Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on the death of Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal

Harris County Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal was shot and killed Friday in northwest Harris County. Deputy Dhaliwal was a 10-year veteran of the force. He leaves behind wife and three children.

Very eloquent- this really hit me. He was an American hero- the best of us. It's why I served and my kids are serving- because of Deputy Dhaliwal. We need more like him.

The Sikh belief is a deep and honorable religion, whole to decency and tolerance to fellow man. The mayor was so well spoken.
A callow and cruel gunshot from behind....well....it's a reminder Texas still proceeds to execution....was that lethal injection?
For the individual at the trigger, a cop killer....can you imagine how motivated the bloodhounds on your trail might in fact....be as dedicated lawmen?
For the family, the loss of a man who would indeed serve a city, a county...a people....

The DA of the county in which Houston is in is Democratic. She’ll likely put him in life in prison. Which is just as huge a punishment.
