      Lighting up at night and saying "ok" as the only indication that anything was wrong, a small, low power laser diode having struck the microphone and communicated what Alexa thought to be a spoken command, and dutifully she complied, unlocking the smart locks, disarming the burglar alarm, and letting the assassin in to slit the throat of the homeowner. Such a thing is possible today, the only guard against such an outcome being whether we set a password on our app.

    People are acting like there's zero chance of drones being used as weapons to kill. Just watch those videos where they race FPV drones that can maneuver through almost anything. They even had a drone follow this dude riding a bike downhill for a red bull event and it shows how this things can keep up with u even if ur on a bike. On foot..ur basically done. The only thing missing is having weapons light enough to attach to a drone that can be lethal enough to do damage. I know they already used drones to drop bombs on tanks and shit.. but having those things chase people around knowing that they are capable of killing is scary as hell.

    What scares me as a 20 y/o student studying computer science. I fear it more that I, personally can think on how to make it, and build a prototype probably close to a "slaugterbot's" autonomous enmity which could create a minimal havoc with easily available parts and comparatively minimal finance
    And that means others do too. Other, much brilliant forms, I'm sure.
    A trained AI booted through a raspberry pi with just 4gigs of ram along with a 8mp lens to automate human/face and even age detection.
    (No need to even code it, it's present on github)
    An uno to automate balance and roter spins. And a control module for a light auto gas firearm.
    Along with a few tweaks you can make a 'drone' light enough to carry much hardware with a stong quad roter design to literally aim. At humans. And categorise who's who.

      The general position of civil society groups concerned about this space is that antipersonnel autonomous weapons that can scale to WMDs and easily proliferate are the most clearly problematic. Force-on-force weapons with target *selection* done autonomously raise concerns about escalation and loss of control and if not prohibitable might at least be subject to regulatory agreements to reduce these risks. Clearly defensive (e.g. antimissile) systems have are generally not considered germane in these discussions.

    9 The fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth. The key to the shaft of the abyss was given to him. 2 He opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke came up out of the shaft like smoke from a great[a] furnace so that the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft. 3 Then locusts came out of the smoke on to the earth, and power[b] was given to them like the power that scorpions have on the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green plant, or any tree, but only people who do not have God’s seal on their foreheads. 5 They were not permitted to kill them but were to torment them for five months; their torment is like the torment caused by a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days people will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.
    7 The appearance of the locusts was like horses equipped for battle. Something like gold crowns was on their heads; their faces were like men’s faces; 8 they had hair like women’s hair; their teeth were like lions’ teeth; 9 they had chests like iron breastplates; the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses rushing into battle; 10 and they had tails with stingers like scorpions, so that with their tails they had the power[c] to harm people for five months. 11 They had as their king[d] the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon,[e] and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.[f] 12 The first woe has passed. There are still two more woes to come after this.

      You can't just "fix" people. We've been fighting since day 1. All we can do is remove easy access to mass murder, make it more difficult, take that card off the table. In America, easy access to guns and gun culture deeply embedded in everyday life had led to constant school shootings and mass shootings. You can take out a bank loan and get a free shotgun. In virtually every other country, you can still get access to weapons if you have a legitimate use, but it's a process that filters out mentally unstable and violent people. But that would never happen in America, because there's a fundamental right to kill it seems.

When humans resist they are called “wild” “savages” and “terrorist”. A bug in the system must be terminated, you are a good one, obident enough and loyal to civilization, so of course youwould think “well its human error, the machines cant think for themslsves”.

    • @elsmaster5592
      @elsmaster5592 3 года назад +4

      I would say that the problem is that small autonomous drones can easily be produced en mass by literally anyone and can be used by e.g. terrorists who use like a small factory in the target country and then have like a small truckload (or more who knows) of killer drones that they then can set loose basically anywhere wreaking havoc before they can be stopped.
      Another problem is is that they would allow dictators to rule with absolute power as they wouldn't even need to cater to their 'in' group of loyalist as they would no longer need an army made up of human supporters.
      This would allow them to basically do whatever they want without having to fear an uprising.

      The problem is the issue of the lazy halloween costume. I'm dressed as a domestic terrorist: they look just like everyone else.
      If a human couldn't pick out a terrorist from a civilian, an AI would also have a hard time. It's not like they all wear tea towels on their heads with dynamite strapped to their chest, that mental image of an islamist terrorist comes from the fact that civilians just dress like that in Arab nations because it keeps the sun of their neck. (Ok, maybe not everyone wears dynamite as a fashion statement, but the point still stands that terrorists are generally hard to identify unless you already know that x individual is a terrorist.)
