I think a lot of us would sell a kidney to ensure they come back. Great music was dying, and a handful of artists saved it. Nightwish. Jinjer. Band-Maid. And now Lovebites. They are in a special class.
They were growing so much and getting better all the time during their 2021 shows. The introduced Asami actually playing the piano (a little) on this song, and they also introduced her Ballet skills in the amazing Dance interlude in A Frozen Serenade. Their return with New Music can't come soon enough!
Chemistry...Yes, Lovebites is a very ensemble oriented band like an orchestra. Every member sticks to each roll strictly. The bass and the drums don't play solos but play in a stoic manner as a perfect rhythm section. Some guys like Carlos and Manavuu showed their high skill in the bassist audition but their problem was the chemistry. They didn't try to show their chemistry with the band but played bass solo all the way. I don't think Lovebites want that kind of bassist, leave the drums behind and forget about the roll of rhythm section. I think that is why most of Wolfpack is on the side of Ichinose.
True. Lovebites doesn't need a player like John Myung. They need a player more like Steve Harris. Which is why Miho was so perfect. And which is also why.... we like Ichinose!

But, in my musical heart I'm hoping (vainly) that they will announce Rio (Mary's Blood) as the new bass player next month. IMO her style (and Talent) is a Perfect Match for Lovebites - and she needs a job too :0)

I realize Lovebites needed to buy some time, due to Asami's pregnancy, but there is no need to announce an open audition if you have someone for the position already. Many of us thought Rio might slide in there right after Miho left. It didn't happen. You know why? Because the reason Miho left is probably the same reason Rio doesn't want that gig. Miho and Rio are friends. Rio knows why Miho left. She would be in there already if she wanted it. If i'm wrong, i'll eat my words. We'll see.
When Miho left Lovebites, the loss of a bass player from her role was not the most significant void that she left behind. The software that Miho carried above her shoulders, the analogue in her brains is the intrinsic factor that lovebites lost for good, Miho is an excellent music reader and writer which facilitated her compositions. A composing bassist for sure brings to the table more added value than an ordinary music reading and writing bassist, let alone if one who only plays bass and not equipped with musical theory. The primary reason is these ladies are accomplished musicians, excellent music readers and writers and thus possess the ability to compose. Lovebites is excellent because they write what they play, but the only thing missing on stage during their performance are the music sheets mounted on stands cos it might seem taboo or unconventional in the heavy metal/rock domain. Lovebites songs are well composed and pleasing and enticing to the ears, but the intricacies and complexities within the compositions make them not easy to play. Testimony to the fact that these ladies are professional music readers and writers are their performance for any single composition, for whichever venue, and time or year, the execution of the song is very closely replicated, perhaps perfectly replicated. Further how else can these ladies be impeccable and flawless, with facial expressions exuding confidence and trust on each members' skill and integrity. There is just no sight among them of worry or anxiety when they perform together. Again these are top notch music theorist which most bands heavymetal/rock cannot match or possess. Lovebites has a lifespan with Miho for 5 years, which would have repercussions on their expectations for the new bass player. I just cannot imagine what it takes for the aspirant to go through the interview process with Haruna , Midori, and what more the potential gallery of the great musician, Miyako. These are all intellectual musicians with an eye for quality. attributes in a musician. Lastly if this was a male gender band, which is objectivity focused perhaps the process will not be that exacting, but we men we should realize why our wives keep nagging. They have this craving for perfection and orderly housekeeping, from a predisposition to be meticulous and attentive to details. Does this not bring to mind why Lovebites compositions are immaculate and finely prepared? So if you are a fan of lovebites, you should start loving your spouse even more..... Hahaha, Just sharing my 2 cents worth. Thanks for the space.

My guess is because it was only available online as a CD track when 'best of' was chosen. This LIVE recording was only known to those who saw the "LIVE at Home II" stream on Sept 18, 2021, or got the Heavy Metal Never Dies disks. It is only recent 'fan uploads' that have popularized it. LOVEBITES has so many, if not all, great songs, I could not choose what to "leave off" the "Best of" so I did not submit a list... &:-)
The word I use to describe LOVEBITES is "unsurpassed" ... "de neîntrecut" ... I do not want to diminish the accomplishments of others, but also DO want to express my appreciation for the consistently phenomenal compositions, lyrics, arrangements, performances and 'personalities' expressed by them, each individually and as a group.
