      @David Hargreaves this is late but yes it will easily help remove the rust... but use distilled white vingar... and when it's done use rust preventer to make sure rust never comes back again

    Use a diluted solution of Phosphoric acid, then rinse off after 1 hour. this not only removes the rust but turns it into a different type of iron oxide that is dark black and resist any further rusting.
    Use rubber gloves to prevent burns from acid.

    I'm thinking that instead of splashing coke from a can onto your rims, pour coke into a spray bottle or sports bottle first and rinse with a garden hose with sprayer attached instead of whatever was used at the end of this video.

    Some of these great ideas can also be used in certain orders. I believe a little elbow grease & liquids are a great combo to clean & remove rust from your rust item. Thx for the great ideas!

    I need to do this on my bathroom rack . However due to its size & layers I won't be able to plunge it into the liquid of vinegar or lemon. Unless I get massive massive amount of it. Can you recommend anything for that case ? Many thanks

    Don't forget to neutralize the vinegar after using it otherwise your tools will catch rust so fast you won't be able to recover.

      I used white vinegar and at first it seemed to be effective, however during a second vinegar bath the items turned orange 😭🤦🏽‍♀️… now I’m on a mission to undo my mistake

      @@maloutungol9380 make a baking soda paste by mixing baking soda with a little water, rub the metal down with it then rinse off and dry with a rag. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil to the metal to protect it from further oxidation (rust).

      Bakingsoda will react with acids and you will be left with a competely different chemical composition that most likely will not do the trick

      Rusting is a chemical reaction which involves H2O. Water is the most common method to clean up items as you can find. I guess you can use sand to clean up after scrubbing, too? The point is to distinguish the chemical and physical property and make best use of each.

      If you ever get the rust off, use WD40 to prevent rust afterwards.

    What have I learned so far ?
    1. Getting rid of rust with vinegar in five minutes, takes ten minutes.
    2. LOL The lemon did almost nothing in this example.
    3. Getting rid of rust with baking soda in five minutes, takes two hours.

    Awesome video am trying to re-paint an old rusted lamp so I'll try the baking soda paste method in which I'll add a little vinegar apply it & let you know the result do you think I'm doing it right, i did scrub away some off the rust though not with sand paper but with aluminum medicine foils....do let me know 🙏🏻

      @@prathikantamkrishnaveni4671 rust did get scaped off but the rusty look gave the lamp an antique look I clean it with vinegar & vim liquid once a week with a scotch brite scrubber, now its looking better & better, before diwali I'll clean put a primer on then paint it with a silver colour that was the original colour of the lamp.....hope that does the trick

      If you're talking about cast iron, the vinegar method is the best to get off serious rust. If it's just flash rust then some acidic fluid and soap with a little scrubbing should do the trick.

      You can use vinegar and aluminium foil instead of the brush, for better effect. I had to clean rusty metal parts of my white leather shoes, so I had to work quick as well. Perfect result! I was ready to throw them away

    A retired tailor gave me her supplies. REAL safety pins, snap, hooks & eyes, etc. A few minutes in white vinegar--BAM!! Like new! 👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾👊🏾👍🏾👍🏾 THANK YOU SO MUCH! 🥰

    I have questions. My charger can discharge above 1amp on this prius battery. What's the maximum discharge ampage I should use?
    2. I set mine to recycle 5 times and out off at capacity of 7500. Now once it's start discharging and charging and it out off at 7500 I stop. Is this a bad idea?
    3. I couldn't set maximum voltage to stop charging. Mine some times shows charging at 8.6volts. Is this right?

      Not even zinc anymore.found a penny at the laundromat so rusted I could hardly read the 2009 date on it.our money is truly worth less than nothing

    I have tried:
    • wire brush
    • sandpaper 80 grid with a power sander
    • Vinegar for 24 hours
    And no luck

    If the rusted object includes moving parts, fuhgeddaboudit. I tried all lemon juice and vinegar and salt and baking soda on a couple of rusted crescent wrenches, the rust did go away leaving the tools black and pitted, but the adjustment screws stayed rusted frozen and immoveable.

    My boss used vinegar not only to clean the rust, but also heavy burnt on plastic. Took 4 days to a week for it to come off.
