I know the movie tries to portray the phone as magical or paranormal, but its definitely not. The voices he hears throughout the movie are actually his own thoughts but personified as the people he "knew". Everything they told him was easily perceivable by himself if he looked. He made those voices in his head to cope and give him hope. This becomes very apparent in the scenes with Robin, one of his close friends. His "spirit" serves as that last push to make him do what he has to do. Really loved this movie

The spirits speak through the phone to the boy because he has a gift of telepathy or clairvoyance, like his sister . Their mother had it too but she felt it was driving her mad . Their father wanted it go away so she could be normal… so he denied she had a gift and thought she was crazy. If it wasn’t for their psychic abilities , the boy would have died too. Great movie!
I'm still amazed at how good is the movie was. They managed to take something that's been done to death and give it a fresh look. Not to mention Ethan Hawke was brilliant in this. I'm more into foreign films because Hollywood has ruined everything, but I did like this one very much.
This movie was really impressive. The only problem I had was the end where the kid went back to school like nothing happened. Bro, you need therapy. the ending of this movie is literally the kid walking down his middle school halls and hes the cool kid at school bc he killed ethan hawke. Thats the payoff here. Who writes these corny ass movies 😭😭
The movie ended with him having confidence in himself and seeing himself as someone who has a life worth living. The picture it was painting was hope, and triumph. Easy to dislike a movie when you didn't understand it.
@@CrueLxMelodY yes and how was his newfound confidence framed and expressed at the end? Through him walking down his school halls and all the kids “respect” him more and think hes cool. Youre just rewriting what i said and dressing it up with word salad. And please dont do the “anyone who understood the DEEPNESS😭😭 of the movie like me wouldnt criticize it” thing, its a masked kidnapper movie, hardly casablanca.
@DavidHasselhoff-tm3hv No I'm not saying you have to like it, i just said it's easy to not like it when you clearly didn't see that. As a child the school looking at you positively is a confidence boost. He sits next to the girl he could even utter a word too at the end. Tells her to call him Finn. His relationship with his sister grows and his father changes. There's so much more to the end rather than "he was the cool kid in class" You're allowed to still not like it, but the message was not that he was the cool kid. It was that he was no longer the shell he was. If you want to look at it that way, go ahead.
@@CrueLxMelodY youre not understanding, my gripes with this movie are dialogue and acting related. All of the scenes with the middle school kids, specifically robin, made me roll my eyes. Completely cringe worthy middle school badass type aesthetic going on, and i was reminded constantly it was written by old farts in their 50s, so you cant dismiss my critiques based on the fact “i dont get it” because that is UNRELATED to the crux of my issue. If the movie hit home with you and you like it i aint saying youre wrong. I simply do not agree.
Disturbing movie, brave victim. I thought it was kind of a terrible production. But I like the premises, especially of a child standing up for themselves.
I really hope you’ll cover Godzilla NES it was one of my favorites as a teen. I don’t think it is as good as I remember but it did some stuff I did enjoy and thought was neat. All the work on sprites that went with it honestly is what I feel made the story good.
Honestly I was really happy that they didn't shy away from the grabber being an actual child predator in this movie. So many horror movie villains are downplayed in their evil to become more commercially viable (ie: Freddy Krueger) but how similar he is to real world monsters makes him even scarier.
The first time i saw die puppe with no idea it was from a series of pictures. All i could think was it being a woman whos body was modified in a unconventional way,So she wouldnt be able to move away. and also just looked like she couldn't, she seemed restricted by the see-through man anyways.
The interesting thing is, this movie is loosely based on actual events. My attic actually has the phone featured in this movie, but connected to large bells. It has never worked since I lived here. Why anybody would want a telephone in an attic is beyond me, much less with large bells.
My daughter used to work at a movie theater. She told me to never watch this movie because she knows how emotional I get just thinking about kids getting hurt.
Who ever casted Ethan hawke was taking a risk. And he nailed it. I personally think the scene where the kid walks up the stairs only to see him sitting right in front of the door was creepy af. It was scary because the door was open but he was still trapped by the killer
The black phone is (in my opinion) the best horror film ,no cheap jumpscares no unnecessary gore or people being dumb ,I wasnt expecting it to be this good but yeah I was pleasantly surprised.
God this is one of my favorite movies. The grabber is such a deeply unsettling antagonist, and all the visceral disgust and horror for his actions comes from the knowledge that nothing he does is supernatural. He’s a child molester and a murderer, and there’s a million like him in the real world. That’s what’s scary.
Very underrated movie and personally I’m a hard sell (not that it means shit) I just think the majority of horror movies that come out, you’re not missing much. All actors were incredible, the mask was cool and creepy, the kids were all great, fantastic story with depth that added much needed drama to genre where that often gets overlooked. A+ stuff

