I am photographing this product packaging (Quintesson Pit of Judgment) that is partially sloped. The straight plastic window looks great, but the sloped part is just one big glare and i can't figure out how to get it looking nice. Any advice?
Indirect light will be your best friend for things that are curved and reflective. Try bounding a light off of a large white object, a wall, large foam core, California Sunbounce, exc..
Very nice tutorial clip, thanks a lot for that. You said something in this clip, that this method doesn’t work for watches. I happen to photograph watches and I was wondering, would you be able to do a tutorial in photographing watches, especially the faces and the dials. Or maybe if you have one done already could you point me to it ;) thanks.
Good idea! It's been quite a long time since I've photographed watches. It can be tricky, but the results can be amazing when you get it right. From my experience, lighting the face and dials is more about getting reflections and less about trying to light the face/dials directly.
I love the tutorial, it's super useful! I'm still a newbie, and I would like to know how you layer mask the lettering? Is there a video you've done that shows that technique?
I don’t have a vid explaining it. It’s layermasking, and then painting in the lettering. Kind of hard to explain. It took me a long time for it to reinstate with me and make sense.
That sounds like a tough product to photograph. Try getting some black cards, or some black fabric between the product and the reflection. A lot of the time it's trying to find a balance between light and reflections on the product. I photograph a lot of high gloss guitars, and it's always a challenge. Black is your friend!
Thank you for using the music - great tutorial btw!
Thank you!! 👍
This was so helpful, thanks!
Happy to help!
The guy with the golden hair. Good man!

Exactly what I was looking for. Most tuts don't cover mixed surfaces. Thank you!
I’ve dealt with a lot of mixed surfaces. It can be tricky. Glad you found this helpful! 👍
Thank you for this! Saved my bacon
You got it! Happy to help 👍

I'm selling a wallet sized photo type product that is laminated. How do I eliminate glare from the laminate and get high quality photos?
