Entrepreneur Mike Patey - whose exceptional drive and Back to Work™ ethic have inspired thousands of people - accomplished it in just over five months! Mike started with a Wilga 2000, replacing its Lycoming O-540 piston engine with a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-28 turboprop boasting about twice the power at half the weight. Many additional modifications followed before Mike proudly unveiled his “ultimate bush plane”. It could go to the same places as a Carbon Cub, but also climb twice as fast; reach altitudes up to 28,000 feet; and cruise cross-country at 180 MPH while carrying four people plus gear. Changes from the Wilga were so extensive that the FAA approved Mike’s redesign as an experimental exhibition aircraft. So Awesome! Dave, AKA The Rc Airmarshall has a fundraiser for one of Our RC Bros in South America to send Him a Draco and NX10 if anyone is interested? Wow, now that is some good looking country an some sweet flying HHP.
We have not flown the E-flite DRACO without the slats installed. It will likely fly fine without them, but you will of course lose the benefits they offer. And the wing panels will not fit back into the box with the slats installed (nor will the rest of the airplane with the antennas, steps, landing gear, etc. installed...it is not really practical to disassemble and put DRACO back in the box after final assembly).
Hi Jason, my Draco dives down when I switch from ax3x to safe mode. I followed the manual binding procedure and every time I switch to safe it dives down. I tried re binding when plane is level and it still do the same. Can you advise how can I correct this? Can you make a set up video and binding tutorial. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thanks.
Hello Jermie! It sounds like you need to mechanically adjust the elevator so it's closer to level/neutral when SAFE is turned OFF. First, center the elevator trim on your transmitter. Next, turn on the airplane and switch to AS3X mode (SAFE mode must be OFF!) on the transmitter. Then, adjust the pushrod/linkage for the elevator (by turning the ball link in or out) so the elevator is level with the horizontal stabilizer. After making that change you may need to adjust the elevator trim slightly during the next flight. Only adjust the trim in AS3X mode...do not/never adjust the trims in SAFE mode! After you have the trims properly set in AS3X mode, as long as the trim adjustments were not significant, there should be little to no change when you switch between AS3X and SAFE mode. That said, in SAFE mode, DRACO will climb at full throttle, maintain altitude at around half throttle and descend slightly at low throttle. This behavior will be slightly different in AS3X mode. But as long as you trim the elevator around half throttle in AS3X mode, it should be very similar in both modes.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts I already did this and tried multiple methods. But the difference between as3x and safe mode is really big on mine. So I just set the elevator level when as3x is on. I’m a experienced rc pilot and don’t really need the safe mode. I just want to hopefully set it right since the receiver has that feature. I will probably just rebind it with the safe off.
Pretty much love all the STOL models but this one leads the pack. I'd like overtime to see you guys come out with a scaled down model or two (kinda like what you've done with the Aeroscout). Understand that they'd have to be less detailed and feature rich but I bet they'd still be awesome and sell very well.
Mine is on order here in Canada, but the 6S30C 5000mah smart batteries you recommend are not available in Canada from our hobby suppliers. Kind of a disappointment.
Unfortunately, due to Canadian shipping regulations/restrictions, we cannot ship batteries that exceed 100Wh (e.g. a 6S 5000mAh battery = 5.0Ah x 22.2V = 111Wh) to Canada. 6S 4000mAh (4.0Ah x 22.2V = 88Wh) and all other Smart batteries under 100Wh are able to ship to Canada. Also, nearly all of the Smart telemetry works with non-Smart batteries as well. This includes motor RPM, current draw, ESC temp, etc...as well as overall pack voltage. And you can can still set the low voltage alerts based on overall pack voltage. Using a Smart battery does get you some additional info including individual cell voltages, temperature of the flight battery and cycles on the battery as well, which is great to have of course, but when it comes to battery telemetry data, the overall pack voltage you get with non-Smart and Smart batteries is what matters the most to most people.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thank you for your reply. Disappointed at our Canadian regulations. That said, what kind of performance/flight times can be expected with 4000mah battery?

Wish I didn’t cancel my order with LHS.
You should pre-order/backorder again with your LHS as soon as possible! The first shipments are sold out, but the sooner you get back on the list, the sooner you'll get one when future shipments arrive :)
