    Those hatches you made in the last episode look so good! And love seeing TotalProtect in action! Awesome work ya'll are doing 💙💙

      Glad you like them! TotalProtect has all our hard fiberglass/epoxy work covered - awesome! Can't wait to show off our top and bottom soon 🩷

    Doing good work! The barrier coat process is so satisfying after a lot of sanding and fairing. We spent about 4 months doing our bottom work, fixed about 40 blisters.

      Yep! Ines had at least 1000 blisters last haulout, and hundreds more between our previous 2 other boats before that.

    A solder sucker is very handy when de-soldering a component. It sucks up the melted solder; you can use a syringe or an ear wash bulb for this also. Great job with the repairs. I normally don't care for boatyard videos, but yours are quite fun.

      Thanks, never heard or thought about this - might make things easier next solder job. Cheers!

      We have a pickle tree in Hawaii, the fruit is super sour!

    • @sailorama
      @sailorama  3 дня назад +1

      The pickle tree and the candlestick fruit look similar, but I think it's the latter 🙌

    I think the soldering irons were the problem, not enough heat as i usually add solder to a tough joint in order to get it started and make good contact, melt some on the tip and you need a 50 Watt pencil type iron that plugs into 120V with a little stand and water sponge. You also need flux cored solder, rosin flux, makes joints perfect and flowed and shiny. You also need tweezers to hold things that are hot. Too funny and great work overall. Looking good!

      Yeah definitely - both our soldering tools were not getting hot enough, the gas one getting blown out and running out of fuel. I think it could have been prettier 😆

    Nispero? (Loquat) Maybe…
    Nice video! 🥰😎🤗❤️

      Maybe - loquats seem much more round though. The mystery fruit/vegetable almost reminded me of starfruit...

    The Victron sola charger is the best. Pay more but a great product.

    A quick google search gives the name of candle fruit or cuajilote. 😉

      @sailorama  3 дня назад

      Candle fruit is definitely it! Thanks! Next time I see it, I'll taste - not harmful to eat apparently.

    The base and catalyst do not weight the same. Although your paint will set up. Supposed to be measured by volume not weight.

    • @sailorama
      @sailorama  3 дня назад

      True - says right in the instructions, measure by volume. You'll see us using the 'small yogurt cup' method in the next video, which is measuring by volume, but it's messier and less precise in the end 😆

      Love your videos by the way. I did the same thing but at the beginning of a kit. By the end I had about a quarter of the base left over and no catalyst left. My paint has held up just fine. For a few years now.
      Keep up the great work! I’ve been watching since you started

    Well diodes are much more affordable than new solar panels 👍 pity the dji is not so repairable

    • @sailorama
      @sailorama  3 дня назад +1

      It always amazes us what can and cannot be repaired...

      @@sailorama I love the fact that you bother trying to repair stuff that other's would throw out ❤
      Those repair skills you're learning might enable you to earn some $$$ in more remote ports too, keep note of what parts you use regularly and keep some in stock. being able to repair solar panels in remote places could make you a very valuable person 🤞

  • @rainfinger

    Great video, having had to do the same change with our solar panels, anchored in Curacao. Did you know Donald Trump Ads are playing on your channel?

    • @sailorama
      @sailorama  2 дня назад

      Good luck with your solar panel repairs! Also yes - I'm certain every kind of ad plays on our videos, because we do not control the ads (other than we can turn them on or off) and ad types are determined by viewer taste, what google thinks it can sell you 😉
