I own a 2015 is350 f sport, and i love this car. Plenty of power for daily driving, and the handling definitely makes it fun to drive. With a decent exhaust, this car is perfect for me, not to mention the reliability. But yes, it definitely in 2020 should not be looking the same as my 2015. The facelift made the headlights larger and the rearlights now have three thinner LED 'swipes' whereas the previous version has two thicker swipes. Just looked better
Very important to note that the AWD comes with the old 6 speed auto, but if you get the RWD version it comes with the more contemporary 8 speed. The more responsive 8 speed as well as improved dynamics from the RWD powertrain makes this a lot more fun of a car vs the AWD.
agreed. The camry has pretty much made lexus obsolete. For 30k (or less if you haggle) you can have a v6 that is about the same weight but has more space than the IS. The only real step up would be the ES350 (no point of avalon really).

Some things they fail to mention, reliability over the 'competition' (BMW, Audi, Mercedes..) which last up to 3 years and are completely wasted with issues. This car, redesigned back in 2014, is still better looking than it's competition in 2022. They keep saying this cars handling isn't good when multiple car enthusiast channels back in 2014-2016 claimed this handled better than a 3 series and an A4. I've owned this car for 5 years now and it's only been oil changes, transmission fluid flush, and brakes and heavily modified on top of that. Don't fix what's broken. If you really want a better infotainment system, there are aftermarket options for Apple Carplay. Just goes to show people who review cars and know nothing about them. Please find me any 3/4 series, C300, or A4 from years 2014-2018 and show me the interior quality (how it's held up-- which I can answer, probably extremely poorly) and the service history of the car. Great car for the person that doesn’t care/want electronic fluff- it looks good in & out, awd, v-6 na, & is not gonna beat you up when the warranty is over!
Went to a dealer with my wife to look at and possibly lease one. Every car that we looked at that was used had chips in the paint in the same places. Front bumpers were destroyed, either broken or had so many stone chips in the paint because they are very low to the ground upfront. The front side lower door panels were all chipped and so were the sides by the rear lower bumper behind the tires. Who wants to drive and constantly worry about maybe having to repair their car from stone chips all the time? Hard plastics on the interior too and if it had padding, it was really thin. But, the grille and front look exactly like the monster in the movie Predator.
I like lexus, but damn do I agree that these need a serious update. I love how they feel and I like not worrying about the car im driving kicking the bucket, but performance and tech is outdated.

Car listed: Q50 red sport & 3.0t, Mercedes e350, Lexus RX350, BMW 645, WRX, etc etc and I choose the IS350 over them any day, my only problem with this car is the lack of power. It’s such a shame for all other cars in its class to have more power for the same price.
The lack of power is so, so far from the "only problem" with this car. Pitiful fuel economy, lazy transmission, ancient infotainment and tech setup, tight trunk and rear seat room, gigantic trans-axle tunnel...the list goes on. I guess it looks sort of cool, is fairly comfortable upfront and probably has decent reliability?

I just wanna get in and my Bluetooth connects and blast the radio.
Just FYI, the non-AWD IS’s come with an 8 speed automatic. I’ve never gotten a full answer on why the AWD models get the inferior 6 speed, but it might have to do with packaging.

