2024 wasn't the year of reading for me, lots of things were going on... BUT 2025 I want to be always reading something, and you keep me motivated! I already read one book! ❤
"I kinda look like I'm about to try to sing my way out of the Hunger Games." I am deceased. 💀 You look gorgeous, also you are so funny and wellspoken, my favourite person on RUclips (together with Carolyn).
hi emmie! Swedish person here :) Sweden is indeed called Sverige but i’m pretty sure Norway is called Norge. Nynorsk and bokmål are indeed an important factor but it refers to the language :) (i just thought you’d like to know, but i basically only know what 4 countries call themselves in their native tongue and it was cool hearing someone know these things. All loveeee) Edit: i accidentally wrote a sentence in Swedish i’m so confused hshs
you didnt give me a disclaimer so now im inclined to believe you are telling me these books are factually the worst books of 2024 and im not sure how to handle that
the worst book i read last year was a little life. i finished it in april and STILL whenever i think about it i get angry and filled with so much hatred ugh it was just awful 😭
Yeah, I watched all the raving publicity it got from social media which made me put it in my TBR but after watching the clockwork reader's ( booktuber) review about this book, I changed my mind.
you're such an inspiration to me, which is probably a very silly thing to say on a worst books video, but even when you're just laughing and giggling you remind me that even very thoughtful and literary people such as yourself can have a good time and not everything is that deep which is a reminder i need! anyways love your channel and i hope you're well!
I completely agree about books coming with instructions or caveats! The book should be able to stand on its own. If the story is only good or only makes sense with all these rules, it probably isn't that good.
I genuinely don't have the worst book (I read 56 this year). I simply didn't finish the ones that had the potential to turn out the worst 😂 Also I perfected the technique of choosing a good book 😊
beautiful video as usual. maybe you can make a video about your 'guilty pleasure' books you know silly books that are actually fun and made you feel good but aren't deep or anything. sometimes i need these they help me go through a lot of hard times honestly
I love your worst books of the year videos, and you know it's going to be good when half the video is about just two books lmao Happy New Year, I hope you'll have a wonderful 2025! ❤
Happy new year Emma! May 2025 be kind to you and bring you joy ✨Your videos are such a comfort to many people including myself, thanks for sharing your fun thoughts with us!
So much fun. One of the best things for me was finding your channel in 2024 so thank you. I’m so glad you are in a better place to how you said you used to feel at the end of this video. Wishing you a 5 star 2025 Emma ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Happy 2025 dear Emma! I'm so glad with your first video of this new year! Here in Brazil, we are celebrating the historic Fernanda Torres's winning at the 82nd Golden Globes! 😊
I just read the cherry on top of ridiculous smilies where the protagonist says that their (the protagonist and his wife's) love is as dirty as a gas station bathroom lol. You have to admit it's hard to beat that one. On a serious note, I can feel how truly heartfelt your lovely words were at the end and they're very much appreciated. Your presence is really appreciated.
I spent the whole year waiting just to watch you talk about books you despise while being slightly drunk (lol). I don't know about you but I think that's love ahaha. But seriously, I love these videos. I'll just sit somewhere and wait for the next one, one year from now. What will I be doing meanwhile, you might ask? Watching the other ones repeatedly
You have no idea how comforting you and your videos are. Also you are you are so incredibly funny. I am excited for this years videos and books starting with the magic mountain. 🥰🥳
Recently, I have started to watch your videos to improve my English listening skill as well as to find a good book to read. One day, I was really fascinated after watching your video about Rilke. I read Letters to a Young Poet and thought it seems a mandatory reading for students who study in arts. Even though this video's content is indifferent from my comment. I am writing this because I am wanting to express my appreciation for your introduction about Rilke. Thanks so much!
I have seen all of your end of year videos even though I only found your channel back in May, so needless to say that I was waiting for this with bated breath😊! Happy new year🎉
Ahh I love these videos! Thank you for keeping me going. Also worst book - has to be fourth wing. Why. Just why is that so hyped, I'll never understand.
Happy new year Emma. i've read 82 books in 2024 and my worst read was Lady Chatterley's lover (the first versions, because there's 3 and this one is the less spicy) there is no chemistry between the characters and the heroine seems to be on autopilot during the whole book- hated it
True Alchemist hater here too!! Your ranting is so creative and gave me joy 😆 Worst book - or most underwhelming book of the year for me would definitely be Murder on the Orient Express. Tell me why they dragged on the murder reveal for so long only to come up with the worst possible ending??? My used copy is currently in a pile waiting to get returned to the thrift store because I was thoroughly disappointed, especially since it's regarded as a 'classic'. I never want to see it again LOL. Second would be Queen of Nothing... Overhyped and underwhelming, especially since I had given The Wicked King 5 stars. Characters had an entire character transplant and everything was rushed!!! Let's hope this year the books we read don't give us a headache 😆
I watched the wonderful documentary about someone famous who fell off a horse and really had the courage of the superhero he played.Emma you are my superhero!❤
Once upon a broken heart series is sooooooo bad but somehow still somewhat attractive. What's surprising is that it just gets worse and worse. It's like one of those bad soap opera that you still watch because it's so bad.
I know we're talking about bad books here, but I just can't stop looking at the Cixin Liu remembrance of Earth's past trilogy sitting on your bookshelf looking so fine ❤. I love that series so hard.
i enjoyed this tremendously, thank you. :) Perfect ending, lol. Speaking of Antarctica-set books (but, like not awful ones) - Charlotte McConaghy has a new book coming out in March set there (Wild Dark Shore) - it's my most anticipated read of the year!! So, maybe give that one a try to get over Antarctica Station.
omg omg I didn't have a bad reading year by any means - found many five stars. HOWEVER, I read 'The Pact' by Sharon Bolton, and oh my god. It was terrible, it was so badly written it was comedic. The quote, "She was beautiful, even though she was in her mid-forties" haunts me.
my worst read was little fires everywhere!! it felt like i had someone hovering at my back telling me what to think lol the whole book just felt like the author didn't want you to think badly about the 'good' characters so the 'actual bad' characters seemed like they didn't have any nuance or redeeming qualities
God, this video was exactly what I needed tonight. That infection quote made me cry with laughter😂 My worst book of 2024 was definitely The Old Curiosity Shop
Swendway is diabolical... The two ways of saying Norway-- or writing because the languages you mentioned are written languages-- is Norge(bokmål) and Noreg(Nynorsk), the way one says it depends on their dialect.
Hi Emma, Swiss girl here ☺ The book that disappointed me the most in 2024 was Murakami's "The City and its uncertain Wall", it was just soo repetitive and nothing happened, none of the people caught my interest - I really wanted to like it because its premise sounded so good, but then it was such a bummer that I didn't even finish it 🥲 I know you're a huge Murakami fan - would love to hear your take on this book! Please make me change my mind!
You have to check out “Red Code” by Keezano! 📚✨ This book dives into the dynamics between men and women, offering insights on charisma and leading a joyful life. It’s been a total game-changer for me, and I just know you’ll love it too! A must-read for sure! 💃
i know you wouldn't have done it if you truly did not want to, but please do not feel pressured to drink for content, even if it's just once a year! im sure people who asked would understand if you decided to film a regular summary video! my worst are either the perfect nanny by leila slimani or the messenger boy murders by perihan mağden. the perfect nanny just was boring and plainly written and didn't even try to show the progression of the nanny character. she just became deranged suddenly. the messenger boy murders were really random and haphazard. i suspect that the translation might have dampened my experience with it. i wonder if you would like it actually, because it reminded me of untold night and day, and maybe the english translation would be more decent
There’s something spiritually healing about watching the nicest booktuber unleash their inner hater💀 My worst is either American psycho (except it was good?) or fool by Christopher Moore because of one scene that just….ooooo boy one scene that really rubbed me the wrong way
The Troop by Nick Cutter was the WORST F*CKING BOOK EVER! I wanted something spooky not absolutely revolting and disgusting descriptions of animal abuse/suffering of worms eating them from the inside out. It's not spooky. It's flat out disgusting. The one book I'd have no regret about burning 👀

