25 BIGGEST & MOST EXPENSIVE Yachts at Haulover Inlet

  • I've been stacking up video of the biggest and most expensive yachts that run Haulover Inlet over the last year. Many of these clips are new, never before published and have been waiting for this video for over a year!
    I started the top 25 yachts at an Marlow 80E as it is super expensive for that length compared to others and we see a quick drop off in the number of yachts running Haulover at 80'.
    The big limiting factor of the size of yachts that can take on Haulover is the bridge at A1A, with a clearance of under 32' at high tide, the real big superyachts, megayachts and gigayachts we see in Miami and Fort Lauderdale cannot clear it.
    In this video there are a ton of Mangusta, Pershing, Azimut, Sanlorenzo, Heesen and a wide variety of other yacht makers.

      @@ZipZapPower Not to mention it's actually a good boat, unlike Azimuts, Benettis, Sunseekers, Pershings... San Lorenzos are okay. 60-90 ft is kind of a no-man's land for boats. You can get something that's really nice for a few years but it quickly gets to be a maintenance nightmare. Not enough space for equipment to be easily accessible. Ironically the last couple of Chinese boats I've been on in that size range were okay, actually kind of impressive from a layout standpoint. Cheoy Lee and Outer Reef gave a reasonable amount of access to most things. Not Sunseeker.

      @Steve S It’s funny how the only people I hear saying that are the broke ass jealous people who can’t afford the boating lifestyle, So in order for them to feel better they keep repeating those same words! Just like any other hobby there are going to be yearly expenses such as maintenance, Insurance and boat slip if you are not lucky enough to have a Summer Home on the water! I have been a Auto and Marine Mechanic for the past 28 years, For the most part the people who keep dumping money into their so-called bottomless pit are usually the ones who caused those costly repairs, On average most issues are caused by their lack of maintenance and improper servicing and or repair! I have a 23’ cuddy walk around with a 4.3L V6 and OMC Cobra sterndrive, I have owned the boat since 1994 and it has been docked in saltwater from May through September since the day I bought it! It has never broke down or left me stranded, Except for normal servicing I have only had to replace one alternator, oil pan and steering cable! I flush my engine every time the engine is started and the boat gets washed after every use! The exhaust on my boat is almost 20 years old and still looks brand new! And lastly nobody ever said that boating is a poor mans lifestyle, But it is definitely not a bottomless pit!

    • @charlesparr1611
      @charlesparr1611 2 года назад +3

      It's going to be a combination of the following: Relative status as a 'Veblen good', a fancy way of saying they price them that high because to the people buying it, paying more money is a way to show how awesome you are, Veblen Goods are essentially goods which are expensive for the sake of being expensive. The materials used in construction, especially finish construction: wall coverings, rare woods, solid gold toilets, and finally the quality and extent of the electronics suites, power plants, and hospitality equipment. You can drop an extra 300k into a 90 ft yacht just in navigation and security equipment that are optional extras. And an engine upgrade from the pedestrian diesel Volvos found on mere live aboard 35 trawlers could run 300k each, and come in sets of 4. Bow thrusters and helm-by-wire AI assistance for maneuvering in the marina can blow a big hole in a quarter million bucks.... I would bet the Ocean Alexander has a garage built in that contains a tender worth more than a new Mercedes S class plus a couple of 15k cutters for the crew to do the shopping etc.
      The other big cost driver, though not for the ship you mention (at least she sure doesn't look like something I would want to be out in the mid Atlantic during a middling gale, or rounding the tip of South America either) is the difference between true 'Blue Water' vessels and bloated pleasure craft. Check out the prices of a true 'expedition' yacht, normally based on a North Sea fishing hull, and actually capable of sailing through a hurricane and out the other side, every detail of construction on such vessels is over engineered, overbuilt, and then if its gonna be pretty, its even more expensive to cover up the utilitarian foundation.

    Don’t get me wrong; there’s some fantastic floaties in this video- stunning actually. But I like to see the Megas that don’t fit under the causeway bridges.

    Mangustas are just beautiful yachts. Sunseeker Yacht not so, too bulky, top heavy and lines are just off. Drone shots were cool addition.

    Of course all nice boats but pricing is pretty tough unless you know the year and actual hours on the vessel. Still cool video!

    In Ft. Lauderdale it would cost about $6,000 a month to dock that 100’ Ocean Alexander! $72,000 a year is a lot of rent!

    No Mangusta 165 around Miami. Did expect bigger ships

    • @ZipZapPower

      They do run around Miami, but a 165 is probably too tall for the bridge.

      If you want some of the bigger yachts go down to Government Cut. The bridge at Haulover is to low for the big girls to get under.

    That ocean Alexander cut through the water so much better than that Marlow (which is supposed to be an explorer yacht ).
