@David Hargreaves this is late but yes it will easily help remove the rust... but use distilled white vingar... and when it's done use rust preventer to make sure rust never comes back again
Use a diluted solution of Phosphoric acid, then rinse off after 1 hour. this not only removes the rust but turns it into a different type of iron oxide that is dark black and resist any further rusting. Use rubber gloves to prevent burns from acid.
I'm thinking that instead of splashing coke from a can onto your rims, pour coke into a spray bottle or sports bottle first and rinse with a garden hose with sprayer attached instead of whatever was used at the end of this video.

@@prathikantamkrishnaveni4671 rust did get scaped off but the rusty look gave the lamp an antique look I clean it with vinegar & vim liquid once a week with a scotch brite scrubber, now its looking better & better, before diwali I'll clean put a primer on then paint it with a silver colour that was the original colour of the lamp.....hope that does the trick

If you're talking about cast iron, the vinegar method is the best to get off serious rust. If it's just flash rust then some acidic fluid and soap with a little scrubbing should do the trick.
You can use vinegar and aluminium foil instead of the brush, for better effect. I had to clean rusty metal parts of my white leather shoes, so I had to work quick as well. Perfect result! I was ready to throw them away

If the rusted object includes moving parts, fuhgeddaboudit. I tried all lemon juice and vinegar and salt and baking soda on a couple of rusted crescent wrenches, the rust did go away leaving the tools black and pitted, but the adjustment screws stayed rusted frozen and immoveable.

Don't forget to neutralize the vinegar after using it otherwise your tools will catch rust so fast you won't be able to recover.

• Vinegar for 24 hours
And no luck

My boss used vinegar not only to clean the rust, but also heavy burnt on plastic. Took 4 days to a week for it to come off.
