I threw mine in a drawer about 4 months after I bought it and made the jump to an android box .... never looked back. Sticks are fine for the 'normies' but who really wants a stick or box where the remote has proprietary streaming channel buttons ?

Great video, is there any way round sideloading BBCIPLAYER on the ONN Box. I'm living in Ireland, I was able to get it installed but it wont open. It's Geo locked but using a VPN on the Firestick BBCIPLAYER opens without any problem. It's not a show stopper but would be great to have it working on the ONN Box.
Hello, I am not sure why it won't work if you are using the same VPN you did with the FS, I would try other cities along with refreshing to get another IP as some maybe black listed
Hey Coach Potato Cafe, speaking of the Chromecast system, would you happen to know how to route the device to a dedicated IP address? Preferably at the device level, instead of going into the router settings. For example, directing multiple Chromecasts, from different locations to a single dedicated IP address, for a RUclips TV work around. If you do, that would be a great video to do. If you want to set a static IP address on your Android device (such as an Android TV box), follow these steps:
Open Settings: Go to your Android device’s Settings.
Wi-Fi Settings: Tap on Network & internet, then select Wi-Fi.
Modify Network: Press and hold on the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to. A menu will pop up.
Advanced Options: Tap Modify network.
Static IP: In the new window, select Advanced options and scroll down to the IP settings section.
Change the setting from DHCP to Static.
Configure Network Settings: Now you can manually set an IP address for your Android device. You can also edit other related settings such as Gateway, Network prefix length, and DNS (primary & secondary).
Once you’ve completed the setup, tap SAVE, and your static IP address will be applied. The networking system will automatically reconnect to the network using the newly configured information. From now on, whenever you connect to that particular Wi-Fi network, it will use the static IP address you’ve set12.
Remember that this process might vary slightly based on your specific Android version, but the general steps remain consistent. Enjoy your customized network settings!

I have never tried that, I haven't even used a actual mouse for years but sounds interesting. I am not sure how it would work at the moment
I’ve been using the WalMart Onn box for about 6 months (maybe less) and I LOVE ❤ it.
The only issue I have is whenever it or my network reboots I lose anything that is connected to my OTG cable.
It was touched on towards the end of the video.
Sometimes it does not return very easily.
Be sure that USB debugging is turned off, that it what usually causes it
@@CouchPotatoCafe I have restarted the Onn with USB Debugging off and then went in and turned it back on after the re-boot and the USB drive and Ethernet connection are still not recognized.

@@CouchPotatoCafe No USB Debuggjng needs to be on to see the USB drive or the Ethernet port on the USB hub.
It works fine if I were to format the Onn as new and set it up from scratch again, but I don’t want to keep doing that.
It worked fine restarting with USB Debugging off and then turning it on for a while and then stopped.
Good info. Thanks for jail break tips. I just got the $20 onn 4K streaming box. It works very well, however I'm still trying to get used to it. I've been using the firestick for years now and realized there are noticeable differences. One of the questions I have is does it have a sleep mode or do you have to leave it on all the time till it burns out?
Also is there a way to turn off that annoying noise when using the remote?
Minor dislikes I have is there is no pause button on the remote, and the other is I can't sort my apps in the order I wish.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mike, When clicking on power button should put it to sleep after your designated time delay, and go to the display & Sound in settings find system sounds and toggle it off and no more annoying noise. As far as the pause button that's usually handled through the players used by pushing the select / okay button. Thanks for watching and commenting!

As youtube says you cannot download these items unless you purchased each movie, but to answer your question is yes that is what you could use the extra storage for.

Actually they are so close to each other but as I've said before the stick is just a hair faster, you wouldn't notice it.

The fire stick is part of an Amazon ecosystem. For example, the Amazon recast works through the fire stick. That is a DVR. Also using the DVR and the fire stick enables you to view your recorded videos in live programming anywhere that you got an internet connection. The fire stick also will work with other devices but I don't own any of them.
Does the onn box get updates enough to keep for 10 yrs before having to replace it or buy a different box like the other boxes you have talked about?

