The comments on this vid (I'm sorry, there are FAR too many to reply to!) really show the more supportive members of the WoT community, and the more toxic members of the WoT community. Good to see WT isn't the only military/tank game with both extremes ;-)
The gun mechanic is you have to zoom in a bit first and this can be improved by using equipment you can put on your tank training your crew to max or getting a new gun with exp

@@wapniak666if you can't see the difference between war thunders "health bar" system and world of tanks health bars, you are blind. War thunder has health States for individual parts that need to he destroyed. WoT just has health bars and some internals.

@@wapniak666 bro. Claiming they are anything similar is just dumb. Yes they have to quantify how damaged something is... But WoT uses them like conventional health bars, and war thunder uses them to simulate the difference between damaged but running poorly and dead.

@HowLongDoesItTake4Dads2BuyMilk it has a lot of skill involeved. You need to learn penetration of tanks, their accuracy, spotting range, damage , weak spots and map possitioning
@@timsvarietygaming i realized you didnt lower your ammunition to lower your chance of ammo rack, which alot of people do in warthunder. for your information, lowering your ammo in world of tanks does NOTHING for reducing you ammo rack chance.
@HowLongDoesItTake4Dads2BuyMilk armour is very much existant. If an E100 player knows how to angle fo example. And premium ammo doesn't give you 100% of penning. Accuracy doesn't mean nothing as when you have that 0.35-0.3 dispersion you propably are gonna hit. Only your spotting range is show on the map. Map knowlage is REALLY important as you need to know where your weakspots will be visible, where can you flank without the entire team knowing, where can you sit without being spotted, etc. And you will be much quicker when you know weakspot rather than look for them in battle giving you a significant advantage. I'd say this has more skill than spawning in a light tank with a bush and killing everything across the map while hiding begind a building so no one can see you or gatting a kill in the light and killing a heavy who didn't even get to the fight yet with a plane he can't fight against.

