Ooh - one tip I have is if you're flying to a major, make SURE your dance shoes, wig, obviously dress, anything you absolutely NEED to be able to go on stage is IN YOUR CARRY-ON
Thank you so much! One question though, when we arrive one or two days before, can we go sightseeing or should we stay put in the hotel and rest or something? Because my mom loves sightseeing and maybe we shouldn't be around one day before.
I would say so! Just not anything risky or *too* much walking. I'd say be back by the afternoon for a practice session, maybe tanning, stretching, and getting mentally prepared. 😊
On the self tanning, if I’m doing it myself, then I still need to plan an “appointment time” so that I don’t end up doing it at midnight the night before I fly out....... I always forget to actually plan the time to self-tan lol
I went to my first Oireachtas last November, and it was super fun. There are definitely things I regret, but I danced well, and now I know what to fix next time! I completely agree with the back-ups tip!!! I completely forgot my lashes last Oireachtas, and had to rush to try to find another pair. It was crazy! Definitely bring back-ups!!!!!! "You're warming up, you tear through a hardshoe--" Uh-oh, THAT face looks like that's happened before! XD Yes, buying the jacket was a great idea! :3 People at my studio sort of teased me for wearing it *non-stop* after the competition, but I didn't care, because I *loved* it.
Doing your best is what matters the most!! Haha, thankfully there are vendors with lashes available! But talk about stressful. lol It totally has!! During a practice though so not nearly as bad. That's really sweet! I don't understand why people tease about things like that. Makes no sense to me. I wore mine all the time, too! So represent, girl!!
One major thing that I remember was from two years ago when one of the girls was about to go line up(about 15 mins prior)and her soft shoe completely broke. Her mom used a hot glue gun she had for last-minute-gem-gluing and glued her soft shoe. We’ve done it ever since😂
What advice do you have for Irish dancers preparing for a major?? 💁♀️

Are you going to Worlds this year?
I’m not! I haven’t competed for awhile and have actually never qualified. But it’s cool with me! 😊
