Thanks for posting. I have always loved the trombone but then I bought a used, cheap euphonium with a dented bell and noisy valves. I fell in love with its sweet sound. By now I like it better than the trombone. Just spent some $ to have it cleaned, the dents rolled out, and the valves fixed. So glad I did. It is a fun instrument to play especially because it seems to express emotions.
Clearly does. I've been playing euphonium for 4 years and baritone for like 10. Love playing beautiful melodies more than fast solos. It's made for lyrical music.
I also play the euphonium. I started by playing trombone in the Middle School band. I was moved to Baritone. Then, in 3rd year High School was provided an Euphonium - and it has been my primary instrument since 1970. Today (54 years later) I still play my euphonium.
Im from South Africa and I started playing Euphonium in 2017 and I just love it. The sound and potential of it is just mind blowing 😭❤❤❤I love it with every cell in me
This video was one of the reasons why I switched to euphonium from trombone last year. You are excellent at playing the euphonium, also thank you for your service! I hope to be apart of the navy band one day.
62 years old and learned a new trick. Thank you Bryce for demonstrating this Euphonium. I had no idea there was such an instrument.. It truly has a beautiful sound.
I've been playing my trombone for over 36 years, and recently learned to play the Euphonium. I love it - I play Euphonium in concert band, but stick to the slide for jazz band. The Euphonium is such a beautiful sounding instrument.
Good video. I agree with you, but too many modern school band arrangements and compositions treat the euphonium like a crutch for the trombone section (and I played trombone from 1965-2010). What moved me to play euphonium on the side, was Grainger's, Irish Tune from County Derry back in 1970. I might also add, that I was able to study with the legendary Harold Brasch a bit in the early '70s. As an arranger for school bands (custom arrangements for my bands and friend's bands), I always gave the euphonium a true singing voice in the arrangement. I also tried to select musical compositions for my band that gave the euphonium the chance to sing. Thanks for the great video.
I just started playing euphonium, after having played trombone (Conn Director) for a year and then a trumpet (Blessing B-125) since last fall, both instruments having been used, and sold on eBay for ~$125 each. I bought the euphonium from eBay, a new one made in India by Sai Musicals for $287. It's not professional quality, but as my trombone instructor and others at a local music store conceded, it's an excellent value for the money. I'm having a lot of fun with it, and especially enjoy the rich, full sound of the lower notes. Upon getting the trumpet, I started getting 'addicted' to valves but wanted to try a valved lower brass instrument. I had considered the baritone, but decided it would sound much like the trombone, while the euphonium would have a richer sound.
I just knew that was gonna be the melody he played as soon as he said it. Danny Boy is always a win and Its always my go to aswell, it always sounds great on a euph
I too am a euphonium player. The number of euphonium gigs in the country is very low. Orchestras don't use them, big bands don't use them, rock bands don't use them. The only place you can get a paid euphonium gig is in the military bands and there's only a few of those available.
I used to play the same instrument for my NCC band in india (I was a exchange student from the us) it’s been 4 years since I played but I am joining the navy and I guess I’ll join the band
I‘m a euphonium player, too. Can relate to everything you said. Love playing it as well. What brand is your euphonium? I‘m looking for a new one and can‘t really decide. Any recommendations?
It looks like a Willson Band Instruments Euphonium. Based off their website, it might be a silver edition of a 2900TA or 2950TA. Edit: on WWBW they go for about $8669!
I like Baritone more than Euphonium, I’m a French Horn player at heart, but I bought a 4 valve compensating British Style Baritone Horn and I just love the sound. Euphonium is almost too gentle to me, I find Baritone more versatile.
I always thought the theme from Dynasty Bill Conti... was a French horn... can u play something equally as magnificent ??? Zoltan Mogan looking for a facebook friend.
A tuba is larger, and is pitched at least a fourth lower, with some pitched an entire octave lower than the euphonium. Most tubas are oriented the opposite way, like the mirror image of the euphonium.
Thank you Chief Edward's for your service to our country
His junior high band director is still waiting for him to bring that euphonium back
John Smith plot twist: your the junior high band director
😔
@@gamerbeastboy1842 😭i was thinking that too
plot twist i know his junior high band director
that's a good one!
I’ve been playing Euphonium since 6th grade. I’m going to keep going. I knew it was special even tho it wasn’t a popular instrument.

This man looks so happy to play his euphonium
And I love this instrument, it's sound so warm
warm, apt descriptor.

Marvelous to play heavy metal. Thank you Bryce for your service. :-)
Great spiel, Chief your love for the Euphonium really shows through!
Keep up the “beautiful sound!”

Really nice sound. Everyone in the Navy Band is a superior musician. Thank you for this! Stay healthy.

I’ve been playing for 3 years now, I started on the Trombone and my band teacher asked me to switch, now I’ve never looked back.
I also started on trombone and im swapping to euphonium now :)
@@paladino5993 dude, im switching to euphonium from trombone
I started on euphonium and I still play it but I also play tuba, trombone and trumpet.
Chief Edwards is very talented! I love listening to him playing the euphonium!
Thanks man you really sold me on what I’ll be playing for band! I really appreciate your video

Wow your amazing!. Great commitment and great playing😆
Thank you for this! I’d never heard of euphonium before!
You make me happy Edward
Sir thank you for motivating me to take pride in being a euphonium player😊
I never heard of this instrument 🎷 but it's pretty cool..
A euphonium player can probably play the baritone as well, which is kind of cool!
Your tone is delectable
Been playing for three years and plan to keep going in high school
I was euphoniumiste in the army as well 10 years ago and I miss my euphonium so much
this is a crazy coincidence! we have the same name, and i also play euphonium in high school concert band!
1:39 Irish Tune from County Derry! 8)
Ive never played your euphonium to know if i love it as much as you do and become that neighbor who returns nothing he borrows.

Way underrated/exploited horn.....great warm tone!
What brand is your euphonium? Still looking for a euphonium.
My band directors son handed me one and now I play euphonium. 😃
He loves playing the euphonium!
Cool instrument. Akin to a French horn? Thanks for sharing, and for your service.
No, it's more similar to the baritone (same range) but is built like a tuba, only smaller.
I am a tuba player but I like the euphonium sometimes
I always thought the theme from Dynasty Bill Conti... was a French horn... can u play something equally as magnificent ??? Zoltan Mogan looking for a facebook friend.
Not sure if I would be able to have the breath for it. Looks difficult.
I get to play beautiful melodies: Danny Boy. Me: Tears.
How much is it
I PLAY THE TRUMPET BUT ILL TRY THE EUPHONIOM BECAUSE IT SOUNDS AMAZING CHEIF EDWARDS THX

The beginning of the melody shop march! One heck of an excerpt!
I swapped from trumpet to euphonium. And now I’m practically married to her.
how many scholarships this guy must've gotten..
The melody shoooooop
I dont call it the euphonium i call it the baby tuba
I can play an f 2 octaves below the staff
Irish tune 🍀🔥🔥🔥
The only euphonium that I think is cool is the brass euphoniums not the silver euphoniums
Close to tuba but smaller

I didn't realize Euphonium was as big as that, to me it looks like a tuba
@Hailey Cole yea I know, that's what I meant
Goodness me, that thing is absurd.
