I can't find a module for it.
I’m sold I’m going to express
Can i flash ELRS on my XM+ receivers? I had >10 of it
The excitement has me laughing ahaha