I used to play Warthunder and I really liked some aspects of it, but yeah I had the same experience as you, AFTER I drove a good while to the front lines. I gave it multiple chances and still got frustrated like hell.
No health bar, map familiarity matters, tank familiarity matters, crew skills matter, and as for CAS air strikes, you just gotta grit your teeth and get it done before they come for you.
@@Sg-lw5qq if that happens in WT, it's a bug. In WoT it's an actual feature. Played WoTB for years up until the end of last year. Saw that there was actually WT mobile, dowloaded it, played it, can't go back to WoTB.
1: Use the minimap (zoom it in to make it bigger) - that's always a main key. 2: The zoom blooms when turning the turret wich means it's harder to hit accurat when shooting in full bloom. Wait for it to shrink. 3: Set up your tank before entering the battle. You didn't have a rep.kit, health pack nor a fire extinguisher 4: There's also the option to add equipment to your tank to make it even better (1-3 slots to the left of the shell-layout in the garage) - but however: You did kinda great no matter no seetup :) -Try it again with this and maybe you'll get a little boost... With regards from one of the WoT-players :)
I am a 10 year + WoT alpha player. That number 1 mentioned above is really soo true, people never seem to look at it and devise a plan of attack based just on sheer numbers shown on the mini map. Peace thanks and GL hope to see ya on the battle field. oh one last thing, "When in doubt take hard cover look at your mini map and devise a plan" rushing in has a 35% success rate.
dude didnt even try to play world of tanks. He didnt do the tutorial that tells how things works aka not knowing to let your gunner zoom in before firing... He couldnt have looked very hard because theres a whole map for test driving. He logged in jumped in top tier match then went in to low tier match said this sucks and dipped.
There is no test drive ( we are so jealous of you warthunder players ) I have played this game for 5 years and i whish for test drives everyday. If you have any questions, i can answer.
@@wapniak666 Almost Working err, Armored Warfare wins the day for once, as you can test drive EVERY vehicle in game, not only next in research and premiums. Tier 10 or some obscure premium/event vehicle, all are present in vehicle catalog, right click -> vehicle testing area.
There is also a Training Room mechanic (accessable from the menu next to the "Battle!" button) that allows you to play training battles or just mess around on any map, with any tank you like. However, you need at least two people to launch a Training Room. It is one of the really old features I wish they would update and improve but since it makes them no money I doubt it will ever happen (just like the replay system).
@@bosto23Both games are for losers, saying wot ain't realistic is so dumb like ok? No one plays it for realistic crap neither it is intended to be realistic. Tf is your argument then?
Aiming works like Call of Duty where the reticle blooms out after firing or moving. You have to wait for the circle around your crosshair to stop shrinking before you fire to get accurate shots. There is also an RNG element to how accurate you are when fully aimed. Also, you can take out crew and components, but they also have HP, with an RNG element that gets you a critical hit if you roll high.
Besides that, one of the aspects of the various tanks is gun accuracy. Barebones tanks can be upgraded before you can buy the next level tank, plus there are crew aiming skills you get via XP, and enhancements that you can add on via credits you earn. Also, when facing opponents, keep moving and'or hid behind cover, which I did see you do. Angling your tank away from being broadsided, as front armor is better, and never expose your rear. I don't know how much that matters in WT, but it's one of the first things you need to focus on so you don't die. Tthe walkthrough mission you had with the Sherman should have gone over those basics that with you, though it's possible you skipped the dialogue. Look into those improvements before giving up on it completely. As for me, I've never played WT, but I have watched a lot of videos of the gameplay.
Except that Wargaming's RNG is so horrible, you still don't get accurate shots except by luck. You can literally miss 3 out of 3 shots at 100m, with a full reticle shrink, in World of Tanks.
@@MrEricmopar also depends on your gun.... Like I would expect my Centy AX to be more reliable then my FV4005. Misses on fully aimed shots is expected when you can one shot almost anything in the game.
Writing on the screen said “…destroyed”, a voice said “enemy armour is destroyed”, a “1” appeared next to your name in the kills column and your dog tags flashed up on screen. Apart from those 4 things there wasn’t much else to say that you killed the enemy tanks! 😂😂
You could make a video with German (he also does English content sumtimes ) youtuber Mailand. He's one of the best players out there and plays both games. He could teach you a lot
great video, totally different perspective on this game than regular WoT content creators! just to clear up a few things about mechanics and whatnot: 1. penetration/damage mechanics: the game still simulates the shell and the armor (penetration vs ricochet vs bounce on AP shells), it still is possible to one shot tanks depending on the armor and the gun or if you ammo rack them 2. penetration/armor mechanics: different parts of tanks do have different armor thicknesses (and effective armor is used for calculations), meaning hitting the side/rear/weak spots (like capola) is more likely to deal damage 3. aiming mechanics: scrolling/zooming is one way to go into sniper mode but left shift also does this; low tier tanks are very inaccurate (also depends on the specific gun), higher tier tanks have much better accuracy, also bloom settles down if you stop moving/turning for a bit 4. autoaim: if you right click on a tank it will automatically turn your turret and gun towards the center of that tank; for aiming at moving targets it is best to stop autoaiming and manually aim ahead, also better for aiming at weakspots/etc.
Yeah I learned a LOT from a few of the non-troll comments here, and played a few more matches a couple of days later. Night and day difference after understanding the aiming accuracy reticle ;-)
This is the first video I’m seeing from this account! RUclips decided to recommend it on its own! More familiar with your WT content, but I’m happy to explore what you’ve done here as well!
As regular WOT player this brings back memory, I guess this is how i looked when I staerted playing wot for first time. And when I play WT sometimes I bet this is how it looks like for other players. All in all good video. :)
I used to play it alot before i swittched to wt a gew times a few tips 1- wait for the green circle to be fully zoomed to to increase chances of hitting yes hitting is rng dependant 2- there is an ammunitation option called special ammunition it gives higher pen for thr same damage but costs alot more 3- on the left side next to your health bar you can see the damage you did and the damage that was done to you 4- you get xp for doing damage so damage or helping to do damage through spotting or tracking its more imlortant than getting a kill
Oh boy, that spotting mechanic really got you lol, its hard to figure out. I played world of tanks for 7 years before I swapped over completely to war thunder for the past 5 years.
Viewrange and camouflage is the biggest learning curve from WT to WoT in my opinion. The rest like map and vehicle knowledge comes overtime, also using the minimap I didn't realise how good the "Kill" message is on WT until seeing you not understand that you killed that first guy.
3:58 Well, more like Call of Duty than Counter Strike, also, i think the circle is the reason why the gun was so inaccurate, smaller it is higher the chances to hit (literally the opposite that i know, in DCS if i don't remember bad larger the circle better the chances of your missile to hit), but i heard its RNG
I've been playing WOT for about 6 years. It is addictive and very frustrating. There are a lot of game mechanics to master but generally they get better as your crew's skills improve.
9 year WoT vet here and I always forget how rough this game can be for new players. In some ways, it can be harder/more frustrating than WT because of the hitpoint system. I recently got back into WT and it's nice not dealing with pay-to-win tanks.
sry, but we have those in WT too xD, also the progression system is way worse, since you need literal ages to get top tier vehicles, which is way better in wot
@@teros7146 i am a wot player with like 1-2 years of WT experience. The progression is indeed awful. Upgrades on tanks are even more awful (good luck playing without fire extingusher). @@ldSt3345 wt players go "ewww hit points" when wt has some pretty massive problems too, and wt also uses a hp system for module and crew damage, just like wot But ya know, they'd rather not think about that
Funny you should mention that ... they just revamped progression in WT (there's a vid up about it on my WT channel from just yesterday) and are continuing a "quality of life" roadmap for next year. Its a LOT better than it was even just a year ago. Its a coin-flip how it will turn out, of course.
@@timsvarietygaming WoT/WoWs grind to top tiers is still a fraction of time needed compared to what WT asks of you, also you don't have "x vehicles per rank" requirement, so you can blitz single line to play with King Tiger or whatever else you fancy. It won't be good for your game experience, but you can do it. HP bars also means much more fair economy - you've done most damage but someone stole the kill, no biggie, you get paid the most. Spotting targets is also viable from economy standpoint unlike WT, also everyone can do it, not only select light tanks. Also idea unheard in Snail dev team - economy boosters DON'T EXPIRE, so you can save them for proper gaming weekend.
This was a really fun video to watch and an interesting insight on how difficult it can be to get into this game. Ive been playing this game for almost a year now and ill give you some tips on how this game works. Tanks in this game come much like in war thunder through the tech tree, you have tanks from Tier 1-10. The game gave u 3 starter tier 3 tanks and each battle u complete you will get battle experience depending on how much damage you did, spotting, and how many kills you got. With the battle experience you can research tank modules to upgrade your tank and get better guns, turrets, engines, tracks, etc and also research tanks in the next tier. Along with battle xp u get free xp which u can use to speed up researching the modules(You can do this by pressing the research button above your tank stats). There are additional tanks called Premium Tanks that go from Tier 2-10, they dont have any researchable modules and give u more credits and costs less to repair. The reason you were having difficult hitting your shots is because the game has a dispersion and bloom mechanic where when u aim down, u have to stand still and wait for the aiming circle to fully set so that ur shot is more likely to hit. If you shoot without aiming, it will most likely go somewhere completely different. Different tanks have different dispersions and aiming depending on the size of the shells, shell velocity, gun dispersion, aiming time, etc. On the slots left to your ammo is Equipment. Equipment can be used to improve different stats of your tank like reload speed, dispersion, your view range, hull and turret traverse, speed of the tank, etc. Some equipments work better in certain tanks and worse in others, and some are almost completely useless like the spall liner. On the slots to the right is the consumables, consumables are one of the most important mechanics in the game, usually from tier 5-9 i use small repair kit on the first slot(you can repair tank modules like your gun, tracks, turret, fuel tank when they are damaged), small aid kit on the second slot(your crew members can get killed if they hit certain parts in tanks), and a manual fire extinguisher in the third slot( for when you get set on fire). At tier 10, if you really want to, u can use the more expensive consumables like the large repair kit and medkit(they repair all modules and heal all crew members), or combat rations(which improves the view range, reload speed and dispersion), or automatic fire extinguisher(which stops fires automatically without u needing to press a button)
*narrator says enemy vehicle destroyed* *tank blows up* *it says enemy vehicle destroyed on the right bottom* Tim: "I have no idea if I destroyed him or not"
I can definitely see how the game is unintuitive for new people though, it's supposed to display that information under the reticle too, but the setting is clearly off by default, also you can tell he's playing at 1440p because the UI is tiny and the only way to fix that is opening up the source files and modifying the scale numbers for the 1x UI scale setting, which is far too much to ask of a brand new player
Fun fact: You can learn maps by clicking the icon next to the "To Battle" icon, click "Topography" and it will show you some map options and you can learn some maps. also when you're aiming, the big circle around where your aiming is where your shell is most likely to go. Wait before firing and make the circle go as small as it can.
Great video! It's always interesting to look at people's first experiences and reminisce about mine. As you've figured out, World of Tanks is fundamentally an arcade shooter. Any sense of realism has left past its first years - and that's perfectly fine. I personally find it much more entertaining due to the silly, yet fun mechanics present and the fact that balancing can be done without having to worry about historical accuracy. Not sure if WT has this phenomenon as well, but there are many people with tens of thousands of battles (so thousands of hours) logged onto World of Tanks who routinely do as well as you did in your first battle. Don't worry about your performance - we all start somewhere, and what separates the wheat from the chaff in this game is the drive to improve. Both WoT and WT have a steep learning curve, with their own set of mechanics. If you're interested in continuing (and I hope you do) I recommend looking at Quickybaby's youtube videos, as he has excellent content for beginners.
Okay, so you're new to WoT First: That thing in the middle is the "Armor Penetration Indicator" or API for short, it tells you wether or not you can penetrate the enemy, and that circle, it's called Dispersion it's pretty much where the shell lands, to aim accurately you could stay still and wait for it to shrink, buy equipment (but not Improved Ventilation), use the nationality food (in consumables there you could find repair kit, medkit, fire extenquisher, etc), or train the Brothers in arms perk (crew perk) Second:There are 5 different type of tanks, Lights, Mediums, Heavies, Destroyers, and SPG (or Artillery) each boasting different types of gameplay and tanks have different way to play. Versatiles pretty much could do anything, Assault breaks trough an Enemy Flank, Snipers shoots tank at a distance, etc. Iconic tanks are the Maus (Same as WT, boast Thick armor) E100 (but uses a Krupp turret not the Maus turret you guys use in WT) IS-7(Easy to get ammoracked i think?) FV4005 (The Sh*tbarn, with 183mm gun it penetrates pretty much every tank) T92 HMC (An SPG holding the record for the biggest gun 240mm), and many more Third: There's codes to get Credits (Buys almost everything) Gold (A more valuable credits) Camos (those texture on your Patton) and even a Premium/Collector tanks. There are time limit on the codes most notably for newcomers, those who sign up could redeem a newcomers code pretty much on a part where it's an ad for Wot on RUclips, and their official too, such as "TANKBOOTCAMP" 250k credits, 500-1000 gold (don't remember exact number) and a tier 5 premium British heavy, the Excelsior complete with 100% trained crew. Or those from the ads gives you the same but you'd get a tier 6 Medium Cromwell B instead, and 3 rental tanks. For more tho, check out their channel incase you wanna find out more that's all

