Was a Kings fan since the 74-75 season, before Dionne. A very big reason Kings hockey exploded in L.A. in the 70's was Bob Miller, the best announcer in NHL hockey. Your review of that famous, unforgettable game was exceptional. Thanks.

That was the year I started collecting hockey cards! I wish someone would post a video of that third game of the '75 preliminaries between the Kings and the Leafs. Do you remember the ugly stuff that took place in the third period of that game?
Bob Miller was certainly one of the best voices in the game. You listen to him while watching YT videos of Kings' games from the 70s and 80s and he's very knowledgeable and professional. He's right up there with the likes of Gallivan, Kelly, etc. who could call a game objectively without slanting towards either team playing.

A really cool hockey rewind would Paul Kariya's goal in Game 6 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final, Ducks versus Devils. Gary Thorne's memorable call, "Off the Floor, On the Board." Kariya, the Ducks captain and main offensive threat with a history of concussions, had been knocked unconscious by an open ice it by Devils captain Scott Stevens. He had been off the ice for 4 minutes of playing time before making a dramatic return. In his first shift back on the ice, Kariya almost put a rebound in past Martin Brodeur. Shortly after, Kariya screamed a slap shot past Brodeur, his first goal of the series propelling the Ducks to force a Game 7.

Back to back series between two teams, tons of legendary characters, an achingly stop-and-go last few minutes and the most iconic save in penguins history in the waning seconds against legendary defenseman Nick Lidstrom
Osgood finally permanently in the driver's seat after Hasek retires
Aging Lidstrom going for one more
Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Letang getting their first with Lemieux watching as owner
The end of the dominance of one of the great pre-cap teams long after it fairly should've ended
The heroic goals of Maxime Talbot drafted 234th overall
    So many great storylines!

The 1996 Aves-Panthers Final (my candidate for Worse NHL Finals Series ever)
The Patrick Roy "Statue of Liberty" misplay
Gretzky's 50-in-39 (or really, the strange criteria of 50-in-50, which has excluded Alex Mogilny and Jari Kurri)
Maybe the weirdness behind some of the biggest moves (the Sakic Offer sheer by the Rangers, where Colorado had to pray for the success of the parent companies' "Air Force One" in order to match; The Lindros Holdout and two-trade fiasco, the Fedorov/Carolina Offer Sheet)

In Edmonton the game is remembered as the biggest choke ever. Most viewers in eastern Canada went to bed with the Oilers well ahead, and were surprised to find out the next day that they'd lost. If I recall correctly, "Hockey Night in Canada" provided a better view of the game than you see here. I don't know if the audio of Rod Phillips' call on CFRN still exists, but he called it with the excitement it deserved. When the tying goal was scored, he screamed, "The Edmonton Oilers have blown this hockey game!"
This was only the second NHL game (game 2 was the first) for Edmonton's Randy Gregg, who had been playing in Japan for a couple of years.

Were any of you at that game? I was. There was a significant play that has never been highlighted or mentioned. It really was the play of the game (or mistake of the game). The Kings were down 5-0 and turned the puck over in their end. The goalie was away from the net and only Korab was anywhere near the puck. Edmonton picked up the puck, shot, and it hit Korab in the back of the leg and deflected wide. Korab wasn't even really defending . . . It just hit him. Strange but true . . . as a kid and huge Kings fan . . . I just knew that play was going to matter. Turns out it did . . . But has NEVER, in all the coverage I've seen of this game, been highlighted. Do one for the 1985 World Snooker Championship (Dennis Taylor vs Steve Davis). I know snooker is not popular in the US at all but it's a beautiful game and deserves to have a wider audience.

Or alternatively, you can do the 2013 World Snooker Championship (won by Ronnie O'Sullivan). I am intentionally not giving away too much about why these are great moments in snooker just so you can experience all the suspense while doing your research.

Can you imagine how much fun that would of been to watch #99 breaking records. I mean especially since that's when the 2 line rule was still in effect so big crazy open ice plays didn't happen like they do today. He was his own explosive play sequence

You guys should make an episode on the 2002 upset Montreal Canadiens playoff victory against the conference champion and archrival Boston Bruins. Saku Koivu had just come back from his battle with cancer and scored the game winner in game 3, pure Hollywood magic!

It was a landmark moment for two different reasons. For Edmonton it was them learning lessons when playing undisciplined against teams whom on paper were less valuable than a bag of pucks - on their way up to 5 cups in 7 seasons. For Los Angeles, it was their only notable high point in the 80s on their way down into punching bags for divisional rivals to get easy wins against until a certain savior from Edmonton arrived and turned their fortunes back.

Flyers vs Bruins 2010 playoffs. Flyers down 3 games to 0 come back to tie series at 3-3. Then in the deciding game 7 the Flyers find themselves down 3-0 in the 1st period but manage to claw their way back from that hole to win 4-3 on a late PP goal by Gagne. Truly an all-time classic series that deserves a deep rewind.

Please take a look at Masahiko Harada’s redemption jump at his 1998 home Olympics.
If you explore the context from 1994, it’s awesome.
I don’t even like ski jumping, but I just remember flipping on the 98 Olympics and recognising that he was the same guy I saw mess up massively in 1994. What he did just made me cheer out loud for the guy.

I grew up playing hockey I’m 30 now I only really play drop in hockey, but in the 80s goalies sucked which was good cuz so did players sticks. But seriously look the goalie for the kings wouldn’t even dropped down on low shots... crazy how far the game has come.

I was there as a 7 year old I can remember the whole upper level chanting "Gretzky's a puss!". The fans blew the roof off the Fabulous Forum that night. I wanted to see a Lakers playoff game, and my brother wanted the Kings game. A few days before my Dad flipped a coin and obviously I lost.
