- Hey Bud! What a classic MTB trail from Whistler! And to lead me down it, my bud Chris Kovarik, the legend himself!
This guy has the biggest calves I have ever seen and has won a world cup by 14 seconds! Yes 14 seconds… He is an incredible rider, with a unique style. Known for his World Cup wins, bike edit and his insane cornering technique he now also teaches MTBiking.
Follow Chris (Karver) on Instagram: @chris_kovarik and his coaching company is: kovarikracing.com
If you enjoyed this trail and want to ride it, I advise you to join the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association: worca.ca, this way you will be able to support trails like this one!

Chris Kovarik ladies and gentleman. Feeling lucky that I got to meet him in 2013. He definitely had a big impact on my career.
That's super cool to hear! Awesome edit Remy :)
Girl: Do you want to come inside?
Remy: I'm always going inside.
That's fucking funny.
Due to contracts and to keep my professional image I will not comment. That being said this is very funny.
Staying inside on some wet and slippery stuff
@@remymetailler ahaha legend
Thanks for another great video, Remy. This has been my favorite channel since you started it and it's awesome to see how fast it's growing! Also, I appreciate the pro tips and seeing them applied. Keep em coming! Quality content 👌🙂
Bikes n' Brews thank you!
Good stuff Remy, Chris is a real legend 👍🏻
Two of my favorit riders, amazing pace in does conditions! - If you add Sam Hill at some point it'd be perfect! 🤞
What a night...I watched a video earlier w/Gully following Wade Simmons and then THIS. Awesome!
I loved this video, really showed the speed you guys ride at 👏💪
Really great tips - equally for the ones I didn't know and for the ones I do
What a fun looking trail !
damn that looks fun! Merci pour la ride :o) Makes me miss true fall riding with the leaves changing colors.
4:18 Damn those breaks are hot boy!
Brilliant video, seriously shredding in wet yeowwww 🤘 more tips please 👍
You guys were really bombing the last corners section in the wet! I could not keep my balance taking a switchback in the dry, let alone wet like those!
That was sick!!!!!
Love to see one with Greg Callaghan when hes in the area, especially since hes in the Cube family!
Austin Metts almost happened this year but during Crankworx it's so busy..
@@remymetailler I could only imagine, keep it up man! Love the format
sick as per usual my dude
Nice avoidance of the decapitator tree at appx 10:15. I was ducking at my desk!
I got scared!
Wish I could ride as great in my 40s as the legend, the Karver!
Rémy, re numbness on your left hand, it may be the cold? Vibrations (maybe less high-speed dampening?) or too tight grip to compensate for the slippery terrain? 🤷♂️😅
Totally. It was because it was freezing..
Cold, wet and slippery. Just like the trails are all year round in Scotland 😏
sick!
So wet! I winced every time you guys hit the wet woodwork :\
Ride in the Fontainebleau forest next, same terrain, roots, rocks, ponds 👌
17:58 is why you came here. Absolute unit maneuver!!
Great format. Like the question and answer session. The video was a bit shakier than in past vids. Assuming the lowlight doesn't play well with the stabilization?
Daniel Eisen totally. The low light is the issue.
I think you’d give Chris a run for his money man!! All credit to Chris he’s a beast! But damn I think you’d drop him hard especially in that top steep section ;)
www.rootsandrain.com/compare13540,22053/
Remy seems to be getting closer but Chris is still a beast. Chris is still way ahead in head to head. I think he was having a bit of an off day here.
uhh mate chris is in his forties
Did you miss the last bit 🤔
This video is really a great look at those trails- beautiful. I'm curious about Chris' bike sizing- does he size down? What are the specs on his Intense Carbine, and how tall is he? Thanks.
You can message him but he is on a large and he must be 5ft10
WOWสุดย่อมากเลยพี่
pls as much vids as possible with Kirk Mc Dowall, super stylish dude
I have one more with him already filmed!
