very explanatory, you saved me a lot of time in going over the specs myself and just as I was about to settle for the T3i you had to mention the 60d and now I have to watch the other video :-)
Thank You very much! Today I've bought 550D because this choise seemed to me much adequate! I will never gonna spend 100 bucks for such a small and insignificant bonus!
I did not read through all comments so Im not sure if someone else pointed this out but the LCD is not the only significant difference. The T3i has integrated wireless transmitter with multi flash control. This is a significant feature and probably more significant than the LCD screen.
I bought the Canon 600D after many weeks of debating between Nikon/Canon D3100/D5100/550D/600D. I can't speak for Nikon, but I know that if I got the 550D, I would be disappointed with the lack of the tilt screen. I shoot mostly video but also allot of pictures too (70/30%). If your into shooting video, get the 600D, it's well worth it. Not only that but the layout is slightly different and easier to work round. The mode dial is much nicer and just an all round nicer feel! Good luck choosing!
I think you've missed the 600D video capabilities compared to the 550D yea? It has a 3x to 10x digital zoom without affecting the quality of the video. If I'm not wrong, there are other differences too. However, I would like to know does the 550D and the 600D has the same auto focus speed in viewfinder?
There is an offer for the t2i which comes with twin lenses the other being a 75-300mm telescope zoom offered at £500 or the t3i with the normal lens only for £505-530 ? Which one should I buy?
Hi, I´m from Buenos AIres, Argentina. I have a T2i and I used to film a lot, I recognize a known bug on this camera: OVERHEATING.. That is a concern for me, after record near 20 minutes of video (in few steps), the display shows a signal saying: Almost burned. So, I need to turn-off the camera and wait a few.. not a deal ! Question: There is a way to solve this problem? Question 2: Does the T3i solve this problem? Thank you !!!
Ok. I just watched that if you buy a 600d in Europe it want film in so many frames like if you buy it in USA. Does that also has something to do with NTSC/PAL?
I'm looking for my first personnal cam and was considering both, but will the very-angle lcd be a big plus if i'm going to do a lot of video with it? I'm actually using my university club Canon 5D for filming events and party at the university and I was planning of doing the same thing with mine so we can have more HD cam on the spot.
The video crop mode is different. The T2i is supposed to have 7x crop @ 640x480 while the T3i crops from 3x to 10x of the middle of the sensor while maintaining 1080p resolution.
You also forgot about the HD crop for video on the 600D. The 550D is only a SD crop. However, this can be overcome to an extent with a good video editing software.
there is another difference you didn't cover. the ability to zoom 3X while in movie mode but you get some video artifacts when you do zoom in movie mode and then ther is the built in audio controls but you can get those on the T2i with the majic lantern Hack actually majic lantern gives you a few more controls on the audio and video that the T3i doesn't give you. not even able to zoom in video mode on the 60D
I need some help , Am a begginer as well and i dnt knw which one to buy , Nikon D3100 , Canon 550D , Canon 600D or do you have others to suggest me ? Please :)
I'm still thinking whether I should take 550D or 600D depending on the price. I like 600D because of the swivly screen but a lot of people say the upgrade is very minimal. I like the fact that it has filters and wireless flash. I'm a beginner in the dslr range so still, any suggestions? I know its 550d over 600d for price range. but still, i really like the swivly screen and filters! I'm in dilemma. @_@~