Happy new year :) hell yes I am ready for some bad books 😆 looking over my list I don't seem to have read any really bad books in 2024 except for one or two middling ones for school so I seem to have been starved for trash
I managed to read 120 books this last year, and I had 14 flops (5 one stars and 9 two stars). My one stars were: -The Hollow Places by T. I don’t read those books thankfully. I only fell into the TikTok trap twice with Red Rising (meh) and A Little Life (still haven’t read it). But like 2025: let’s stop listing spoilers when describing books!
If something is marked as "slow burn" and has them kissing before the 3/4 it aint a slowburn!! But also, NewlyNova did a really hilarious summary of the first book in that series if you ever want a laugh.
2024 wasn't the year of reading for me, lots of things were going on... BUT 2025 I want to be always reading something, and you keep me motivated! I already read one book! ❤
Ahhhh amazing!!!!!! What book was it?
“He is a Swendish chef.” “Hinder buckaroody!!” 😂🤪 OMG, I just spat Gevalia coffee ☕️ all over my IKEA table
It's funny how water in the desert is good, but in the lungs it's bad
I just spat out my tea oh my god
lmfao
I cannot even express how much joy the Christmas murder book rant gave me
Saaaame!
"I kinda look like I'm about to try to sing my way out of the Hunger Games." I am deceased. 💀 You look gorgeous, also you are so funny and wellspoken, my favourite person on RUclips (together with Carolyn).
Emmie! I just got out of the hospital and I've been consoling myself watching all your tipsy book roasts. This is the greatest unexpected gift!