As someone playing both games for 10+years There is not a lot of skill that translates between wot and wt While healthbars can feel unnatural for someone coming from WT I would say that they are very intuitive and familiar for majority of gamers, like 98% of games are using HP bars As you pointed out wot is kinda like counter strike, it's a very gamey game Skill floor is quit low but skill ceiling is A LOT higher Armor penetration calculations are quite accurate and realistic tho your gun damage stats ditcates how much damage you deal to enemies, you can look it up in garage tl;dr gun with avarage so called "alpha" of 390, deals on avarage 390 damage (there is +/- 25% rng spread tho) That circle around your reticle is aiming circle and it basically tells you how much spread you have when you shoot The smaller it is the more accurate your shots are If you move or move your turret around it grows, if you stop and aim it gets smaller At lower tiers in general tanks are not very accurate In the bottom left corner next to image of your tank crew and modules you can see your damage death and kills, also kills pop up on kill feed and you can see it on score screen (tab)
I started on WoT and switched to WT specifically because of this. The abundance of RNG and extremely long time to kill is extremely unintuitive and unnecessarily infuriating. Almost every other game gets it right where, if you aim correctly, your shot will go where you aim it, and the damage you deal is consistent. WoT can punish you even if you do everything correctly. This is why esports are uncommon in WoT and much more common in WT, despite WT's inconsistency.
@@kyntac187 Oh never knew that WT has an actual esport around it, is it thriving? The thing about 'killing everything in WoT is long' is that the WoT fanbase has an exactly opposite problem from your complain: they complained about the game being too short nowadays. In WT if you die you can just respawn. So getting oneshotted means you can just respawn with different tank (or planes) and maybe try to hunt them back or do something else. You can't do that in WoT, as everything is designed with no respawn in mind (WoT maps are not playable if every tank can one shot each other). So HP is designed to allow players to do mistake and still reengage to the fights or even YOLO through otherwise bad situation with some predictability. This no respawn thingy is both a blessing and curse, as it also allows the game to have what makes the game addicting and have bigger playerbase imho: you can situations where there are only few players left and you can duel to death. While in WT 'carry' means you basically plays effectively and possibly control the objective well, in WoT 'carry' means you somehow managed to flip a 1 vs 5 to a victory. So yeah, it's indeed the counter strike of tank battles.
@zeroyuki92 Yes the esport is really popular with players, but time to kill is a different thing to game length. Shorter time to kill with respawns is the most common for pvp games in general for a reason, and many games that still have a short kill time also often have no respawns (ie R6 and some WT game modes) There is a reason why this is whats popular, and why people complain about spongy enemies in PvE and PvP alike.
@@kyntac187 I only reiterate what WoT players generally think about HP, short game time is one of the most popular complain people have nowadays and I see practically no complain when they made low to mid tier way spongier (by HP buff) in an update a few years ago. Different game for different people, I guess.
Though for most of the time they might as well be 1hp for each module since almost every shot that can penetrate instantly kills that module in a direct hit
Its not even remotely same. In WT you can shoot a void area of a tank 100000000 times and not kill it. In WOT the tank would just explode because it ran out of HP WOT is pathetic
@@fishjohn014Pathetic? It's just different, both are games that people enjoy. Though wot is far more teamplay oriented. I say that as someone who played wot since almost release then switched to WT somewhere in 2019.
Difficulties per game ranked. WT: Knowledge 10/10 hard Vehicle Mechanics 6/10 hard Intuitive game mechanics (shoot here to kill, hide here to live, etc) 2/10 hard Twitch mechanics (fast stuff) 7/10 hard WoT: Knowledge 10/10 hard Vehicle Mechanics 4/10 hard Intuitive game mechanics 12/10 hard Twitch mechanics 10/10 hard To me, wot is way harder. Sort of like playing call of duty against a bunch of red bull addicted kids, killing and surviving is very difficult compared to playing arma against a bunch of dads. Even the best players cannot clear a whole flank alone, whereas in wt 10-12 kill games are common.
Yes it matters where you shoot someone on their tank. Every tank has armor at different thicknesses in certain areas on the tank so if your gun has enough penetration on standard or gold rounds then you can pen them in certain spots. Also the guns aren't "inaccurate", it's just a combination of your crew not being 100% trained because you need to play the tank more to increase their training to master the tank handling and they have additional crew skills for each select crewmember of the tank for different rolls that helps a ton. Also the guns on the tanks just have their own unique handling and if you go into the research area on the tank and hover over the modules you see all the statistics for how fast the gun can (aim). You have to wait for the aiming circle to fully tighten on the target for itnto be the most accurate shot the gun can do but even then every gun has different attributes and some just have more spread aswell as do more standard damage depending on the caliber....there's a lot to world of tank and it's very competitive and well thought out. The only arcadey thing I'd agree with maybe is the hp but I enjoy it. Gives you an idea of how many times you can get potentially slapped by someone before you die if they pen you every time and if you k ow how much damage an enemy tanks gun does if they hit you then you'll know if you'll survive it or not (unless they ammorack you and your tank explodes)just like in warthunder. I'd get it another chance!
You are SPOT ON! And speaking of penetration, a lot of the penetration points on a tank are in theory like a real tank with armor being of different thicknesses. There are many considerations including angle of the shot. Tank angling makes the possibility of a ricochet instead of a penetration shot (for example).
getting a tier 9 tanks is nice, but unfortunately it's just meatshield. However, you played a lot better than I expected. The reason i preffer WoT, over WT, is that it's more arcadey. Realism doesn't necessarily mean more fun.
Make minimap bigger (use + key). Use the training mode (menu on right side of battle button). Start at Tier 1 and move up after learning the basics. Use mods to make the game better for you visually (Aslain).
High gun inaccuracy? That moving circle when you aim is the targeting circle that gradually shrinks for someone. Let him shrink and then shoot. Second tip for the newbie, use equipment and consumables on tanks. Equipment will improve individual characteristics of your tank (including accuracy), consumables will repair damaged tank modules, put out a fire, or heal an injured crew member.
You were firing without paying attention to you sight bloom, each gun has different handling characteristics as does the tank. Each tank has armor that is different thicknesses in different places, so you have to aim the gun, then fire when fully aimed at a tanks weak points. If you shoot a tank in the frontal armor it has a higher chance of not penetrating. It does register where you were hit in the lower left and when you kill someone, it displays in gold font above the minimap. The minimap also shows your location, the location of teammates, as well as the location of enemies that were spotted. Moving your tank or gun makes your aim circle bloom, increasing the difficulty of making your shot. Throwing up a rifle and firing without aiming causes the same misses. You also didn't put any equipment on your tanks which lets you set up the tank the way you wanted to play it. Also you carried no repair kits or crew first aid kits, also you crew was untrained, a mechanic like the equipment that lets you specialize your crew. Tanks used in battle stay in battle until the match ends, then you get that tank back to the garage. In short, aiming matters, tank upgrades matter, crew skills matter and equipment matters, none of which you took into account. You were also playing different types of tanks, ie lights and heavies without playing them to their strengths. You tried to play them the same way, which simply doesn't work well. That said I also play WT for its attention to realism, but WoT is about battle balance, with each type of tank having an affect on battle matchmaking. 3 battles is just not going to give you the full sense of the game mechanics, but I appreciated watching you try the game.
Just a few tips (if you bother giving another try on WoT): On the bottom right corner of the battle screen there's a minimap. Inside this minimap there are three concentrical circles: a green, a white and a yellow circle. The yellow circle is the range where the vehicles can be draw / redended on your screen. The white circle is the farthest possible range that you can spot someone, if you have a crew and equipments for that. It's a range of 445 meters. It's the same for all players and tanks, so you might consider that when you're wandering through the maps, if you "know" (by experience) where the enemies normally are positioned. The green circle is the limit of where you can spot an enemy vehicle. As you're new to the game, at the lower tiers and at the very beggining, you will face only "bots" (IA vehicles), and will have only "bots" as teammates (the little grey icon at the side of the nickname of teammates and enemies). As a suggestion, when facing bots, let your bot teammates spot the enemy for you, and try-out the sight recticle, the "precision" fire (less RNG) or the "burst" fire (more RNG), and things like that.
when it comes to aiming you should definitely use equipment/wait for the circle to go to its minimum size before firing. ( also use first person for aiming its way easier )

