Thanks for the tour of my neighborhood. The solid waste workers and the po lice have been shuffling the unsheltered mostly early mornings Mon-Wed. I imagine you toured the War Zone right before the Pride parade is why you didn't see a good portion of our unsheltered people. I notice alot of those fences that businesses have put up leave little room for our wheelchair residents on the sidewalks? It's also embarrassing that the sidewalks aren't really handicapped and disabled, accessible in 2024? Especially since this is where lower income people live.
If you need to utilize the sidewalk when cycling and pedestrians are present, you need to dismount and walk your bike for the safety of others. It's just common courtesy!

I moved to Albuquerque in 2016 why do they call it "International District"? I understand "the war zone" but international 🤔 I don't get it. I was waiting for a bus there once & was asked what kind of drugs I preferred 😮 I don't think I looked like I did drugs I was a 58 yr old lady wearing new blue jeans & a tee shirt with sandles (expensive sandles) my hair was clean & brushed had make-up on like an older lady would. Felt weird!! I haven't done drugs since 1982.
I think this is very sad. It's clear this was at one time a thriving quiet community. Likely people had lived there most of their lives, and opened businesses. They were living the American dream. Now this drug comes along and took root in this community somehow. So no one's house or business is worth anything. Who would buy a house or business there? So it appears that good people who have nothing to do with this are now stuck there until things change. I mean kids cannot even ride their bike over to that school park to play. At least I wouldn't let my child out in that neighborhood without some adult present!
