Sadly that doesn't seem possible as from my testing it seems like bowser will always get hit by attacks even if their from the same team as him and also the enemies such as the dry bones can't be assigned to a team and for some reason when i was trying it out whenever bowser died if i then died after even if i had extra lives i would still lose.