It all depends on the region setting you've selected (NTSC/PAL).
Picked my 550d Saturday. I would go for 550d . its cheaper. If your all bout movie buy a camcorder. But the pictures are amazing. And I love it. If you want movie and pics, go for t3i. Im just a photographer so I stuck with my choice.
If the vary angle LCD is the difference maker, it would be helpful to focus on this feature. - why is it helpful, in general. - Is it important for taking types of shots or videos? (for example: if you are doing a lot of ____ this is a must") - are there disadvantages to a vary angle LCD? (like ... It could break or maybe it's cumbersome when it's not necessary.) Thanks.
Holy crap, never has a video convinced me so much! I will defiantly just upgrade to the t2i from my t1i now! The screen wouldnt help me Ever so I only want the 18MP and the mic input. I feel canon should have maybe not called it the t3i as it's a very weak upgrade from the t2i. Great video!
Dosen't the T2i record in 24 fps 25 or 30 fps 1080p when the T3i Only records in 24 and 25 fps 1080p? and the T2i also records in 60 fps 720p when the T3i only records in 50fps 720P
The Canon T3i also has manuel audio controls (huge if you want to plug in stereo XLR mics into the camera to record audio and video simultaneously - the T2i and 7D does not have this feature. Also, the Canon T3i has a 10x digital video zoom - another MAJOR feature that the T2i, 60D, and 7D do not have.
@pathu32 The prices that I saw at my local Best Buy that came with the 18-55mm lens were both pretty similar too. I think I'm definitely going for the t3i as well.
@filmmanvick16 hey, im a fairly new person to dslrs, so should i get the 550d or the 600d or a 60D or 7d ? :O because i dont wana be upgrading the body again and again next time :\ i wana get something that could be use from a wide range like from begginer to semi-pro or pro. i like to take photos of landscapes and sceneries
Where you read that lol i have a 600d and it has that with other features that outshine the T2.....For me the angles of photos and videos is worth paying extra for..
If you can take a 1080p movie and zoom it in 10 times and retain 1080p in Sony Vegas, you are a magican. If you use a 50 mm 1,8 to do movies in 1080p, you suddenly have a 150 - 500 mm 1,8 to do movies with, and I think thats a good ting.
Pretty sure there's art filters, massive digital zoom in video mode, and video montage mode on the 600D. Still, I'm happy with my 550D and have no regrets. For me, there is a MASSIVE advantage with 550D it is the most compatible camera with Magic Lantern firmware. This changes the 550D into a much more professional level camera for video, stills, timelapse etc.
This review just won a subscriber! Cool!... One question: I've found on amazon the T3i with 12mp and the T2i with 18mp... why is that? Im confuse 'cause i don't know what to choose regarding to MP and latest model... Thanks a lot!
A upgrade is always better than the old lol 600d all day, and i will show you some shots and video footage of the great angles when you hold it on the tripod..
I know it's off topic but how do you get such a great audio quality ... I would love to know why your audio has no HISSSSSSSS sound or any other disturbance.
You don't mention the wireless flash capabilities of the T3i, which the T3/T2i don't have. This utilizes the pop-up flash as a commander for your Canon flashes, allowing you to shoot IR wireless without purchasing a radio transceiver setup, or Canon's ST-E2 IR controller. This is a much better camera for anyone looking to use Canon wireless IR flash or video, as mentioned above by filmmanvick16.
@MandrakeCigars - Neat feature, but nothing that really rocks my boat. Cropping is so easily done in Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro that I would never use this feature. Thanks for pointing it out though! :-)
@jackdelamare Add Magic Lantern software expansion to either, and the audio system is identical (AND WAY BETTER THAN WHAT CANON ALLOWS ON THE STOCK SOFTWARE).
the 600d has built in flash sync and the 550d don't. You missed that point too. And others, like more filters... and more features, like "easy guide assistance" for beginners.
@mmbrown82 don't worry about it. Black Friday/Cyber Monday is usually just the starting point for good deals. You'll find similar deals in the coming weeks.
You're missing the following features that 600D has that 550D doesn't i.e wireless flash, digital zooming for video offering 3X upto 10X magnification, scene intelligent auto, creative filters, video snapshot, sound recording level control, 30% more battery life for still shots.
@moutouc I'd just like to point out that if you want your DSLR mostly for video, I would suggest to buy a canon rather a nikon, as canon is much better at videos. In contrast, if you want your DSLR mostly for photography, nikon is better at that, than canon.

Well my friends and sister keep telling me to go for the T3i because "it's only $100 more." The swivel screen is cool and all, and would be pretty awesome for video recording, but I think I'm gonna use the extra $100 to get a backpack or something. Thanks for the info!
Actually, they are not. The Canon T3i also has manuel audio controls (huge if you want to plug in stereo XLR mics into the camera to record audio and video simultaneously - the T2i and 7D do not have this feature. for video and photo shots using the flipout lcd is a beast..better audio quality also....
I did not read through all comments so Im not sure if someone else pointed this out but the LCD is not the only significant difference. The T3i has integrated wireless transmitter with multi flash control. This is a significant feature and probably more significant than the LCD screen.
Excellent comparison video. Thanks.

@ArtoftheImage thanks I'm looking forward to buy my first dslr. I will buy either t2i or 60d
i just wanna know wich one should i buy ?! 600D or 550D T^T ?
What about Audio Input? Is it adjustable now? That's a HUGE difference if you're doing interviews.
Thanks for the tips!
Also when you buy the 600d do you not get better lens' in the kit? That would be another plus.
@smay Exactly the same specs. Only difference is the angled screen and some video settings. Still shots are exact.
I've never used a camera before, besides my flip phone. Should I get the 7d?
There is an offer for the t2i which comes with twin lenses the other being a 75-300mm telescope zoom offered at £500 or the t3i with the normal lens only for £505-530 ? Which one should I buy?