This car is great and everyone knows it lol. $57,200 "it's not that bad with the options" you'd be out of your mind to pay that much for a 6 year old design with no significant updates other than looks
Lexus is like the brand you buy because you're tired of the maintenance of everything else and you just want one car for the next 10-15 years. Either that or you like the looks.
Confused a bit over the "why it's missing this and that and tech is old". The car is actually 2016 facelifted car which was first launched in 2013. The fact that it's produced in 2020 or Q4 2019 does not make it new. That's why it's missing Apple Carplay etc. The same case applies to 2017 Volvo S60. The car's infontainment system was updated in 2014 and of course did not have Apple Carplay in 2018 either before new gen. As there's new IS coming pretty soon (MY2021) no one bothers to update old infontainment system - it's cost efficient. Anyway, good review :)))
I have loved the IS since its birth. Lexus has a weird way of building great cars with quirky out dated interiors. But always are made with supreme materials. The only competition I would consider now that Hyundai and Kia have become the top tier in reliability and build quality, the G70 and the Stinger could win out, just with technology and driver comfort.
Also guys the sriracha theme'd IS was done by West Coast Customs... The show had a reboot a few year ago and the owner (Ryan I believe) devote'd a whole episode to this build. They even flew out the founders/family of the sriracha company for the reveal.
In 10 years when Lexus has lost considerable market share to Genesis, they will be able to look at this generation of vehicles as where things went south.
No need to chose this car over any others mentioned. You can simply chose it because you like it, you like Lexus, you like reliability. None of the mentioned cars has anything to do with real sport. 99 %of the drivers will not be capable to utilize the listed vehicles capabilities anyway, despite the cars are not true sports cars. @@R1val909 theoretically, the same transmission could be used on both an AWD and RWD cars. In this case, I'm guessing it's a size or transmission placement issue.
Nathan Pronk yeah. One or the other. Most awd cars use different transmissions than their front wheel drive or rear counter parts right ? But if u have something like pdk or zf then it’s not an issue. Idk man no expert here haha
I have never cared for the exterior design of this generation IS. I've been ready for a new one. The engines have been average for a while. Lexus should be taking notes from Genesis. Infiniti better be taking notes too. The Japanese are lagging in this segment.
Nothing from the Japanese luxury brands really excites me, other than the lc500 and the convertible. Still expensive though.
Well said @jaguarRVP
JaguarRVP Looks good and is reliable but that's all there is to it. Lexus can't just flaunt their reliability as their main selling point. They've come this far by putting leather and wood on an ancient drive train. Toyota have done quite well with the Camry and Corolla, hopefully they refresh this in the same way.
tbh as a Lexus fan I agree with you, they are not paying attention to the competition at all, the only new and modern Lexus there is, is the ES, LS, LC and RX
Yeah man, the new kid (Genesis) seems to be more alert about competition ... I would love to see Lexus rising and together with Genesis bringing much needed heat to the Germans premium market monopoly ...
God this comment section is bad! I'll say that I still like this car
I actually like the way the rear end of my 2015 looks more than this one.
I agree with you. I own a 2014 IS300h F-Sport (same car, hybrid engine). It has the pre-facelift head and rear lights and they both look better than the current version. The facelift made the headlights larger and the rearlights now have three thinner LED 'swipes' whereas the previous version has two thicker swipes. Just looked better
2014 and 2015 taillights are much better than the newer ones. Coz the newers ones don't light up all the way thru when braking.
2:53 I think you meant that you’re not a ‘clock’ guy. Looking out for that Vincero bread
Very important to note that the AWD comes with the old 6 speed auto, but if you get the RWD version it comes with the more contemporary 8 speed. The more responsive 8 speed as well as improved dynamics from the RWD powertrain makes this a lot more fun of a car vs the AWD.

When are we getting that LC500 review, Andie the Lab got one and she’s your Patreon supporter?

