There is no universe in which Zelensky sharing the victory plan with Trump wouldn't result in details going to Putin. So perhaps skipping that meeting is for the best.

Once they vote on the 5th November I think, if it's Harris, she'll show her old boss every courtesy - like the PM does to the King every week over here - but just as, while it is the PM who bows, walks backwards and is careful to use the correct obsequies - so it will be with Harris and Biden in about 6 weeks time. While Harris will continue to address her soon to be former boss "Mr President" right up to the swearing in ceremony in January, you can be completely certain Biden won't be doing anything that isn't agreed on by Harris. The same would apply if it's Trump - Rather than having to run things by Harris, he'll likely run them by Trump, such as there will be any business of note in the weeks before Xmas and New Year - which I doubt there'll be much and any that there is will be minor and uncontroversial....

@@mrkiplingreallywasanexceed8311 I think we're mostly in agreement. As a practical matter, it's unlikely Biden would change his position or do anything radically different the rest of his term. I would also agree that includes things that might be at odds with a President Harris administration. He's not going to do something that starts her off on the back foot and trying to undo one of his decisions.
Harris may (and I suspect does) disagree with some parts of Biden's more timid Ukraine policy but won't make it publicly known because she's still technically under him and won't be rocking the boat when she's about to be sworn in.
I don't think Biden will extend the same courtesy to trump and may even take steps that trump can't undo easily just like trump did to him.

Trump never was going to meet Zelensky. Trump detests Zelensky, and by extension, the Ukrainians, because Zelensky refused to give him dirt on Biden late in Trump's term. Trump is petty, vindictive and self-serving, with no qualms about morality or long-term national interest. As a Reagan Republican, there are still many like me, but I am dismayed at what has become of the party that most staunchly defended freedom and the international order. The party has been taken over by isolationists, populist hucksters and political snake oil salesmen.
