  • Make your own Hose Clamps for garden hoses, radiator hoses to hammer handles. Hose clamps have many uses: fuel lines, water hoses, oil hoses, hammer handles, etc. This video shows a demonstration of a small tool that allows a builder to fabricate any size hose clamp from a wire in just minutes. This is also a great emergency tool for repairing/replacing hose clamps in a hurry. It is built similar to the clamptite tool only better.

    I'm ordering a hose clamp tool from your Amazon store. This solves a problem that has bothered me for years. Thanks!

    It is great that you realize that people all look at things differently. There is always more than one way to successfully do a job. Multiple options is always good. Great video.

    I made a "Clamptite", although a different design. Using it takes a little more time, but I agree with you completely. The box store worm gear clamp ends are terrible and can be hazardous to your health. The wire clamp is very tight, low profile, and smooth (if done correctly). It may take a couple of trys to make a good clamp. Once you learn though you never forget.

    Russ, thanks for all your videos. They are greatly appreciated. I would rather give my money to you than Amazon, so let us know if you want to make and sell this tool. It’s probably not worth it for you, but figured I’d ask. Between you and Greg Judy, I feel I don’t have an original thought, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

      Thank you!! I was told one time by a very smart man. No matter what you think of someone has thought of it and done it. It's like in 2011 when we interseeded cover crops in to our corn fields. I thought that was something no one else has done. Then I found out gabe brown has been doing it for 20 years. Lol

    this is a nice video for non standard size pipe fittings - for standard Garden hoses - just buy Quick Connectors (QC/QD). Any comments on quick connects Russ?

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  Год назад

      I tried a few different types of quick connectors. Did not have good results with them. I do have some VCR type connectors like those but only on part of the farm.

    Good video Russ. I bought a Clamp Tight tool at farm machinery many years ago. Use quiet often. Always thought I would like a bigger one and use heavier wire. This seems like the right size.

    Back-dragging a file is ok.there's a video where a guy did an exhaustive test of efficiency and file wear, and back-dragging was *more efficient* and did NOT cause more file wear, in fact, it cleared the teeth a bit.

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  2 года назад +1

      I seen the file video on back dragging it was a good one. I do believe back drag doesn't hurt the file but there are a lot of folks out there that do. Thanks for watching!!!

    Nicely done. +1 on banging hands on the @#&$ screw hose clamps: that's why I'm here looking up how to build a tool like you did. Also, I drag my hoses sometimes while driving the side by side and I'm keenly aware (skeered) of the potential to lacerate the crap out of a hand w the tag end.
    Interesting that you're wearing a sweatshirt with "Witchita Falls" on it. I grew up in Bowie and still have property there...but the apparent basement shop and the trees outside the windows don't look like this part of Texas.
    Thanks for the video.

    Two thoughts or a thought and question. Put a nut on the Bolt and run it up to where you want the hole and mark the center of one flat and that will Center on The Bold and keep it from turning. What kind and size of wire do you use is it soft or is it hardwire? Stainless steel wire generally being harder wire. I have a factory made device like you showed but I got it at a yard sale and have no idea how heavy a wire it can safely work.

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  2 года назад

      That is a good idea maybe another video of the wire hose clamp tool. Lol. I use up to 17 gauge wire with this tool that is about max for it. If you check out my Amazon store in the description I have a link to some wires you can use. I really like this wire for this tool www.amazon.com/dp/B01FVQVNCQ?ref=exp_russwilson_dp_vv_d Thanks for watching.

    I think I'm going to order one from Amazon. The hose clamps catch on everything when I drag the hose around the garden, very frustrating. I wonder how well it will work on soaker hose in the garden.?

    Why so much wasted wire

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  Год назад +1

      I don’t know how else you would do it. That wire is scrap to start with. If you add up the wasted wire. It would be less than tag end sticking on a screw hose clamp which is waste. Any ideas on how to lessen the waste? Thanks for the question.