Hey Remy. You sais that you are a tester for Hutchinson tyres, which are not so popular here in the UK. What tyres are you running in this video? Looks pretty similar to most winter trailers in the UK!
I'm on Griffus 2.5 front and 2.4 rear with soft coumpound and prototype casing.
Enjoy your videos very much, thanks and keep them coming. I’d love to know what settings you use on your GoPro, i.e. colour temp, zoom setting, frame speed etc. Also, why head mount over chest mount?
Joseph Braz no chest mount. It is on my helmet. Iso 100/1600 or 800. 4k 24fps superview. White balance 5500. Ev -0.5. Stabilization:ON!
Remy, try these settings. Hypersmooth is having a hard time with those lighting conditions, this should help. 2.4k/60fps, 100-1600 min/max iso, awb, ev -1, hypersmooth on
S B what is awb?
@@remymetailler auto white balance
@@remymetailler auto white balance
@@remymetailler the most important thing is 60fps. At 24fps, there's not a lot hypersmooth can do to smooth out those frames in a dark environment. 60fps should do the trick
S B I will try again but to be honnest I can not see any improvement in 60fps. Also in 60fps with the 7 you can only film in 2.7k.
Actually the EWS in 2018 raced on Crazy Train, right next to Hey Bud. ;)
Levi Harapnuik pretty sure they raced Crazy Train and Hey Bud. Hey Bud was stage 1, crazy train stage 2.
@@remymetailler micro climate was stage 1
@@remymetailler It was microclimate and crazy train in 2018. You can trust me, I competed. www.pinkbike.com/news/your-essential-guide-to-ews-whistler-2018.html
Sick video. What camera do you use?
gopro hero 7 black
Ride Mt Seymour next
Where is hyper smooth🤔🤔🤔
Simon Haslinger she is here. Just on a strike sometime..
@@remymetailler To be honest, that was the bounciest footage I've see in a while
Thats how it works dude, it looks good only in the full sun, otherwise shaky as hell. Mine does the same:/
Can you share your gopro settings?
Ewart Built no chest mount. It is on my helmet. Iso 100/1600 or 800. 4k 24fps superview. White balance 5500. Ev -0.5. Stabilization:ON!
Awesome vid. But you need something that stabilizes the camera
Where was the auyo stability
Ewan Wright she is there. She goes on strike when the light is too bad.
@@remymetailler haha ok. Love the vids keep it up.
What Helmet do you ride with?
I have a Fly helmet
riding slower in wet conditions, what does fast look like lol
Curious to know what wheel size Kovarik is on
29"
Thanks!
How do you ride a double black EWS stage when track is soaking wet and its freezing cold?
REMY / PROS: Very carefully....but still very fast
NORMY RIDERS: No. You don't. 😂
Buddy.. I really like your video and content and stuff. But you need to get a GoPro with hypersmooth.
This one causes headache!
I do have one. Read the comment above. That's what happen when you ride fast down very dark trails. Maybe in a few years it will be stable enough.
Rémy you shred too hard 🤙🏼
Auto
Remy you definetly need Hypersmooth
I do have hyper smooth onand good Gopro settings. This is British Colombia. It is very very dark with light changes. The Gopro is just not good enough on those conditions. I can ride at RUclipsr speed and make it look smooth. But where is the fun...
He's uploading an awesome video in HD, why the complaints? Ha!
“I can ride at RUclipsr speed and make it look smooth.” BURN
@@remymetailler That's the most godlike comment I've ever seen on youtube.
I think you are one of the MTB content creators that could really benefit from getting a GoPro Hero 8. This video unfortunately was so shaky, I couldn't enjoy it.
I have one coming..
I thought it was brilliant, I like it real deal , you get a feel of what it’s actually like 😉
man you ask him tips and you barely let him respond
Best tip I got - don't try this at home.
Good ride but the footage is shaking, time for Hero 8
