    • @squishie96
      @squishie96 2 года назад +6

      @@JeanTheDweller it’s a matter of dowry. In Thailand, the parents of the couple must agree on a sum, which the groom and/or his family must pay the bride’s parents in order to marry their daughter (There are no limit to the sum, so it can go from just a few hundreds, to millions and millions, depending on the families). Traditionally, it’s to show the bride’s parents that he and his family have enough wealth to provide for and take care of their daughter. It’s also a way to show off their riches, especially if the dowry is high.
      Prior to the ceremony, the groom, his friends, and family would carry gifts and money and parade their way to the bride, who sometimes would have her bridesmaids blocking the path, jokingly demanding bribes.

    SOA: it is not really practiced in all households… I have seen people in my family do it so I thought I would share… IG this is all related to Hindu Marriages… and pls stop saying shit stuff… this is all just for fun… and a brother would love to give her sisters a little something after their marriage so this is one way of giving it… our brothers give us the money themselves… we don’t force them to… I was very small when I saw all this start so it’s obvious that we never forced them to give money… the family of the brother brings out the envelopes from the house and the brother gives them to us and then we step aside from the door of the house so the bride and groom can step in
