I'm probably in the minority here....but this is my favorite Joe Jackson song. Have tried to pick a live version for ages and now here it is. Thanks so much for posting.
the most underrated performer ever! was able to see him live late 80's and mid 90's and too damn amazing. From Punk to modern rock ,top 40 and classical blues ..awesome . JJ is amazing !!!!!!
I was there! Front (and I mean front) row (Sydney - 1991) to the stage left of Joe, between him and the late Mindy. I remember this one very clearly until now. The 2nd best concert I have ever seen, after Led Zeppelin in 1972.
I’d been wanting to see JJ ever since he started recording. Then he moved to America & I thought that all was lost. Luckily I saw him in 2019 in Cork in Ireland. What a musician, so talented & under rated. His music evolved over the years & is still evolving…genius.
Just another amazing Joe jam. When they created the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it's entertainers like this they had in mind. A true entertainer with guts to go in several directions, and nail them.
Yes, I agree STRONGLY that Joe Jackson is a phenomenal musician in all ways. I just love his WITTICISMS and the social commentary in his songs and lyrics! His early songs to the latest... doesn't matter he is a consummate professional, with any genre out there! Perfectly JOE.
Joe Jackson is a genius. This whole performance is stunning and Zummo's solo is fantastic. "Its my life and ill do what I want,,, people try to put us down.." Brilliant.
I'm a huge Joe fans and embarrassingly enough I too seem to get Teeley and Zummo mixed up all the time. Saw Zummo play at the last show of the US leg of the Body and Soul Tour. Saw Teeley play on the 2nd show of the Pre 'Laughter And Lust' club tour in 1990. That show was one of the best I have ever been to.
this is a great track from a fantastic album. im sure if the general public listened to this album and worked out what its all about they would love it also. this is his most underrated album he has ever written. also one of his best.
THANKS so much for posting! Glorious, powerful and passionate! Locked in my head as I awoke on my 62nd Birthday and watched the Letterman version. Catching Joe live in Richmond, VA during the Night and Day tour was awesome!! NOW I will go for a 14 mile time trial ride on my bike, "'Cause I'm gonna be....19 forever!!!!!" Woo Hoo Hooooo!
19 Forever. Whenever I hear this song I think of someone who wore that number on their baseball jersey. Like Joe Jackson he could qualify as one of the the most underrated stars of his era. I'm talking about Tony Gwynn. He played his entire career for his team. They have a statue of him at the entrance to their ballpark;and his number has been retired. #19. 19 forever.
such an amazing concert, i had this live show on VHS my whole childhood and it was the most influential music video EVER!! Still going strong Joe, good to see!!!! :)
I saw this concert in Birmingham and like DigbyCat I'll never forget it. I've seen JJ live several times since, but I don't think he's ever been quite as good, and with such marvellous musicians, as on this tour.
Graham Maby was brilliant and established the sound. However, according to the JJ Archive he took a break for this tour and album and it was Rick Ford on bass.
I guess the archive is allowed to be wrong sometimes. Maby is introduced in the third song of the show: ruclips.net/video/cIabmf76zio/видео.htmlsi=zZJUHw0-ekujfwkU
"Blaze of Glory" - IMHO Joe's greatest album....completely ignored by mainstream critics and radio.... and completely overlooked by most rock fans. Oh, and backstory - he wrote this tune at the time when famous 'retired' rock bands decided to start touring again - Stones, Pink Floyd, etc....brilliant bit of satire.
To be fair to the rest of the unappreciative world, I think it was an arrogant move of Joe to release the CD as a single track without breaks. If you've got a spare hour, this is a fantastic album. Otherwise it's a bit frustrating.
@@JJfanz Well, that's debatable. I would say it is specious that an artistic decision should get characterized as an 'arrogant move' (He was hardly the first recording artist to segue one song into the next on an album). This album was not marketed by the label as aggressively as others. Plus by the late 80's, recording tech was capable of separating the tunes into singles (Nineteen Forever was released and played on radio as a Single). IMHO hardly a reason for this album to have been relatively ignored. It has some masterful compositions on it.
@@2ndEndingVintage thanks for the reply. I was responding to the 'completely ignored by mainstream critics and radio.... and completely overlooked by most rock fans'. I think that the artistic decision is very important in that context, as he deliberately made the album less accessible for the sake of art (actually I remember reading a comment from a pissed-off dj or reviewer at the time). He certainly wasn't the first artist to segue one song into the next, but it's still a courtesy to the listener to allow navigation through the album, as well as the radio station. Yes, 'Nineteen Forever' was separated out as a single, but it would have so great to hear 'Blaze of Glory', 'Evil Empire', and others played as album tracks - they certainly deserved it. Thanks for engaging!
This song reminds me of NHRA Champion funny car racer John Force, age 70 and still racing 11,000 hp Funny Cars doing 330+ mph in 3.3 seconds in 1000 ft !!!
,,,,,and as with the original recording, its "one more time!" but as Joe and the rest of us know, nineteen forever aint going to happen, and one more time doesn't happen either...….
I'm probably in the minority here....but this is my favorite Joe Jackson song. Have tried to pick a live version for ages and now here it is. Thanks so much for posting.
One of his best for sure
I'm there with you then... and so is my brother
Mine too!
One of mine too!
this plus "Happy ending" and "You can't get what you want". Never enough of listening!
Yes, Joe's bassist (Graham Maby) is PHENOMENAL....Joe regularly introduces him and calls him the greatest bass player in history in concerts....
Yessss 👍😉
agreed!
Joe Jackson is one musician I never tire of listening to; he weaves chords like no other.
Need a lot more of it
I think they live that old cuz they have a fear

