I watched a program 12 or 15 years ago about your ranch. I thought Mr. Donnell was very knowledgeable and detail oriented about the ranch and cattle. I can tell now i was right. Great podcast guys.
Enjoyed this. I’m new to raising livestock, I need and want all of the stories that can help me on this journey. My first steer has a beautiful red coat and he goes to the freezer first week of December. I spent about $500 on him when he was 12 days old and I bottle raised him. I’ve spent around $1,800 on his diet ($35 per week) because we purchased 120 acres of basically forests and mountains so I had to supplement hay, cubes and grain. All in all, we have around $2,500 in our steer, and that’s before he’s processed. 100% I’d raise his breed again, steer or heifer, his temperament is calm and he’s extremely gentle with his humans.
