Mercy,i can't wait to go shopping in Texas for my next round of boots,i started wearing boots in 1963 due to living in New York i didn't get anymore until 1986 I've been wearing them every since, some folk don't believe i don't wear shoes but I don't have had any since the 80's,I've got to very old pairs.
I only have one pair of Nike shoes for the last 10 years I haven’t wore them once in a while I’ll slip them on to let dogs out as I don’t like slippers I have 15 or something like that maybe 18 pairs of cowboy boot most are that nice soft oiled looking calf
Thank you for having all these examples to show. I have black ostrich leg ones and yes your average person mistakes mine for lizard or snake, & even alligator
I have a pair of smooth ostrich skin boots and they're my favorite pair of boots. I didn't know that ostrich skin was so strong because it's so soft also. Very informative video! I love the look of the smooth quill boots you presented best. Looks so cool!
I still have pair of pangolin boots now they are illegal they are my most valuable pair I own I'll never part with them love the full quill ostrich and also the ostrich foot leg toe cut
@@guillermodvl i found a nice pair of justin ostrich on ebay for 40 bucks. They are d width but im on verge of a wide boot. Does the skin stretch easily?
Do ostrich skin boots keep its shape like cow leather boots since it is so soft and thin? I'm thinking of getting a pair of smooth or full quill ostrich boots but I hope they don't wrinkle and end up looking like a piece of rag. Except for the unique, exotic, and expensive look, wouldn't calf skin be a cheaper option if one just wants the soft feel.
That's a great point, calf is a great alternative option, if you want the properties of ostrich without the price. Now, obviously a different look... I still think ostrich will hold up longer than calf, but yeah not a bad choice and compromise.
I don't know about producing it's own oil any more than the natural oils found is most other leathers... Generally a cloth works pretty well but I find a little leather lotion works best to loosen dirt and to keep the leather conditioned.
They sure can be! Though a bit harder to find these days, for multiple reasons. Also leather companies have gotten REALLY good at making elephant prints on leather, so if you see an elephant boot and it’s under a few hundred dollars, it’s probably printed cowhide.
I only like the leg part of ostrich don’t like boots that look like they have a disease also don’t like wen you scuff it looks terrible and hard to fix I like the look of the the leg looks awesome the way they piece it together
@@Drew-gx7ig thanks for the sub! I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. Most of the brands like Dan Post, Ariat, Justin, Tony Lama are on the same level it really comes down to styling and particular things you like about each boot. If you don’t have a favorite brand, don’t pay much attention to them and just try for yourself. It’s what we do.
Well, think of how thick elephant leather is usually cut, especially in boots. If you shaved down elephant to the thinness of ostrich skin, the ostrich would have a higher tinsel strength, according to my research anyway. Pretty cool stuff, thanks for watching and for the kind words!
I love a good pair of eel skins. Such a cool look, and you're right, super soft. The durability on eel skin is some of the worst though, I've seen them tear like Saran Wrap.
Not easy for me if go mexico because where good quality, need width andxsize also problems with vat, sale, international taxes.i asked somebody question in mexican boot store from yourube but no response.they have google spanish translation to english.still no excuse.
Awesome video. I just got some pieced ostrich boots and absolutely love the style. You're totally right. They're such a classic look.
Somehow just saw this, love your channel!

How do you treat the ostrich leg boots? Is it true that you just need to wipe it with cloth because it produces its own oil?

I thought elephant real skins on rio Mercedes, other brand????.
I’ve heard Anderson Beam is good as well.
Who manufactures that particular boot (leg ostrich)
Dan Post

I use Heel and Sole Edge Dressing for that.

Full quill ostrich cost 300 dollars to 600 dollars depend on which brands cowboy boot companies.
