Yes, together with the recent announcement that Singapore passport holders can use E-gates for immigration clearance, I can imagine next time it is going to be easy to travel between JB and Singapore using RTS Link with bulk of travelers clearing immigrations using E-gates.
Causeway jam between singapore and JB has been around for over 60 years. It is unbelievable that whilst both countries prided themselves on development advancements over the years, there appears to be an unwillingness to solve Causeway jam. As a frequent commuter, I have observed even on busy days, not all the immigration booths are open. Whilst 20 booths are built, it does not help clear traffic if half of them are open. If this is not improved, no use to build additional bridges and or rail links, The long hours of delay in clearing both immigration outposts have resulted much inconvenience to daily commuters in the tens of thousands, let alone the huge economic loss in burnt fuels. I urge both countries to integrate technology to speed up screening and to open more booths which is much more economical than building another access links. Study how Europe and elsewhere such as HK/Shenzhen manage cross border traffic flow efficiently despite much larger number of cars and commuters, 8:08
Yes, I remembered a couple of years back there were some suggestion of 3rd link from Johor Pasir Gudang to Punggol. But so far no news updates on this 3rd link.
JB is lucky to have SG to keep its prosper, while KL has Putrajaya & the surrounding Klang Valley. Unfortunately Penang is left out poor in the north without having any modern city nearby it....
We can just hope that it will be built successfully and with lesser delay. Do you have the initial and current project schedule, and to match with the status ?
The latest news report dated 16 Jan 2023 stated JB-Singapore RTS Link project on track to start operations by end-2026. www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/jb-singapore-rts-link-project-track-start-operations-end-2026-3209646
Why must we blocks our own Straight ( Selat Tebrau). The Johor Straight (Selat Tebrau) should be free from all dammed and make it as a cannal to allowed ships to passing through it and to generate economy. Not so clever ideas build RTS project on the surface of the sea at the Johor straight that still bloking the straight . The RTS project Johor to Woodland should build by using underwater tunnel subway together with the Tambak Johor that still bloking the straight must demolished and exchange it with high bridge like the Penang Bridge.
Malaysia want it Cheap. If it is a project in Singapore, It definitely be undenneath the Johore straight as SG MRT are most underground including the Thomson East Coast Line.
Its going to be very convenient and more cheap to transport, very nice!!
Thank you Zzzopi! Yes, it is going to be very convenience to travel between JB and Singapore as the RTS is linked to the Thomson East Coast MRT Line.
@@SGYap very interesting :))
This will open up a tremendous amount of opportunities for JB especially and more economic influence of Singapore in Johor.

The sea viaduct of the RTS Link will be running at 25m above the Straits of Johor, ships can still pass through.
Be grateful there is even a RTS now ... had things been worse .. we continue with causeway for decades
Upgrade KTM... JB to Bukit Timah
The long term plan is ktm between Singapore and Johor Bahru will stop operating after the RTS Link is ready.