@@saulmoore7541 thats true, but keep in mind, that a mistake in wt is more likly to be the end of your game, in wot, you get most of the time out of the situation, even if it was a big mistake, so wot is more forgiving. Yes there are more mechanics and they are more complex, but again wt has a much smoother learning curve and is not so overwhelming.
As a WoT streamer and vet, I could say a lot of things, but I do want to address the concept of HP. The model is HP based but the tanks have complex armor models and damage can be amplified beyond the standard amount of damage you do per shot through mechanics like ammo rack detonation and setting the fuel tank on fire. Additionally, each tank has other modules that can be damaged as well as crew members that can be injured. Your driver gets killed? Tank goes slower. Your engine gets damaged? Tank goes slower. Your engine gets busted? You are stuck. Your tracks get destroyed? You are stuck. And these are just a few examples. In your first game you played in the tier 9 Patton, your barrel gets damaged which reduces accuracy. Hope you had fun and thanks for trying the game out!
I came from World of Tanks to War Thunder years ago. It's funny you somehow don't know basic mechanical differences between the 2. Did you just completely ignore the existence of World of Tanks all these years? Lol
@@WirableCrown1 I noticed in the 2nd match that at one point a tank just up and vanished from right in front of me for a few seconds. In the moment, I assumed server lag?
@@timsvarietygamingyou lost line of sight to that enemy for long enough for him to get despotted, unless target is actively being spotted it stays visible only for around 10s Spotting in general is quite a big mechanic and almost a game on its own
@timsvarietygaming Each tank has a very specific role to play in the battle as well, and each tank class gets specific bonuses to help it. It's been years since I have played so the things might have changed but I remember it like this. Light Tanks: Nerf to total HP but bonus to view range and camouflage. The role is to spot tanks for the team so they can see and shoot them. Mediums: Average on everything. Role is very flexible and depends on the tank in question, they can help heavy tanks fight, take shots of opportunity (shooting tracks off a tank you can't pen but someone else near you can) and flank with light tanks. They are very versatile. Heavy: Easy to spot with low view range ( means its hard for you to spot aka make visible hidden tanks on your own, they will see you before you see them ). Bonus of HP and heavy armor. You take the hits and punch back hard. Keep the lights and Mediums alive if you can, you need them to help you spot other tanks. Tank Destroys: Big guns, high dps, highest pen, but low hit points on average. You get a bonus to stealth and accuracy. Hiding behind bushes makes you extremely hard to spot. SPG: You get a top down view of the game to launch Massive HE shells across the map. Near hits or direct hits cause damage and daze the crew of tank you hit making everything slower for them. Reloading takes forever and you have no armor or HP. HE shells rarely do full damage as the full damage is only if you pen, but light tanks you can pen but they are hard to hit. Kinda like this. Light counters heavy, heavy counters Mediums, medium counters light, and SPG is a pain in the rear haha. Not an absolute but a general rule. Each tank is special and has ita own best play style. Some heavy tanks as fast, and some light tanks have huge guns, some mediums have lots of armor.
Im a wotBlitz player and im kinda Glad found your channel 😁 im always curious about how warthunder player feels when they tried the WoT pc version Thank you algorythem 👍🏻
WOT player here 14 years exp and listening to this was comical! I don't blame you for all the mistakes you make and I bet a lot of players who are new to the game make the exact same mistakes
I always recommend starting with the Story Mode Tutorial, it basically tells you everything you need to know, and gives you some rewards to help get you started.
As someone who has played wot for 11 years, this was a fun video to watch. That being said, much like warthunder, this game is way better to play when you play with friends, or atleast thats how i feel.
The only thing that really translates from WT to WoT is knowledge. Knowledge of how to where you can penetrate other tanks, what different shell types do, angling your armour, etc. WoT is all-round a far more arcade style game. I am an ex-world of tanks console player, due to the devs running that game into the ground with poorly thought out updates, so i switched to war thunder on console and then eventually to PC (although i really wish they would transfer my console account to a PC one 😢). Anyway, from someone with plenty of experience in both games, just stick with WT it is just the better game.
@@psycho_chicken_9589 yes but they currently aren’t running the service because of a large number of requests, which has been the case for more than a year now so i can only imagine how many requests they have piled up. It’s almost as if they don’t want people spending money in the gaijin store. 😂
@@euanisles9122 ok, didn't know that but at this point i won't even try to speculate why they aren't doing it cause i'm sure it's the most dumb thing possible!
I would definitely not call war thunder a better game. Not because its worse, but because they are far too different to compare properly. War thunder is semi-realistic, you can die within one shot, spotting is based on your own eyes and situational awareness, there is no RNG regarding shooting, just way too many things differ in my opinion to be able to compare them properly, and on top of that, you also get IFVs, APCs, assault guns and CAS along with tanks. World of tanks is very arcade-y, accuracy and penetration usually depend on RNG, spotting is done automatically, healthbars (but you can still get destroyed in one shot by getting ammoracked and can die by losing all crew altough it is EXTREMELY rare), and other things like that. They both have tanks, balance issues, pay2win and lengthy grinds, but thats about all they have in common. So please dont go around calling one game definitively better than the other.
@@BlackoutGootraxian yes but when it comes to these games they are the definitive 2 main games in the armoured warfare niche, and while not similar gameplay wise, they get compared a lot. What makes WT better in my opinion is down to the way each game is heading. WT is having a bit of a resurgence after the constant economy and quality of life improvements that they have introduced alongside major updates this year. WoT on the other hand is on a downwards slope. It’s is extremely pay to win, far more than WT which is would argue isn’t at all, but the amount of premium hull-down monsters that oversaturate the matchmaker is ridiculous. If you want the whole rundown then watch Chems’ video whether you love him or hate him on why the game is bad, but frankly there is too many issues to touch on with WoT. The only positive i can think of is free sixth sense for everyone which i can imagine would improve the new player experience exponentially, but aside from that i feel that WoT is not headed in the right direction.
Yeah I went back and re-watched the footage after the fact, my guess is that circle of dotted lines is meant to represent the gunner zero'ing in or something. Now, this is a sentence that I absolutely NEVER .. and I mean **NEVER** .. thought I would type ... but I think I prefer War Thunder's bouncy-suspension system .... if nothing else, at least the horizontal accuracy is on point.
@@timsvarietygaming Well yes, all the "aiming" quirks you're familiar in WT like bouncy suspension, shell deviation when firing on the move, gun laying precision and rangefinding all are condensed into RNG aiming reticle. "just wait for circle to shrink" vs 1h+ hour presentation about gunnery to understand and counteract whats happening.
@@Panocek But after that hour, you have some degree of control over where you’re shooting, even when things like bouncy suspension are getting in the way. No matter how much you play of WoT, that circle means your snap shots are completely up to chance. At least in my opinion anyway.
@@carrott36 And thats entire point of RNG. To reduce skill gap. In WT good, experienced player can mop the floor with rookies without real chance to retaliate.
