  • In this video I talk about the shooting impressions with my favorite pistol I own, the Staccato XC, and compare it to the Laugo Arms Alien pistol. Both have very different ways of combating recoil and adding to shooter confidence. That being said, I'm absolutely loving both! Full discloser, I'm saying everything from a recreation shooter's point of view and I bought both of these at no discount. As if it matters for me... In any case, enjoy the video!

      You have to remember, the alien doesn’t even have a comp on it like the 2011 does. Imagine what the alien would be like if it had a compensatory on it. Personally, I wish you could suppress it. With the fixed barrel, you wouldn’t need to run a booster. I think it would really shoot nice then!

    For the price of these guns I’d expect them to eat all ammo. The Alien failing on 115 is a deal breaker. I’ll keep my 2011 👍

      @bilbonob548 8 месяцев назад +9

      @@m4rvinmartian A low bore axis is a benefit, not a con - why would that be a deal breaker? The only reason the 2011 is even remotely competing with the alien here is because of that massive compensator, otherwise its not even the same beast. Put an equivalent comp on the alien and it would absolutely destroy the 2011 in recoil impulse - the only major negative I can see with the alien, and any piston operated pistol is the heat.

    Having shot & reviewed both the Alien & the XC, I prefer the XC. The alien gets hot fast. After about 3 boxes of ammo, you’re going to want to put on some shooting gloves. Also I always get bit the Alien’s slide. The XC runs like a dream & the ergonomics are a better fit.

    Laugo is introducing several new models of the Alien Creator at shot show. You can now get it with a threaded barrel if you want. They also have a model that has a reciprocating optic and you can put an SRO or other optic on it.
    I have shot the Alien Creator extensively. I’ve shot a lot of 115 through it and never had a problem. I shoot an atlas Erebus primarily, and I’ve gone back-and-forth with both at the range on steel and paper . The alien definitely recoils, but what it doesn’t have is muzzle flip. It kicks straight back into your hand. The alien trigger is fast, but the atlas is faster on a timer repeatedly. I’m a .20 split kind of guy but one of my friends I shoot with is a .12 split kind of guy with my Atlas. .16 to .18 was as fast as he could go with the alien. Just for the record, i hate him. 😊
    In my opinion, the alien is not a substitute for a 2011. If you have a few 2011s and play at the top of the pyramid, the alien would be a great addition if you have that kind of money to burn. The alien creator Limited edition is at $7000 but it includes the optic and a bunch of other stuff. The new ones that are going to be released in February are priced lower but still more than the XC.

    I love the innovation of the Alien. It does look like it has less recoil, but quicker and straight back into your hand. I wonder if that'd feel punishing after a while. An XC is likely in my future since I've recently been bitten by the 2011 bug. $6k for the Alien is a bit of a reach, considering that gets one into nice handbuilt 2011 territory, but i get it since it's a limited production and unique handgun. I'll stick with 2011s for a while. Hopefully Laugo or others will eventually offer lesser priced, similarly designed guns.

    As cool as both of these are, they will NEVER be worth the price. I can build 3 ar15s or buy 8 glock 19s for that price. The 1911 action is an old and well established design. There's no reason changing it to 9mm and making it smooth warrants the 4k price. The firearm industrys prices are slowly getting so ridiculous thats its becomming a rich mans sport where in the past everyone could afford to shoot a quality firearm. The profit margins of these companies are getting to the point of scammy imo. Cost 200 to make, so let's charge 4k...lol. that's insane. The stacatto should be 1200 to MAYBE 1500. Ill prepare myself to get roasted 😂

    • @TexasPlinking
      @TexasPlinking  8 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree, prices aren’t changing, more options are out. You just mentioned that you could get 3 AR15s or 8 glocks. Even PSA has Glock clones for like $250. Guns are getting cheaper and more expensive simultaneously, because there’s more and more options. And having shot plenty of guns, I will standby thinking that the Staccato is worth every bit of its $4,300. I’ve seen Staccato manufacturing process, it doesn’t cost $200 to make, where did you hear that? You’re making things up, the amount of man hours alone in the finishing and hand fitment is ridiculous.

    • @NCshooter1213
      @NCshooter1213 8 месяцев назад +1

      @TexasPlinking I prepared for the roasting...lol. the average gun manufactors profit margins are HUGE. Psa is a prime example. They sell at low cost and are successful. That shows they make profit and it can be done. No doubt a hand fitted handgun should cost more than a stamped out one, BUT no chance stacatto spends even close to 4k in man hours for one of their pistols. I'll never believe that in a million years. When I say 200$ to make I mean materials. Does it take multiple days for a man to hand fit a stacatto? If 1 person works on 1 handgun can they do it in a day? A days pay could be 300$ for that guy. Does it take 1 man a 40 hr week to hand fit one? If thats the case then i stand corrected 1000%. That's what I'm describing. I will never see the value in a 4k handgun. I'm mean for God's sake u can buy a scar for that price. No chance a scar is cheaper to make than a 1911 style pistol right? I'm not trying to anger you just stating my opinion. Prices have gotten outrageous across the board for everything not guns alone. And yes I made up the 200$ cost for materials based off steel costs for manufacturers. That's a rough estimate. Ya got me there. I would LOVE to see the true cost. I think it would surprise ppl honestly.

  • @shoktroop

    just the comparison I was looking for: will be getting a XC at the end of the year, but have been tempted to instead go with the Alien, especially since I'm a huge CZ 75 fan and appreciate low bore axis guns. After seeing this, however, I'm sticking with the plan for the XC, which I've actually gotten to shoot and really liked it.

    I've shot an alien and it's amazing. Can't beat the sight on target speed or the recoil. The 5k tag is a little crazy but I'm looking to get one soon. Just an amazing gun

    I think the Alien is a good idea that needs more refinement. I also understand why they call it the Alien, but I wish they would make it look less Alien mouth like and give it a better name lol, I grew up with a 1911 so the 2011 is hard to beat as my favorite.

    Having not shot either, I think I'd prefer your original. My pistol shooting for many years was always the Browning 9mm British Military Issue. I never missed with it & only ever used iron sights.