U lost your mind. Car is not all about the engine n hp. The design is better than the camry! Lol
agreed. The camry has pretty much made lexus obsolete. For 30k (or less if you haggle) you can have a v6 that is about the same weight but has more space than the IS. The only real step up would be the ES350 (no point of avalon really).
For people who's interested, the song is Tell Me Something New (Wellmess Feat, TigerBlood Jewel Remix)
People still make the BMW owners don't signal joke cause it's still so true lol
I bought a 16 IS200t new and it’s sad to see that’s its now considered outdated by everyone 😢. But the refinement and quality inside and out...it’s still amazing 4 years later
Honestly, I like the dated interior
Yup, makes the car feel comfortable. All these new tech and attached tablet designs makes the car feel like its doing too much, losing that comfortable feel
Travis L I agree. What I like about this car is that it still has a lot of buttons, which classifies it as “dated”. I don’t know about you but I find buttons much easier to use when driving compared to a touch screen. It’s not even that I’m old, I’m only 20.
@@kevinnorris6558 the physical layout I have no problem with. It's the software that they could update. Android auto and Apple carplay are welcome additions when it comes to this platform. Other than swapping out the joystick for the touchpad that the RC has.
Can somebody please explain to me why I’ve never seen a car reviewer do this:
Go in the settings and turn down the sensitivity of that control knob.
Thanks for the tip!!
It's kind of interesting that you guys think the driving dynamics are lackluster, because all the other reviews I've seen of this have said the opposite.
It's cool that you guys aren't afraid to give some constructive criticism toward the cars you review.
Never afraid. Most cars are just good
Some things they fail to mention, reliability over the 'competition' (BMW, Audi, Mercedes..) which last up to 3 years and are completely wasted with issues. This car, redesigned back in 2014, is still better looking than it's competition in 2022. They keep saying this cars handling isn't good when multiple car enthusiast channels back in 2014-2016 claimed this handled better than a 3 series and an A4. Yeah, it's not a Miata or an FRS/BRZ but I'm not sure what they're making that comparison to.
I'll wait.
Great car for the person that doesn’t care/want electronic fluff- it looks good in & out, awd, v-6 na, & is not gonna beat you up when the warranty is over!
What I learned from this video: Yuri does not know how to read analogue time.
I can always tell how good the car is by how much enthusiasm is used in yelling “HORSE POWER & TORQUE!?!”
You guys reviewed the weakest version of the IS350. The RWD has an 8 speed auto vs the 6 speed on the AWD which definitely feels better & it oversteers alot more.
Joel Crespo I’ve always wondered why they neutered the AWD version with the 6 speed. Was it a packaging issue?
@@jordanbanko5347 The 3IS is very limited in space overall - that might be why they stayed with the old 6 speed on the AWD instead of the 8 speed. Fortunately there's no snow in Florida so I get to enjoy my RWD IS350.
Could it be that the IS350 comes standard with AWD and the inferior 6 speed auto for the Canadian market?
@@pavaokastelan8090 U.S market has a AWD variant with 6 speed auto.
The AWD comes with the 6 speed tran because of space issue. They just couldn't fit the 8 speed tran with the AWD system inside the car.

The NX infotainment is different. We reviewed it
@@TheStraightPipes Yes, I saw it. Nice video, BTW.
This car is by far the best car I’ve owned and driven.
Lexus designers know how to make classic designs in modern age. Well done. It looks old, but still good.
Try the LC 500. Beautiful car inside and out.
Because of you I bought a Kona ! And it's been a year and a half of fun ! And I kept watching your review since !!
Would love if they increased power and updated the infotainment while keeping the design pretty similar.
There is also a digital clock in the instrument cluster, to the left of the speedometer… not just the very classy analog clock.
I just bought my IS AWD a few months ago and I love it. Plenty of power and not to mention can’t beat the reliability. If you are someone who doesn’t care about all the gimmicky crap that car companies are putting on cars lately like lane keep, Apple car play and wtev else people are pushing its perfect. I just wanna get in and my Bluetooth connects and blast the radio.
I have a 2017 IS350 and it’s honestly a good drive. I didn’t buy it to race or go down windy roads.
Just FYI, the non-AWD IS’s come with an 8 speed automatic. I’ve never gotten a full answer on why the AWD models get the inferior 6 speed, but it might have to do with packaging.
Yes and that 8spd is so much better

It's not intake induction noise. It's called the Intake Sound Generator, and it's a similar idea to the older Soundaktor. It's essentially a sound tube.
Is the BMW blinker joke really a joke if it's true?
This car is great and everyone knows it lol. It’s scheduled for updates next year but even at that, the reason you buy this car is because it’s reliable as hell, decently powered, nice interior even though it’s dated, and it will soak up the highway miles like it’s nothing. And after 15 years and a few hundred thousand miles of reliable driving later you can still sell it for like 4-$5000.

The 3rd gen IS350 F-sport rwd was a slap in the face for the 335i M-sport (F30) of that time was starting to be considered lackluster progress compared to the previous gen 3 series. The 3rd gen IS was a wake up call to BMW who got lazy with the initial F30 3 series... the 3rd gen IS was genuinely good in 2014. The competiton woke up after the slap in the face, and improved way beyond, starting with the mid-cycle update of F30 to 340i, etc. In 2020, the 7th year of the 3rd gen IS, a new gen is sorely needed...
2021 will bring the all new IS. :)

It wouldn't be nice to risk the reliability for the features because those features are going to break but reliability is utmost
Great comment!
Fav Sedan is the G70 3.3T and if they were to ever have a manual version of the 3.3T I would be buying one.
4:46 jakub is basically me whenever i see most mansory builds....sorry not sorry
Couldn’t agree more. Owned this car for a few years now. Everything you said is spot on.

So if you like it and have money just buy it or any other for different reasons e.g for AWD for advantage in adifficult conditions.
