The new testament says to sing and make melody in the heart. I have played a guitar for almost 40 years, and I love it. Perhaps they do not always do so but I have seen musical instruments turn worship services into entertainment services.
What they need is knowledge of the truth of the word of God, administered by men who live according to that knowledge. The meaning of life is not to be found in music, but in a sense of awe, in a sense of belonging, a sense of love and a sense of security. Knowledg of Gods truth is where all these are found.

i agree it shouldnt divide Christians, and i like ur attitude toward the elders. The principle of a Holy Day and a Sacrifice for sins still applies today, we still need the sacrifice, our blessing is that Christ was the final Sacrifice for sins forever. The law is abolished, but the principle of needing that Sacrifice still stands.

If I may say so, some churches and some congregations fall into the 'trap' of believeing that it is necessary to do or allow certain 'new' things in order to keep young people in the church. I believe that the reality is that young people do not need to be emotionally influenced by music or held by other means.

Eph. 1:22 and Col 1:18 ff teach that that one body is the church. Thus if there is one body and the body is the church there can only be one church. yea, i know the Amish and some Mennonite's also disdain instruments..wich is ok w/ me, like i said, its a neat tradition..and i wish our church sang accapella more..but i also think the use of instruments as instructed in Psalm 150 is very uplifting. (i believe the principles of the OT still apply today)
singing is the most natural way to praise God. God gave man the ability to speak. He wants to be served by the living not by an object that is dead. Man puts the life into an instrument and God put the life into man. Man is Gods instrument so he wants us to praise him correctly in service. You can praise God anywhere, are u not praising God when you sing unto him? Yes christians listen to the radio, but my car and Gods house are 2 different places.

I really like this guy whose family is church of christ. I know he likes me too but he just won't approach me. Personally, I think that the Lords Body should be divided over that issue makes about as much sense as fighting over whether an egg should be cracked at the top or the bottom. Nevertheless, the elders have the responsibility to see that the worship service is conducted "decently and in order". My responsibility is to respect their judgment and follow their leadership, to submit. So I do. If the church held to OT principles, we would all be attending services on Saturdays and sacrificing animals.

I felt like "massa" was going to come beat us for singing or something. Yes that's one thing we instrument playing churches are dealing w/ right now. i am not impressed w/ the current musical movement we've been experiencing since the late 1990's. It's getting very close to a theatre or concert feeling.

i agree 100%. i wish some of our church leaders today would take hold of that. Start preaching God's Word and stop tinkering around with slideshows and video clips and funny stories. Stop trying to impress us w/ technology and start preaching again.

ok so ALL scripture is inspired by God I agree. So then I ask again how often do you make Animal sacrifices to forgive your sins? you dont because Jesus came to bring a new covenant. And in that new covenant we are told to SING singular. Just because God didnt say dont use instruments does not give authority to use it. E.G go to the shop and buy me bread and you come back with bread coke candy and pizza. and you say but you didnt say i couldn't its a weak argment speak where scripture speaks.
Yes that's one thing we instrument playing churches are dealing w/ right now. i am not impressed w/ the current musical movement we've been experiencing since the late 1990's. It's getting very close to a theatre or concert feeling.
vtech 2608 we are not under the law anymore. Jesus fulfilled that law. God is using whom he will now. Women will and are prophesing. You need to understand why women were told to keep silent in the church, BACK THEN. Why do some of your minister call themselves Dr. when that is not one of the offices in the Bible. Hmmmm. If the COC is so right why call themselves a Dr when that's not one of the offices mentioned in the Bible.
when did you last slaughter a bull or goat for your sins to be forgiven for a year? because thats in the bible too. your using old law to justify something thats not in the new covenant.
@pimpamante How can I be wrong? I too read the Bible, but it is one thing to SAY that you are the only church, And to quote scripture. Every cult on the planet makes the same claim using the Bible. And it is another, to SHOW HISTORICAL EVIDENCE that you are.

Christ said upon this rock I will build My church, my is a personal pronoun which denotes NO pontifs, no archbishops, no diocese, no such thing around at that time.