@@Panocek Well, the problem there is the matchmaker. At the very least it should take your K/D and attempt to match you with similar players. I do get where you’re coming from, but in my opinion more experienced players shouldn’t be skill-capped like that. They’re the one aiming their gun, not their gunner.
The accuracy is because you didn't wait for the aim to complete, signified by the circle of petals getting smaller as you keep the turret still. It's a bit like waiting for the turret/reticle to catch up with your cursor in WT.
Some tips even tough i play the blitz version: - you can set the game up that it shows how much damage a player does to you. - the outline closing up is your aiming circle and staying still a second or two makes the shot more accurate.
The Patton Tank was given away free to all players during this holiday event. I think it's the only time a Tier IX, maybe anything above a Tier VI, has been given away free in the game. To test-drive a vehicle you can set up a training room (click on "Random Battle" in the upper center to select other modes), but I've never learned how to do this.
Training rooms are handy but hard to get anyone to join anymore. They used to be popular, especially when you could climb hills. Wg took that fun away and the fact u still have to pay for tank repairs and spent shells makes it less likely people will bother with training room.
yeah this game is not as much about vehicle combat, when i play i treat it more like a MOBA, or something similar - because it is. Things like positioning, damage, trades, etc matter so much more, but micro skill also matters. Honestly i never really understood the comparisons between wot and WT because they both are just fundamentally different
Inaccuracy comes down to your aim reticle. If you notice every time you stop, there is that ring around the crosshairs that shrinks. That judges how accurate your shot will be, but accuracy is also part of an RNG mechanic along with damage based on caliber. Every caliber will have a range of damage they can deal, and it is pretty much a roll of the dice as to if you damage high or low for your caliber. It can be frustrating when you low roll a shot. Your hit points increase as you progress through different tiers, but damage also increases. Some top tier guns will deal insane damage like the 183mm on the fv4005.
It's interesting to see how some skills are carried over, and how much the WoT settings play in effect. Things like hit direction, map size, notifications, damage panel, etc. Also curious to see how knowing the damage mechanic in WoT plays a role. Personally, I enjoy both games, having played WoT for 11 years and WT more or less recently. If you're curious to the extent of actually trying to get better in WoT, then a settings guide would definitely be good. Likewise, a lot of the mechanics are not actually outright stated, so reading the wiki/ watching others talk about the mechanics would also serve well
I used to be a WoT player before some things pushed me towards giving WT a more serious try. It's defintely slower than a lot of FPSs, and at the time felt way more strategic due to that. It's also much more teamwork dependent than WT, which makes for somewhat compelling clan and competition play, and as such there is a lot of clan vs clan toxicity and competitiveness. Unfortunately during my time playing WoT, Wargaming produced a lot of powercreep, making some vehicles way less viable than they used to, generally ones with good armor. Combined with that, they started removing weakspots on a lot of vehicles. I do however appreciate their willingness to add non-service vehicles, though sometimes they have proven to be too willing to add things, not accounting well for balance. Important notes for understanding WoT: The green circle in your reticle is the volume that your hits can land in. If you sit still it gets to its minimum point, and moving and turning the turret takes it to its maximum point, both of which's size/range vary from tank to tank. The bottom left shows your hitbar and damaged modules/crew. The circles on the minimap primarily display detection, with the smallest being proximity, another being your view range. Different tanks are better or worse at visibility/detection, as well as have higher or lower camofluage values, both stats of which can be modified by adding equipment to your vehicle. Sitting still and being in a bush buff your camo value and you can see through bushes if you are close enough. Armor does matter, and angling works. You can see the pen figures on the tanks ammo, and you can buy better ammo for more credits or for premium currency.
You can go into the game mode selection next to the Battle button. That selection will bring up a screen of game mode choices. One of those choices is a practice mode. Guess what? The practice mode spends your currency playing it. You go in there with a buddy to try learning a weak spot. Shooting? Spends currency. Taking damage? Spends currency. It has been a problem I have raised on forums and sent to Wargaming years ago and to my knowledge has never been resolved.
There are so many things you are unaware of in the game. For Example WoT Tanks have thick and thinner armor in the same places as tanks do in Real Life (typically speaking as it is a game). Light tanks are spotters to assist artillery, TD's, and report locations and mark targets to request fire. Tank angling matters like real life defensive strategy. Haul down strategy can be effective to a point. Sooooo much more than a typical first person shooter. But it's true, it's a game.
I´ll give the same advice SQUAD players give in videos when a new player wants to join 1- communication, read your teams comms and map 2- know your vehicle 3- play your vehicle type to live longer and get the most out of the game and vehicle 4-remember, its just a game, it may trigger you but just so you know, every shell fired has RNG so even if you fully aim, does not guarantee a direct hit.
in the garage, look to the left, and there are 5 categories, firepower and all that stuff, press on the little arrow and you will get the damage, penetration, everything about the gun, and same on everything else on the tank in the other categories
Crew experience for each tank is a thing. So early account stage each crew member per tank won't be steller at shooting for example. When you get a crew team really experienced going through learned skill traits, they are like a cracked squad and run very effectively.
As a WoT player, I would LOVE to see you learn more about basics (also setting up your ammo, equipment and so on) and game mechanics, there's plenty of videos explaining everything. And THEN I would like to see you to start playing tiers 4-6. I think that would make a lot better video for both WT and WOT players watching - if you were just a little more competitive and familiar with the game. There are plenty of tutorials on the official WoT RUclips page, but also some of the most popular content creators are Quickybaby, Skill4ltu and DezGamez; I believe you can find everything you need there. Keep up the good work and good luck on the battlefield!
You should also do the same thing with Armored Warfare, the failed WOT killer. It's got more modern tanks and it's more centered around PvE as far as I know, I haven't played it in years.
You can change the reticicle and other gameplay graphics in the settings (where your player name is in garage.) Educating crews (crewbooks) and using in game mechanics (equipment,) this is upgraded with credits or gold... it improves the tanks accuracy and consistancy and such... rng is antiquated but game still has a niche in market and is microtransactional like most now.... learning curve is finding weaknesses in tanks and remembering your shell values vs various armor components on a zillion tanks...
1) Above the minimap in the right corner will tell you if you got the kill. 2) The lower left will show your health and who or what is knocked out. 3) Accuracy has RNG of +/-25% 4) I've always had an issue with you going into battle without a round loaded. That makes no sense. 5) The maps are way too small for upper tiers. If you are in a slow tank you could end up getting spotted leaving spawn on many of the maps if they have a fast tank with long view range.
The comments on this vid (I'm sorry, there are FAR too many to reply to!) really show the more supportive members of the WoT community, and the more toxic members of the WoT community. Good to see WT isn't the only military/tank game with both extremes ;-)

