Dear Sarru, Raeen, and Babu: The “duck with the long beak” is called a pelican. Babu is correct to say it is a seabird. They fly over the sea and catch fish close to the surface of the water using their beaks. The cool part is how the lower part of their beak stretches like a big pouch when they scoop up both fish and water. They then filter the water out and swallow the fish whole. In various parts of the world, people have also witnessed pelicans eating pigeons, ducks, frogs and anything else they can fit in their mouth and swallow without chewing. They are quite gluttonous birds. The fluffy bull/bear you saw is a bison, you could say it is a cousin of the ox or yak. They have distinct thick fur to survive freezing winters and very large hunched backs. Their skulls are extremely thick and built to withstand trauma to the head, they are known to head-butt and charge at threats. Being hit by one would be like being hit by a large bus. They also usually travel in herds. The “mongoose” you saw was actually a squirrel. They are known to scurry about trees, collecting nuts, acorns, and other seeds to store away for the winter. Yes, the long-necked bird with the large black feathers would be an ostrich. They are mostly native to Africa and are among the fastest runners in the world, right behind the cheetah.
