Yeah, the first 25 episodes of my podcast were recorded using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and two iRig lav mics. Sound quality was great. However the mics are super sensitive, so had to choose the recording location carefully to ensure low ambient noise. 👌🏻
Awesome! One question: Could I also film the interview whilst I am recording the audio on my iPhone in this Ferrite app? Then in the editing process I would you the Ferrite audio and the film video to get the best quality. Thanks so much!
why would you need to? you could just record audio in the camera app as you are filming, then later export/strip the audio from the video and upload it. At least this way you know the audio will be in sync with the video.
That does sound like a good idea. I’m all about maximizing audio quality and video quality. But I’m sure that’s probably impossible. I doubt the phone would be able to do those things separately. So I’m planning to film videos and then take the audio out in QuickTime and use that as my podcast. I’d love to see samples that you’ve recorded. And I can interview you for my show! I’m thinking of walking to the camera store tonight to buy this kit.
The Ferrite Recording Studio app website is www.wooji-juice.com/products/ferrite (the web address currently in the video description is incorrect). Or just search the Apple App Store for ferrite and it'll come up.
Thanks, Pat! I've had to record a few in-person interviews, which has meant taking mics, stands, and audio interface with me (plus cables). If I find myself doing more, this might be worth the investment.
Very simple & easy steps. I have a question: can I record solo on this device? Or if there is a device with only one microphone inlet! Any suggestion is welcome 😀
Very cool travel podcast setup. I have an 11” ipad pro with a usb-c port. Is there an audio interface that uses usb-c instead of lightning? Or will i need to use a dongle? Also, can you use wireless apple airpods to monitor the podcast? Or does it need to be wired? Thanks!
Hey Pat!! I saw a comment from 6 months ago on this video where a viewer asked about being able to record 2 separate tracks at a time with this step up, you said that you would make a video on that but I haven’t seen one yet! Could you elaborate on this some more for me? I am starting a Podcast for my employer and this is the perfect set up! Thanks!

Boya works good in lavalier, chepear, and larger cable.
Can I plug in a actual microphone to that also ? Or it only work with the small mics ? Also how do I record the footage while I’m recording the audio ? Will the app work if I go to my camera on my iPhone to record footage ??
Thank you for this, I appreciate it. I do wish you could have done a comparison of how much better the sound comes out when using those devices vs not using it. Again thank you!
I'm sure this would this work in a "normal" at-home/studio set-up if you have a podcast with a partner, but would you suggest doing so, or is there a better way that you suggest?
I have a question to ferrite. I‘m use a audio interface (presonus audiobook itwo) witch have two mic ports. I record with one mic, but ferrite cant handle it. The sound is awful or my voice is not gonna record. I guess its because, ferrite automatically change the record settings to stereo and it shows that i only have the sound on the left side. Ill try to change the settings, but it doesn’t do anything...
Unfortunately, no longer available, the “RODE SC6-L Ultracompact 2x2 Lightning Audio Interface for iOS Devices”. How does the usb-c version work with adapters for lightning connectors (iPhone & iPad)?
So if I wanted to do a video podcast ... I’d just record on my iPhone correct? Or do I need to use one of those fancy apps to sink my audio with my video (I’m not very tech) pleas help
Hey Flavio! You were chosen based on your early comment to win an SPI pin! Please email pat@smartpassiveincome.com and we'll hook you up :) For everyone else tuning in, be sure to subscribe to get notifications when new videos are posted!
Hello. Great video. Thanks. Just have two questions: using this method does it record in two different tracks? And, which app do you use to edit the sound that you recorded using this method?
Does anyone know if this works on the Samsung Galaxy S20? Please let me know if you got it working on any of the S20s and if you had to enable Developer Mode. Thanks.
this is great! Gives me so many ideas for future podcasts. Only question is about the app you used. What does it offer that garage band or other free apps don't? I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for helping us get our podcast off the ground! Sound Mind Strategies Podcast, we (my wife and I) focus on mindset coaching for athletes, business people, entrepreneurs, couples, and everyone in between. Love the content.
yea you can get the kit on amazon. Its easy to tell the difference. The rode mics are headphone/mic jacks so they are universal. I also have a video on my channel showing the difference in audio quality between a rode mic and the internal audio. Its pretty ear opening the difference a rode mic makes. Good luck with your plans 👍
Hey.. great Video but would you please tell me which is the best platform to publish my podcast? SoundCloud vs Spotify or something else? (I’m a beginner)
Upload your files to BuzzSprout or Libsyn, that’s your podcast host. Then put your podcast on ALL the directories you can: Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, etc. Don’t worry about SoundCloud.
Thanks Pat. Amazing insightful video but for those of us who don't own iPhone. Would you suggest Zoom H1 with some audio adaptors? Zoom also has monitoring and audio levels limiter. In my experience, it captures crisp audio.
Hi Pat, when using the ferrite recording app (I just purchased the pro version), what recording settings do you recommend? And what export settings do you recommend for sharing the file? Thanks so much in advance.
Pat, your comments are turned OFF in your last video (just an FYI)...not sure if you knew that. The Acoustic Panels video (was going to leave a comment).
Awesome tips
How do I do a video interview with this setup man like you did while using the setup
My boy pat I love your podcast your in daily rotation at work.
Yeah, the first 25 episodes of my podcast were recorded using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and two iRig lav mics. Sound quality was great. However the mics are super sensitive, so had to choose the recording location carefully to ensure low ambient noise. 👌🏻
Brilliant little kit, Pat!
Thank you Ray!