Accurate shots? Lol
You should’ve said how aiming works in pretty much all 3rd person shooters. CoD has aiming down sights which is 100% accurate.
@@MrEricmopar also depends on your gun.... Like I would expect my Centy AX to be more reliable then my FV4005. Misses on fully aimed shots is expected when you can one shot almost anything in the game.

great video, totally different perspective on this game than regular WoT content creators!
just to clear up a few things about mechanics and whatnot:
1. penetration/damage mechanics: the game still simulates the shell and the armor (penetration vs ricochet vs bounce on AP shells), it still is possible to one shot tanks depending on the armor and the gun or if you ammo rack them
2. penetration/armor mechanics: different parts of tanks do have different armor thicknesses (and effective armor is used for calculations), meaning hitting the side/rear/weak spots (like capola) is more likely to deal damage
3. aiming mechanics: scrolling/zooming is one way to go into sniper mode but left shift also does this; low tier tanks are very inaccurate (also depends on the specific gun), higher tier tanks have much better accuracy, also bloom settles down if you stop moving/turning for a bit
4. autoaim: if you right click on a tank it will automatically turn your turret and gun towards the center of that tank; for aiming at moving targets it is best to stop autoaiming and manually aim ahead, also better for aiming at weakspots/etc.
Yeah I learned a LOT from a few of the non-troll comments here, and played a few more matches a couple of days later. Night and day difference after understanding the aiming accuracy reticle ;-)

