  • Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) Is streaming WYCLIFFE KIYINGI’s stage play MUDUUMA KWE KWAFFE.
Directed by Kaya Kagimu Mukasa, Muduuma Kwe Kwaffe literally meaning Muduuma is our home, is a Luganda stage play written by Wycliffe Kiyingi
(RIP), the “Grandfather” of Ugandan playwrights and what others later nicknamed the “Benard Shaw” of Uganda given his careful use of his pen and prolific writing.
The play is set in an era of 33 years. It addresses a number of issues like the return of the World War veterans in 1945, the boycott of Augustino Kamya of 1959 and the economic war of 1972 after the expulsion of the Asians. The play interrogates issues that affect the common/lay person; situations that every human being goes through in life like the financial ups and downs, commercial malpractice, relationships, business, survival, war and it’s effects and Ugandan’s resilience. It is a very relevant play that speaks to today’s situation.
The Stage Play to be streamed tonight at 7:30pm features celebrated actors like Patrick Mujuuka, Musoke, Sophie Matovu, Alice, Lwanga, Joanita Bewulira, Edwin Mukalazi, Walugenbe Joseph (RIP), Sam Okello, Jack Sseruwo, Agnes Nakakawa, Isaac Muwawu, Isaac Kudzu among others.
    Showing today: 16th October 2020
    Time: 07:30pm