the worst book i read last year was a little life. i finished it in april and STILL whenever i think about it i get angry and filled with so much hatred ugh it was just awful 😭
sameee that book really pissed me off and i still get mad thinking about it almost 9 years later lol
omg mine too. it was such a waste of my time. i kept reading hoping something was going to happen to redeem it. i should’ve DNF’ed 😭
SAME!
ahhh I feel you, my worst was To Paradise by the same author 😅
Yeah, I watched all the raving publicity it got from social media which made me put it in my TBR but after watching the clockwork reader's ( booktuber) review about this book, I changed my mind.

How dare you think of stopping this tradition emma 😭. I'm already waiting for next year's vid 😂
And ofc the best books video
Love you ♥️

I will always adore you! You make my life brighter and full of good things. You deserve all of the great things 2025 has for you!
Happy new year Emma! You should definitely recommend more books about married couples, I reaaally love those as well. Sending love

So happy you did this video. You are the best! Thank you!! Great 2025.
From watching youtube and picking what I might like from suggestions, I read nothing but bangers. Thank you
you are my favourite comfort youtuber and we are not going anywhere

I will be single handedly skewing the metrics for this video, because I replayed the Patisserie Buckaroo part about nine thousand times. XD
Thank you for this highly entertaining video. 😄Your channel is balm to the soul for so many of us. Sending love and light. 🌟💖
Happy healthy new years Emma! I adore you and your videos so much i hope you'll have the year you want!!
I also picked up Alias Emma because that's my name and I've never regretted anything more. Also, your top is beautiful
Thanks, Emma, and happy new year!