experiment54 that’s what I will probably do. I’m all for reducing post production labor and time.

I’ve been waiting for this !! So excited! Thanks Pat!!
Now we can record podcasts anywhere and anytime. Thank you for this Pat! You always help us.
This was extremely helpful!
Thanks Pat this was really helpful - I travel a lot so I'll definitely try out this equipment when I'm on the road!
Nice I’m gonna be starting my own podcast and this helps me out thank you
Im so happy I stumbled on your channel. good deal!

i’m still trying to look for a mic that can i can use as a mic for camera app already downloaded on the iphone app. sadly airpods don’t work
Thanks, Pat! I've had to record a few in-person interviews, which has meant taking mics, stands, and audio interface with me (plus cables). If I find myself doing more, this might be worth the investment.
Thanks. I really needed a quick Podcast setup.
Thanks! One Question:
Do I need this Audio Interface or is it enough to use an Double-Aux to Lightning Adapter?
Can you adjust the levels of each mic and does it record to multiple tracks?
One track, not ideal as far as I’m concerned.
Pat Thank you so much for this micro tutorial very helpful.
Very simple & easy steps. I have a question: can I record solo on this device? Or if there is a device with only one microphone inlet! Any suggestion is welcome 😀

You always give great information.
Do the mic record both to R and L or one mic to each?

Thanks Pat. I think we can use it for. Keep recording and record the sound clearly :)
Fantastic! Answered all my questions.
Thank you

so good, thanks
Thanks Pat. Perfect timing we are on the road next week and will give it a try.
If you are doing a solo episode you don’t need the SC-6, you can just plug the Rode SmartLav+ directly into the phone. :)
I use Backpack Studio to record my podcasts with my Rode Microphones.
Great information, thanks

would you still recommend this nowadays or is there a better modern way to do this?
Very helpful as always Pat. Thank you!
This will change everything for my show, I didn't know there were decent portable versions like this.
Unfortunately, no longer available, the “RODE SC6-L Ultracompact 2x2 Lightning Audio Interface for iOS Devices”. How does the usb-c version work with adapters for lightning connectors (iPhone & iPad)?
This is great Pat, i deffo need something lightweight like that, does that app record the two channels as separate audios?
If you're using a Rode Videomic ME-L, you don't need the adapter--unless you're doing interviews? Is that correct?
Thank you!!!
Will I be able to use this setup if I’m recording an interview from a different location?
Excellent info, Pat! Concise and clear and I'm ready to move forward...
Thanks for another great video that is super helpful for those of us thinking of starting out in the world of Podcasting. Great stuff!
Thank you Pat!
Awesome video! 🙌
What other Microphones (meaning bigger and possible boom mics) that I could use with the same adapter?? Please help.
hi Pat, great stuff thanks! Would like to know how's the voice quality or noise when you recorded outside?
So if I wanted to do a video podcast ... I’d just record on my iPhone correct? Or do I need to use one of those fancy apps to sink my audio with my video (I’m not very tech) pleas help
Hi, its possible that I add another micro ?
Very helpful! Question: If I am interviewing someone online via Skype or Zoom can I connect this to my PC or iPad instead of plugging in a second mic?
@patflynn Would this be good to record when public speaking or preaching?
Can I plug headset with mic in and get review and mic in one input?
Hey Pat, how much was the Ferrite app? Great video, thanks so much exactly what I need
Top Pat!!!
Awesome!!!