So Jim, will Surfshark help with Loading of YT vids on my PC ?... Even with great down speeds, YT really lags with loading.
Well at times I cannot play RUclips at 480P but turn on the Surfshark and I am watching 4K videos, but yeah I find it helps alot
are you using an adblock ? if so , this is the problem. close youtube, clear your cookies, open back up and you should see youtube run ok for a while. when it slows to a crawl, repeat steps. RUclips has waged a war against people who use an ablock program

When you say wifi, do you need it needs wifi or it has wifi built-in?
You would use your wifi to connect to the box or connect directly to your router with a cat cable.

This is a 4k streaming box and what Google TV does not include you would have to install it yourself such as premium or top streaming channels.

Try toggeling the usb debug and then a restart.

Do you know if there is a way to prevent or block automatic updates to the Android OS?
It seems that when the OS is updated and the ONN4k restarted, it loses the ability to connect to ethernet and loses or trashes the connection to my USB memory stick. The only way to restore that is to do a factory reset and avoid the system UPDATE button. THen I can once again connect to the internet via ethernet but still have to reinstall apps and re-format the USB memory stick.
Any ideas on this? Thanks.
I cannot find a way to disable the OS firmware updates as of yet, they pissed off a lot of people with this move.

Amazon apps are not transferable but most 3rd party apps work fine

Does this box have access to the Xfinity Stream app?
You can load almost any apks on the box, check with Xfinity to be sure but from what it looks like you can download it through the playstore
There's no xfinity stream app in the play store so you have to sideload a fire tv version of the app. However on Android tv the side guide doesn't work on xfi steam.

Hmm.. i followed this to the tee but can't get it to see the usb hub and Ethernet or anything plugged into the usb ports. i have the otg cable not the adapter and evergreen usb hub is the only difference's. even went into the developer option and change it from charging to RNDIS reboot and it changes back to charging
Be sure that the usb debugging is off during reboot

Picked up 3 yesterday at Walmart. Question, been seeing here and there chatter about the cheap android boxes having malware and or botnet setup in them. Have you heard anything about that? Walmart is a US company but you know these units are made overseas like most. Thoughts? I run vpn anyway but irregardless putting your Google info into the units plus passwords is enough of a problem if they wind up overseas. Great video btw👍
Yes we have seen and tested these boxes and you can be sure that the ONN is not one of them from factory, most malware comes into play when the bad boxes do app updates and or firmware updates. be sure to run your VPN and have the malware and virus protection on to help shield you. I just checked it and everything is working on my end, be sure the permissions are set on the downloader

My ONN. Box just stopped working. It has a blinking red light when I plug power cable to it. And doesn't respond to buttons. Any idea?
I would start with unplugging both TV and Box for a few minutes no less than three! Plug all back in and let it boot up, if the box is still not working be sure it's not the tv, do a factory reset as per the manual.

I didn't make my question clear . Before side loading was banned I used to enter a code for a particular channel that I wanted to add . Is there still a list of channels and corresponding codes .

@@spenceandretti5135 Be sure to change out your HDMI cable just to verify it's not at fault also, I have seen this happen many times. Ok there is a button right next to the HDMI input that you would press and hold from the unplugged off then plug in until it boots up into a factory reset

Yes this is as good or better then the Firestick and can be so called jailbroke. The new Firesticks firmware will not be able to.
i went thru your steps and now all i have is a non functioning Wolf Launcher screen. nothing will launch and i cant get the google launcher back.
Do a reset as something is not correct in the setup. You can also delete the wolf and reinstall.
Onn Tv box does not play well with my VPN. I have to turn it off to download some things
Use their passthroughs if needed, if it as that.
I think passthrough is also called tunneling if I'm correct

Yeah, that's why I show the add on but I have really not had a problem with storage. I run a number of apps like netflix, max, all the standards along with 4 special IPTV apps and haven't touched my external storage yet, I just use it for movie library and such I already owned and burned.
This box is £55 ($69) in the UK. I would try it otherwise 😃

8GB internal storage is bad bruuh. U barely can install 8-10 app then it full. Unless it can read from your USB flash drive.
Yes it reads off the flash, I have mine loaded, stress testing it, it hasn't stumbled at all.
Firestick's down fall. Amazon did it to itself. And everyone knows why.

Not real worried about it such as the ONN unless you are using a one of the tainted boxes from China such as the 96, they do not take any of your info and I always check for rip scripts on every box. Most electronics offered in America are from China and some other Asian countries. Use common sense when online with VPN, Virtual Credit Cards etc.