Funny you should mention that ... they just revamped progression in WT (there's a vid up about it on my WT channel from just yesterday) and are continuing a "quality of life" roadmap for next year. Its a LOT better than it was even just a year ago.
Its a coin-flip how it will turn out, of course.
@@timsvarietygaming thanks for the info. I’ll look into it.
I used to play wot but I switched to WT because I don’t like the changes they’ve done to wot (10 years playing wot)
You can get to top tier very fast if you buy a premium account, it's only 40 bucks for a year when it goes on sale
THINK HE CAN 3 MARK 20+ TANKS AND GET 20 8 TANK KILLS IN ONE BATTLE
OR SCOUT 10K OR GET LIKE 4000+ BLOCK DAMAGE
Always use an automatic fire extinguisher over a manual one.
@@c_01m26 Really upto you honestly, I have an ok reaction time so for me manual extinguisher is just better because it's cheaper
Ha ha yeah, As wot vet of 11 years I felt this because I have played this game for so long I would never know how it feels to get into this game today

"They have a health bar?..." was the same thing I said, prior to Uninstaller WoT a while back lol
I would love to see you learn to play WoT. I’m a WT veteran player, but WoT is my go-to game after a hard day at work. I love both games.

Meanwhile Tim's crew is saying new callouts like "THEY HAVE PAPER FOR ARMOR" but in the commanders voice
Makes me appreciate war thunder more
I just wanted to say just wait so the circle gets smaller so ur accuarate
Yeah I really wish WOT had a test drive feature.
Okay, so you're new to WoT
First: That thing in the middle is the "Armor Penetration Indicator" or API for short, it tells you wether or not you can penetrate the enemy, and that circle, it's called Dispersion it's pretty much where the shell lands, to aim accurately you could stay still and wait for it to shrink, buy equipment (but not Improved Ventilation), use the nationality food (in consumables there you could find repair kit, medkit, fire extenquisher, etc), or train the Brothers in arms perk (crew perk)
Second:There are 5 different type of tanks, Lights, Mediums, Heavies, Destroyers, and SPG (or Artillery) each boasting different types of gameplay and tanks have different way to play. Versatiles pretty much could do anything, Assault breaks trough an Enemy Flank, Snipers shoots tank at a distance, etc. Iconic tanks are the Maus (Same as WT, boast Thick armor) E100 (but uses a Krupp turret not the Maus turret you guys use in WT) IS-7(Easy to get ammoracked i think?) FV4005 (The Sh*tbarn, with 183mm gun it penetrates pretty much every tank) T92 HMC (An SPG holding the record for the biggest gun 240mm), and many more
Third: There's codes to get Credits (Buys almost everything) Gold (A more valuable credits) Camos (those texture on your Patton) and even a Premium/Collector tanks.

@@barronhelmutschnitzelnazi2188 i agree i sometimes go back and play WoT for fun i found WoT to be team really reliant as WT i can just play my own way and still have a huge impact on the game

@@sjoerdstougie hey, let me see your stats in wot, what is your username ?
As someone playing both games for 10+years
There is not a lot of skill that translates between wot and wt
While healthbars can feel unnatural for someone coming from WT I would say that they are very intuitive and familiar for majority of gamers, like 98% of games are using HP bars
As you pointed out wot is kinda like counter strike, it's a very gamey game
Skill floor is quit low but skill ceiling is A LOT higher
Armor penetration calculations are quite accurate and realistic tho
your gun damage stats ditcates how much damage you deal to enemies, you can look it up in garage
tl;dr gun with avarage so called "alpha" of 390, deals on avarage 390 damage (there is +/- 25% rng spread tho)
That circle around your reticle is aiming circle and it basically tells you how much spread you have when you shoot
The smaller it is the more accurate your shots are
If you move or move your turret around it grows, if you stop and aim it gets smaller
At lower tiers in general tanks are not very accurate
In the bottom left corner next to image of your tank crew and modules you can see your damage death and kills, also kills pop up on kill feed and you can see it on score screen (tab)
@@zeroyuki92 you cant say that it has realistic damage models and at the same time say it is designed so you can do more mistakes
The irony is that WT has healthbars but they are hidden from the player. You only see them in the crew/equipment colours.
Though for most of the time they might as well be 1hp for each module since almost every shot that can penetrate instantly kills that module in a direct hit
Its not even remotely same.
In WT you can shoot a void area of a tank 100000000 times and not kill it.
In WOT the tank would just explode because it ran out of HP
WOT is pathetic
@@fishjohn014Pathetic? It's just different, both are games that people enjoy. Though wot is far more teamplay oriented. I say that as someone who played wot since almost release then switched to WT somewhere in 2019.