I feel the exact same way
Thank you for making this, most entertaining! Happy New Year, and so glad you're doing better 🎉
Only Emma could remain this polite and cheerful while doing such savage takedowns. These books are permanently banned from my TBR.
The food similes have me rolling! LOL
I know we're talking about bad books here, but I just can't stop looking at the Cixin Liu remembrance of Earth's past trilogy sitting on your bookshelf looking so fine ❤. I love that series so hard.

my worst book was „This is how you loose the time war“. It showed me how much I dislike romance-centred stories without an actual plot.
ahahah loved the ending 😂 happy 2025 everyone! ❤
Your top/dress is so cute! 💕
48:43 had me in stitches😂😭
i know you wouldn't have done it if you truly did not want to, but please do not feel pressured to drink for content, even if it's just once a year! im sure people who asked would understand if you decided to film a regular summary video!

There’s something spiritually healing about watching the nicest booktuber unleash their inner hater💀

I agree that if it gives me the heebie geebies it worked but it was gross! It was an awful experinece as an audiobook@benevolentink3552
I remember reading that last year. Thought it was an okay body horror, but I could have done without the bit with the turtle. I can definitely see why you wouldn't like it. It's very disgusting and shocking.
I'm so with you on the alchemist, my friend loaned it to me and I still haven't talked to her about it because I don't want to hurt her feelings lmaoo. So thank you for the age of magic warning.
“I kind of look like I’m going to sing my way out of the Hunger Games” choked on my coffee

Aw, really? Its on my TBR list.

The best ending ever! I couldn’t stop laughing! Love ya girl!
You probably won't find this as funny as I do, but I also read Alias Emma this year, having only found out about it through your Goodreads feed. I actually quite liked it and ended up reading the entire series this year which is three books so far.
I think all your criticisms are very valid and I fully acknowledge the books are kinda trashy. But it was trash I had a lot of fun wading through. It was thanks to you I read it, so if you have nothing else positive to take from the experience, you at least have my gratitude.
That’s amazing😂 This is why I love reading!!!!
Dang The Selection was one of my very first one star reviews. It was aggressively bad and I read 3 of the books because I was dedicated to completing them 🤣 happy to see it here.
Love a good rant! The Age of Magic was one of my lowest rated too, just an absolute void of a book. My worst book was Quicksilver by Callie Hart, it was a book club pick and I lasted until the love interest arrived and he was so vile and repellant I DNFd. If it had been short I might have pushed through, but it was 600 plus pages. Life is too short. 😅
When you poured the wine, I immediately thought of the "two shots of vodka" Vine.
I laughed so hard at the "yeast and champagne" line 😂 😂 😂
36:54 i completely lost it at this😭😭😭
I had the same exact thoughts about Once Upon a Broken Heart but I'd say keep going 😂
I only read 7 books last year but this year! We are reading!
A couple of things: I just found Ms. Emmie's channel and she's clever and funny.
Also, I'm old (50) and I've been reading since middle school back in the 80's. Happy new year!!!!! Love that for you!!
Running to the kitchen for some hot tea to sip while watching this video
I managed to read 120 books this last year, and I had 14 flops (5 one stars and 9 two stars).
My one stars were:
-The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher
-Sundial by Catriona Ward (this made me VISCERLY angry)
-European Travels for the Monstrous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss
-The Push by Ashley Audrain
-Slade House by David Mitchell
I will NEVER get tired of seeing you be absolutely offended by how bad a book is 😭
you should do another readathon which will make everyone happy this coming year thanks for the video of 2024
Love these videos every year, Emma!!! My worst of the year was AnnieBot lol I hated it. 🤖

Yey new emmie video!
such valid hot takes and you are sooo funny !!
That one guy in the selection series being called Osten cracked me up soo bad while reading. Osten means "the cheese" in swedish😂
I love the outfit so much
not the sour patch kid loooool
If something is marked as "slow burn" and has them kissing before the 3/4 it aint a slowburn!! But also, NewlyNova did a really hilarious summary of the first book in that series if you ever want a laugh.
I read the first page of The Age of Magic for your book club and immediately ditched it (thankfully a library loan) 😅 Glad I didn't miss much