Very informative. Thank You!
@jackdelamare what do you mean? what are the differences in audio? please reply soon.
Ok. I just watched that if you buy a 600d in Europe it want film in so many frames like if you buy it in USA. Does that also has something to do with NTSC/PAL?

what lens would you recommend for the t2i (The bang for your buck type lens)? im thinking of getting one.
What's the difference between the T3i and the 60D ????? better sensor? is it faster? or what???
is Canon T2i comparable to Nikon 5100. I am getting both of them at the same price, which one would you suggest would be a better purchase?
so you would suggest i go with T2i unless I want the flip screen in T3i?
@ArtoftheImage You mean the 550D right? Because he didn't name the 500D. Or would you prefer the 500D over the 550D as well?
Just picked up theT3i with 18-55 kit lens, 55-250 is lens, pixma pro 9000, and some photo software - $840.
so basically, the multi angle is good for filming? what price difference?
thanks for the video. is there any difference in video quality between the two?
How do you manually change F-Stop with the Canon T3i in movie mode?
Which one of the two cameras is best for video filming?
@sayedsab Sorry, but how you cannot zoom? It's matter of lens, not body. Do I miss anything? Thx.
there is another difference you didn't cover. the ability to zoom 3X while in movie mode but you get some video artifacts when you do zoom in movie mode and then ther is the built in audio controls but you can get those on the T2i with the majic lantern Hack actually majic lantern gives you a few more controls on the audio and video that the T3i doesn't give you. not even able to zoom in video mode on the 60D
You forgot the sound recording settings on the T3i, BIG difference
Is it true that the image quality for the T2i is better than the T3i?
what about the wireless flash
trigger built in to 600D
I need some help , Am a begginer as well and i dnt knw which one to buy , Nikon D3100 , Canon 550D , Canon 600D or do you have others to suggest me ? Please :)
also....i forgot to add, does the 550d come with a wind filter etc basically im askin if has the same settings as 600d ???
Thanks bro, it would be very helpful

@ArtoftheImage care to elaborate why you would pick a 500d? very curious as i am in this position, great channel btw.
@WickyGirl Why not the 600D ??
@jackdelamare Does the 600D sound better or is it just that it has that histogram thingy?
Thank man for the Info!
@moutouc definitely the t2i or the t3i depending on the price

I read that the 600D doesn't include image stabilisation and the 550d does. Is this correct?
i got the T2i last week , and im soooo happy , soon i will get the t3i just becuz its not so pricey as the
So, the screen is the differene, otherwise its basically similar?

is there an external mic slot on the T3i ?

you missed the manual audio control on t3i ...
and wat if the t3i is availavle with20% discount (less than t2i) price?
So, what do you choose... 600D or 550D?
This review just won a subscriber! Cool!... One question: I've found on amazon the T3i with 12mp and the T2i with 18mp... why is that? Im confuse 'cause i don't know what to choose regarding to MP and latest model... Thanks a lot!
u have a 550d right lol in my videos with my 600d i get different angles and for pics, and the audio is better.

r u using zoom H4 recorder?
I know it's off topic but how do you get such a great audio quality ... I would love to know why your audio has no HISSSSSSSS sound or any other disturbance.
im still not sure which one to buy.....600d or 550d : S help!!!!
@mmbrown82 actually $810 if you include the $40 adorama gift cert. it was from adorama... check dealnews for full details.
@filmmanvick16 i remember 550D has video cropping (digital video zoom in this case) in 480p mode
So lets see the cameras
550d has a 7x crop mode (640x480) while 600d has a 3x crop mode (1920x1080).
thanks for the info mate... :)

@filmmanvick16 about the audio controls- really? that's good to know! thank you!
What mic does he use ???? pleassssse
@mariuszpl88 also check canon refurbished and especially the canon loyalty program.
thx dude! Big help!
@MandrakeCigars - Neat feature, but nothing that really rocks my boat. Cropping is so easily done in Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro that I would never use this feature. Thanks for pointing it out though! :-)

appreciate this video thanks man
@skrupnik That'll be to do with your memory card and not the camera
the 600d has built in flash sync and the 550d don't. You missed that point too. And others, like more filters... and more features, like "easy guide assistance" for beginners.
I think I'm just going to get the T2i if there is just one difference. I'll not only save money but I'll also be able to carry it better.

@filmmanvick16 filmmanvick you have a point with the audio controls but digital zoom doesnt matter it literally just makes for worse video.
@SickoZone on amazon they are going for 700 new
@moutouc
I'd just like to point out that if you want your DSLR mostly for video, I would suggest to buy a canon rather a nikon, as canon is much better at videos. In contrast, if you want your DSLR mostly for photography, nikon is better at that, than canon.
Here's the FPS listing on the region settings:
In NTSC settings, you can record;
1920x1080 @ 30fps (1080p)
1920x1080 @ 24fps (1080p)
1280x720 @ 60fps (720p - Highest frame rate you can have on HD quality)
640x480 @ 30fps (480p)
And the PAL settings:
1920x1080p @ 25fps (1080p)
1920x1080p @ 24fps (1080p)
1280x720 @ 50fps (720p - Highest frame rate you can have on HD quality)
640x480 @ 25fps (480p)
They differ a little bit, but you can choose your settings in the camera, so no worries. :)
Well my friends and sister keep telling me to go for the T3i because "it's only $100 more." The swivel screen is cool and all, and would be pretty awesome for video recording, but I think I'm gonna use the extra $100 to get a backpack or something. Thanks for the info!

@ShotsOfEspresso this is youtube?
Very very helpful