To me, wot is way harder. Sort of like playing call of duty against a bunch of red bull addicted kids, killing and surviving is very difficult compared to playing arma against a bunch of dads. Even the best players cannot clear a whole flank alone, whereas in wt 10-12 kill games are common.
The green circle around your aim is the accuracy of the gun, the smaller, the more accurate it gets
His crew is 100% trained, they just don´t have any perks
commander *enemy knocked out* bottom right of the screen *vehicle destroyed* Tim there is no indication i got him
getting a tier 9 tanks is nice, but unfortunately it's just meatshield. However, you played a lot better than I expected. The reason i preffer WoT, over WT, is that it's more arcadey. Realism doesn't necessarily mean more fun.
3:07 you got like three 💀
Make minimap bigger (use + key).
3 battles is just not going to give you the full sense of the game mechanics, but I appreciated watching you try the game.
well said
Just a few tips (if you bother giving another try on WoT):
On the bottom right corner of the battle screen there's a minimap.
Skill4ltu plays War Thunder the other day and now you play World of Tanks. What an incredible exchange!
Skill4ltu got 6 kills first game, no clue what he was doing. WT is far less arcade but seems easier to learn. There are so many mechanics to learn in WoT to play well.
@@saulmoore7541 I mean wot is just really hard in the beginning, its learn curve is really bad, in wt the learning curve is alot better, because the basics are easy, but its hard to master.
@@teros7146 from everything I hear Wot is harder to be really good in. I has more mechanics you have to learn to use effectively. the basics like spotting mechanics in wot are far more complex than anything in WT.
@teros7146 you can respawn in wt... there are no respawns in wot.
WoT just feels wrong.
Even without WT existing I could never get into a game like that.
Same for me!
I used to play it all the time dropped it for world of warships now I can't play either one anymore after getting used to WT
It's qn arcade game.
I could never get into WT tanks. It should be called tank instagib. Planes are fine tho.
Sounds like you not a wot streamer but wot ceo 😂

@@timsvarietygamingyou lost line of sight to that enemy for long enough for him to get despotted, unless target is actively being spotted it stays visible only for around 10s
Spotting in general is quite a big mechanic and almost a game on its own
@timsvarietygaming Each tank has a very specific role to play in the battle as well, and each tank class gets specific bonuses to help it.

I have no hate against either game I like both World of Tanks and war thunder for their own reasons.
Tim uploads - always absolute kino
It looks like you have some kind of aiming circle that shrinks the longer your gun is still.
It's a bit like waiting for the turret/reticle to catch up with your cursor in WT.
both games are fun and enjoying (to an extend). hope you feel joy learning this new game
Some tips even tough i play the blitz version:
- you can set the game up that it shows how much damage a player does to you.
- the outline closing up is your aiming circle and staying still a second or two makes the shot more accurate.
I fr learned how to tank with tiger in WT and used it succesfully in WoT
The Patton Tank was given away free to all players during this holiday event. I think it's the only time a Tier IX, maybe anything above a Tier VI, has been given away free in the game. To test-drive a vehicle you can set up a training room (click on "Random Battle" in the upper center to select other modes), but I've never learned how to do this.
Training rooms are handy but hard to get anyone to join anymore. They used to be popular, especially when you could climb hills. Wg took that fun away and the fact u still have to pay for tank repairs and spent shells makes it less likely people will bother with training room.
KINDA LIKE MY EX EVERY ONE GOT IT
@@mellowrebel4618 he sounds chill 😂
yeah this game is not as much about vehicle combat, when i play i treat it more like a MOBA, or something similar - because it is.
Likewise, a lot of the mechanics are not actually outright stated, so reading the wiki/ watching others talk about the mechanics would also serve well
Him: * not giving the Gunner the aim time to aim properly*
Also him: my gun is very inaccurate
Me: I wonder why 💀💀
Thats the games fault
In war thunder you have to aim too, but you do it yourself and not with magical ring
@@taistelusammakko5088 u might be the most stupidest person on earth right now and I don't doubt that 💀💀
as a world of tanks vet who tried war thunder for the first time yesterday, this was fun to watch ;)
Important notes for understanding WoT:
The green circle in your reticle is the volume that your hits can land in. You can see the pen figures on the tanks ammo, and you can buy better ammo for more credits or for premium currency.
join the 51% statistic please
@@meesamkhan4767 Looking back I was just into 50% winrate. I don't care for the game anymore, so won't get up to 51%.
I´ll give the same advice SQUAD players give in videos when a new player wants to join
1- communication, read your teams comms and map
2- know your vehicle
3- play your vehicle type to live longer and get the most out of the game and vehicle
4-remember, its just a game, it may trigger you but just so you know, every shell fired has RNG so even if you fully aim, does not guarantee a direct hit.
in the garage, look to the left, and there are 5 categories, firepower and all that stuff, press on the little arrow and you will get the damage, penetration, everything about the gun, and same on everything else on the tank in the other categories
Aw man, this hurt my soul to watch HAHAH, hope you had a good time.
You should also do the same thing with Armored Warfare, the failed WOT killer. It's got more modern tanks and it's more centered around PvE as far as I know, I haven't played it in years.
Noted!
For accuracy , you must wait for that green circle thing to settle.
The mini map doesn't show players until they are spotted by another player.
1) Above the minimap in the right corner will tell you if you got the kill.
2) The lower left will show your health and who or what is knocked out.
3) Accuracy has RNG of +/-25%
4) I've always had an issue with you going into battle without a round loaded. That makes no sense.
5) The maps are way too small for upper tiers. If you are in a slow tank you could end up getting spotted leaving spawn on many of the maps if they have a fast tank with long view range.
