I just watched a documentary on the legendary Tippi Hedren discussing the making of this film. She was hurt many times on set, and it took a very long time to complete this film.
I saw this film the first time when shown at a theatre in Valencia, CA. The Actress Tippi Hedron was present at the premier. I loved the movie. Thereafter we visited Shambala Animal Preserve she ran in Acton where most of the movie was shot. I made a video of my visit to the preserve. Thanks for details on all injuries of people and delays that incurred due to natural disasters.
But you probably respect that wild animals aren’t supposed to be treated as pets and that their natural behavior is to be respected. Sure, save a cub and bottlefeed it if needs be, I’m all for it. But as much as one want to think he’s like a dog or cat now, they’re now. Only rarely will a tiger or lion remember “their” human fondly and play with him like he did when he was a cub. Most still get mauled if they think they can just walk up and think: hey dude, remember me?
I saw "Roar in Sydney when it was released in November 1981. I remember hearing all of those horror stories of behind the scene incidents. But what I remember loving was the cool soundtrack that had some great music and songs
I remember in the documentary the crew was asked why why why they stayed even after so many people got hurt. They said being in the presence of a magnificent creature became addicting
I went to SCPA in Cincinnati and my acting coach/Drama teacher repeatedly told me I reminded her of a young Tipi Hedron. I took for granted what an amazing compliment that was @the time!!!
I have not seen this movie as of yet. Acting in a project like this very scary. Melanie should have stayed away after leaving and spared herself surgery. Great informational video.
I wish you do a story, or several about how fashion changed between 1900-19500 or better yet, all the way to 1999. I think td be great, & I haven't seen a video about this topic. Thanks
For the way fashion historians reacted to their video about corsets, I don't think it's a good idea. It has dime great series about it too. I hope you like them!
Someone please tell me the guy got charged with child abuse, spousal abuse, and whatever else could be pinned on him for putting his family and others in danger with apparently no empathy to anyone's safety
Where and how were all those animals contained and fed? Was there staff just to tend to the care, shelter, water for all of those cats and for that probably scared elephant? Might need to go elsewhere to find answers. Humans usually have a choice about whether or not to participate, but untrained animals usually wind up being subject to extreme adverse stimulae in order to make them do something. That director had a 'hold' on the psychies of his family cast and crew. What was it? 🤔🙁 A sad, sick situation all around.
3:57 I watched Something Wild recently (per a recommendation from The Cobwebs Channel). Fantastic film! That is my favorite Melanie Griffith performance!
Roar leaves a long lasting impression and yes it is completely nuts. They say in the beginning that no animals were harmed, but to hear there were lions that were lost or shot is disturbing. Pity it didn't get a bigger release at first, the money could have been used to recompense the crew that were named, physically and emotionally.

Oh my God look at this I've been binge watching the channel and now new content??? What is this I must watch
Just wanna wish everyone a great day and to stay safe
Thanks, you too 🤗
Thanks. Have a nice day yourself!
For you too, Doc!
I will be steering clear of big kitties.
Great day to you as well!
Tippi Hedren after being mauled in The Birds: moar plz
That's what I was thinking. She suffered in Birds to let her husband torture her and her daughter with big cats. Insane.
In its own weird way, it feels a little like a Snuff film.
I mean…it seems like it came close.
Tippi Hedren must have been crazy to allow this--and even continue this after her own daughter was injured.
Yeah believe me there's not enough money in the world that would make me do something like that. Her husband was practically a walking lawsuit
This is why aliens won't contact us.
Damn. This man is insane!
have a feeling that timeline 1995 is gonna be a good one, also I recommend doing a video on Dino Bravo’s death
World's strongest man, Dino Bravo. Takes me back a decade or two.
Or maybe the death of Nancy Argentino likely at the hands of Jimmy Snuka.
I just watched a documentary on the legendary Tippi Hedren discussing the making of this film. She was hurt many times on set, and it took a very long time to complete this film.
Movies: No animals were harmed in the making of this film
This movie: EVERY human was harmed in the making of this film
Hey, here's a suggestion : Make a video that explains all the events mentioned in the song 'We didn't start the fire'....plsssss!!!
Wow. Who knew the denizens of the animal kingdom could be so savage.
WTF how was he ever allowed to make movies again.
Evil to love a film where people were injured.
i would love to hear the filming story of apocalypse now
@Maddox It’s been done a shitload of times.
@@pleasureincontempt3645 yeah i know
There’s a good doc here somewhere. I think it’s the one by Cinema Tyler.
Hearts of Darkness by Coppola’s wife Eleanor.
I added this film to my January Watchlist!
That was a dangerous film to do. 🦁
They then created a safe habitat for all wild animals. Bless them for bringing awareness. ❤
I would be terrified if I was on this set
Sheer craziness. Fascinating video.
I love animals more then anything but that’s crazy.
Absolutely love this channel but according to my calculations I should be watching timeline 1995 right now
I remember in the documentary the crew was asked why why why they stayed even after so many people got hurt. They said being in the presence of a magnificent creature became addicting
I went to SCPA in Cincinnati and my acting coach/Drama teacher repeatedly told me I reminded her of a young Tipi Hedron. I took for granted what an amazing compliment that was @the time!!!
BORN FREE THIS AIN'T
I have not seen this movie as of yet. Acting in a project like this very scary. Melanie should have stayed away after leaving and spared herself surgery. Great informational video.
I saw Roar in the early eighties as a child in South Africa . I have never forgot it. So much blood . Lol
This is the type of outcome that can only come from an out of touch Hollywood power couple with loads of cash and a team full of yesmen.
When someone says lions, am I the only person who in their head says “tigers and bears”. Every single time 😀😀
Oh, my!
Yup i even silently mouth the words to myself. Cant help it.
Poor Tippi. She's had to take on a Psycho, murderous Birds, and overgrown house cats.
Ikr
Great work ppl , I love it !
Certified Gold!!!!!
I wish you do a story, or several about how fashion changed between 1900-19500 or better yet, all the way to 1999. I think td be great, & I haven't seen a video about this topic. Thanks
For the way fashion historians reacted to their video about corsets, I don't think it's a good idea. Look for Abbey Cox, Bernadette Banner, Morgan Donner, just to name a few for a better aproach on that matter. Also, The Ultimate Fashion History channel, that you might like. It has dime great series about it too. I hope you like them!
"Hi, I'm Jonny Knoxville and this is ROAR"
Someone please tell me the guy got charged with child abuse, spousal abuse, and whatever else could be pinned on him for putting his family and others in danger with apparently no empathy to anyone's safety
the podcast “What Went Wrong” has a good episode about this movie! I cannot believe there were no deaths.
Except several lions who were drowned in the flood, or escaped, and were shot by law enforcement. 😢
How did I never hear about this??
Ikr it's a bit of an unknown gem of a film oddity and backstory.
Never even heard about this at all. Thanks!
A sad, sick situation all around.
3:57 I watched Something Wild recently (per a recommendation from The Cobwebs Channel).
Fantastic film!
That is my favorite Melanie Griffith performance!
This movie featured over 150 animals. Most of the lion attacks were real, and usually resulted in actual injury to the cast and crew.
Every single one of them would do it all again for another part in a movie.
Lol
CPS still should've been called even if this was the 80's.
This is the third time I'm watching a video on this movie. What has corona done😩