Pat Flynn do you think it is possible to start a podcast and remain anonymous?
What microphone are you using in the video
Does this do any good for a remote covid session? Not able to leave the house
Hello. Great video. Thanks. Just have two questions: using this method does it record in two different tracks? And, which app do you use to edit the sound that you recorded using this method?
How would you do a 3 person setup?
How do I have to iPhones going with 2 mics? I’m using a laptop as well
Pat. For me wanted to start podcast what topic or how to start the content?
Does anyone know if this works on the Samsung Galaxy S20? Please let me know if you got it working on any of the S20s and if you had to enable Developer Mode. Thanks.
Very cool little kit! Does this allow you to record each mic seperate?
This sounds great!👍
what camera did you use for this video ?
This is Awesome...!!
Oh wow no beard Pat, great video thanks for sharing very handy tips
Any iPhone 4,5,6 .. or iPad(old version)?
Really useful. Pretty much looking exactly for this, except for the iPad Pro with USB-C. Not ideal as you'd need another dongle. Thanks a lot though!!
What about recording a FaceTime audio call? Obviously I would use this for me, but would it record the audio from the call in general?
This vid is a lot of help
Can I make phone calls off the set up? My current set up won’t allow me to make phone calls of my phone for podcasting.
What do you think about anchor

Looks great, however is there an Android kit like this?
I bought this one.
www.amazon.com/Movo-Professional-Microphone-Monitoring-Smartphones/dp/B019HQHXN4
My podcast friend has it and it's sounds crisp!!
Rode vide mic me is also good
I am interested in a video about this same subject for Android.

Hello great video. Can I ask u is this kit only for IPhone?? I have a Huawei... Does it work on it?? Appreciate if u would reply.
anonymous The Huawei has a headphone jack right? If so, the. Use the SC6 non lightning version and yes, it’ll achieve the same result!
@@patflynn yes it has a headphone jack. This will be the only thing I need right? Thank you for replying.

Pat Flynn thank you so much 😊
I want to buy that desktop monitor in the background. What is that monitor's name?
Thanks for this!
Can i ask if this will work if i plug it in a usb converter for a pc computer?
Instead of using that app would it work with anchor app?
Does this eliminate the chance of echo when two people are using the mics close together?
Does this work for recording on Zoom/Meet calls?
Thanks Pat. Amazing insightful video but for those of us who don't own iPhone.

Hi Pat, when using the ferrite recording app (I just purchased the pro version), what recording settings do you recommend? And what export settings do you recommend for sharing the file? Thanks so much in advance.
That’s a great set up. But, can two separate tracks be recorded in Ferrite in order to separate the two mics?
With this setup, no. For separate track recording, it gets more expensive and complicated but I will be doing another video on that, soon!
I want to do this setup but with video
I'd like to hear a podcast that used this to check out the quality. Any suggestions?
I can’t find that app in the App Store? Ferrite?
Pat flynn to the rescue again,
Pat, your comments are turned OFF in your last video (just an FYI)...not sure if you knew that. The Acoustic Panels video (was going to leave a comment).
Yes I know, thank you. Had a lot of hate happening in the video, something I didn’t want my son to be a part of, who was in that video.
@@patflynn Really, over acoustic panels...crazy! Yep, totally get it...have kids as well.
What’s the app you used?
Will this work for clubhouse?
Does anyone know about storage? Because phones get easily full
Is this only available for Iphone???
Has anybody tried this with the iPad Pro 2018? I've tried it and I can't get the USB-C to recognize an external microphone :(