I don't think he knew it was magical. It was probably down there to torment his victims into thinking it may work and they could call for help.
This film is actually good! 👍
This movie is amazing, the acting was so realistic.
This movie was really impressive. The only problem I had was the end where the kid went back to school like nothing happened. Bro, you need therapy. I understand that a coping mechanism for some is to return back to their normal daily routine, but with something traumatic like this it is a good idea to get help.

My daughter and I just watched this movie last night and it was not at all what I was expecting. It was so good and it had “It” vibes where most of the characters involved were kids. Nice surprise! The main character (“Finny”) was an excellent actor! Hope he goes on to make many more films.
Gotta give credit to Ethan Hawke for portraying a great villain
This was actually a dope movie. Loved every minute of it.
Saw Longlegs last night, really enjoyed it. First movie my wife didn't go to the bathroom midway.
She is actually doing lines of coke
I liked it too. But what does that have to do with this movie
@@soaphope3398Let him have his moment of pride for his wife and stop complaining
If Ethan Hawke and Bagghul had a baby.
Such a good movie it was very enjoyable definitely need to watch it again.
This movie was great!! Hawke is terrifying in it. The young actor was phenomenal!
It’s in the hashtag but the name isn’t ordinary so I could see why people are still asking the movie’s name is The Black Phone
Thanks
"So you are the one who did in Bruce and Robin?"

Anyone notice that the mask of the bad guy looks eerily like Jeff Epstein when he smiles?

To me this is one great movies. The kids made this movie and Ethan was just outstanding 😊😊
“There ain’t no party like a diddy party”
Honestly thought it was cringey at first from the ads, but after watching the movie all the way through it turned out to be pretty good and the mask really grew on me
IS THAT A JEFFERY EPSTEIN MASK?
Enjoyed the movie, especially the girl who played his sister. She never gave up looking for her brother. Their bond❤
She was tougher than her brother in a way…

Some of the greatest acting of all time by both actors. Phenomenal performance.

This movie is honestly really underrated.
In space no one can hear you scream.
I get that Robin went down without a fight, but Bruce?? Batman was slipping... W Joker
the ending of this movie is literally the kid walking down his middle school halls and hes the cool kid at school bc he killed ethan hawke. Thats the payoff here. Who writes these corny ass movies 😭😭
Simps acting like eathan hawke in a green goblin mask is terrifying.
There's so much more to the end rather than "he was the cool kid in class"
You're allowed to still not like it, but the message was not that he was the cool kid.

They really should just let this movie stand alone. Don’t make a part 2 , please 😂
Wait are they making a sequel?
No. And if they did it wouldn’t be as great as the original. All Part 2s usually suck.

Yeah that wasn’t even the 2470864th creepiest scene in the movie
Mmmmmmm woth the door shut
Honestly I was really happy that they didn't shy away from the grabber being an actual child predator in this movie. So many horror movie villains are downplayed in their evil to become more commercially viable (ie: Freddy Krueger) but how similar he is to real world monsters makes him even scarier.
Not really
The first time i saw die puppe with no idea it was from a series of pictures. All i could think was it being a woman whos body was modified in a unconventional way,So she wouldnt be able to move away. and also just looked like she couldn't, she seemed restricted by the see-through man anyways.
The interesting thing is, this movie is loosely based on actual events. My attic actually has the phone featured in this movie, but connected to large bells. It has never worked since I lived here. Why anybody would want a telephone in an attic is beyond me, much less with large bells.
The killer sounds like Raiden from MGS2, going through mood swings 👌💀💀💀
I feel this movie was very good up until the ending, the ending was super cartoonishly and took all the suspense and fear out of the movie.
Thats one of the most freakiest masks ive ever seen.
So disturbing because it really happens. Wish we could protect our children more there are truly evil people out there
God this is one of my favorite movies.
A+ stuff
