Hi, we would recommend you buying the Подорожник (Podorozhnik) card and deposit, for example, 200-300 rubles there for the beginning (depending on how often you are planning to use metro). You can use the Podorozhnik not only in the metro, but also for land public transport, such as busses and trams. A metro ride currently costs 60 RUB, a bus/tram/trolley bus ride - 55 RUB. Each time you validate the Podorozhnik card in the metro it will show you the remaining balance. The card itself (the piece of plastic 😊) costs 60 RUB, but is still makes sense buying this card instead of buying tokens, since the card eventually makes your trips cheaper (the more trips you make the cheaper they become).