Was also at that concert. Good memories.
Genius. Joe Jackson is a total Genius.
Graham Maby on the bass is also a genius.
So are the rest of this band!!
One of my favorite songs. Thanks.

With the heavy drum intro IT all sounds: Awesome!
Totally agree .His music and voice are timeless .Thanks Jo Jackson for many years of constant high quality music

Pure perfect energy amazing joe jackson

Think it's Tom Teeley on guitar

No he entendido nunca como me puede gustar tanto Joe Jackson. Incomprensible porque nunca llegó a ser una superestrella, pero me encanta y emociona.
Cuz u got good taste kid
Such an artist is Joe, a REAL musician, and he got it right, we dont want to live forever, just stay 19 forever in body if not mind.
I’m doing just that (61 & counting) 🍺🚬
One of my favorite Joe Jackson song. Nicely done live.
This show NEEDS A BLU RAY!!!
Absolutely

I was there in Richmond with you!!!
Me too as is ,just turned 62
Hands down my favorite JJ song....He did a great version on the Letterman show in '89
My oh my what a vocal blend!

One of my fave tracks of his. And what a band
An explosion of passionate musicianship! I got to see him live for the 3rd time June 6, 2017 in Greensboro, NC!
A peerless performance unmatched by any live band ever.
And again and again!!Absolute perfect this live performance!! Tenks!
He is the man. Amazing song and performance
Now, THIS is MUSIC!!! GREAT JJ song! Definitely one of his best songs--and this album was fantastic....but most of his work is fantastic anyway....
So hard to pick a favaorite, but this is certainly way up there! I saw Joe tonight in Chicago. He was great, as always!
such an amazing concert, i had this live show on VHS my whole childhood and it was the most influential music video EVER!! Still going strong Joe, good to see!!!! :)
"...and ever and ever and ever and ever and..."
Una de las mejores...long life Joe !!!
I was at this concert - unbelievable ❤
Cool tune Joe is the man !
Yeah Joe is THE MAN and he's got the trash cause we got the cash.
Total class throughout.
I was there front row, stage left. (No BS) Between Joe and Mindy. My 2nd greatest concert, after Led Zeppelin in 1972.
Definitely a favorite track.
Mine too. Great lyrics. Really hits home.
"it's my life and I'll do what I want...it's my life and I'll do what I want...people try to put us down"

I love Joe and his music, thanks again JJfanz, looking for live version of big world tour...I'll be also 19 forever lol ;-)
killer guitar in there
What an artist!
love how JJackson refers to Tom Teeley as "my guitar hero"..years before the game was a thought...
he aqui mi niñez. orgulloso, hoy no se crean temas de este nivel dios.
Great performer
I was nineteen in 1984. Ether my first or second year of college. That year was a mixed bag but I will file it under the best of times.
Me I was nineteen in 1989 the year this song was released.
The year I passed the baccalauréat
Oh to be 19 again with it all ahead of me..
This band is unreal.
@rutwilk
Definitely one of his greatest. Most kick-ass intro, as well. Great fun to perform the drum part to this.
Yes, I am trying to learn the drum part. It is a classy piece.
he is just a fantastic artist
What a great tune!..maybe his best..

Cute girl on guitar singing the high harmonies. If Joy isn't there, somebody's got to do it.
Actually, I think that is Joy Askew. I didn't realize she played guitar also.
Did some homework, its not Joy. That's Mindy Jostyn on guitar. Evidently shes a hell of a violin player also.
.....and sadly, she lost her life to cancer. A very pretty and talented young lady.

Iloveyouuuuu
I saw Joe perform this wearing what looked like a steel wool Elvis wig.
ma ma my generation
Is the very funny official video on RUclips?
I notice Joe had the band Dress Sharp.
@rutwilk: It's my favourite too, so you aren't all alone.
What's the tour year?
Got this album, only song on it that’s any good. Maybe it’s just me.
You’re entitled to your opinion! I like some of the other songs much more than this.
JJfanz A matter of tastes I guess. Was hoping the entire album was along the lines of 19 Forever. Great song.
Well...so am I
JJ... Cale ?
No sax?
