You missed a vital point, be able to switch between first/second team with just one button before a match including simmed games. That way you wouldn't have to keep manually changing everything.
If you change the career mode squad from team management, it lags and freezes . But if you change them just for the 1 game before it, it works just fine.

the age problem is a big thing for me. I've been playing as AS Roma and their star player Francesco Totti has been around forever. And as a result Fifa takes his skills from pretty high down to about 65 in just 1 season

Ahh, that's a good idea. I'd also prefer to change any injured or red carded players just before your game starts, instead of having to do it in the CM menu, because otherwise your player is kept out of the starting XI until you put them back in. Also it's a pain having to change your squad for one red carded player if you just want to sim a match.
Agreed with the referees. They also seem to be blowing when I am on the opponents half still. EG. I took a corner. It got headed away to edge of box, I had the ball, was about to shoot...they blew for full time. Also, when it is +4 added time, he seems to blow the whistle very quickly. Not even +2 minutes added.
I hate how in career mode so far, the ref gives the other team free kicks and advantages when I just bump into them but when they totally run over my player without touching the ball I get nothing... That's what pisses me off the most... And the goalkeeper moves for a freekick according to how you move your wall btw
If you have bought a coin boost on fifa 14 early release you will get a loading screen saying you have received a gift and you have to restart the game which is very annoying I hope when they release coin boosts that loading screen goes away.
They're always offside, I especially get annoyed when you're controlling say your CAM (4-2-3-1) and are waiting for your winger to make a run, but half the time they either stand by the opponent player marking them or run off into the distance offside. I also find that some try to get back onside and then when you pass the ball has gone too far past them v.v
Matt, I've had a couple of matches where the ref would give a red for everything, literally everything. Those matches ended as 6 vs. 5 for example. Am I the only one sometimes having to watch a referee that's on his period give me 6 reds in a row for nothing?
My PS3 froze for the first time in career mode. It was in the worst of times too, managing Spurs beat Liverpool 0-2 which would make me 4 pts behind man utd (on top of the league) Man Utd lost to crystal palace and Chelsea tied with Aston villa. With only 4 games left in the PL. FML.
its not that tall and strong players are over powered, because they arent. its that heading is over powered. im so happy that tall and strong players are actually relevant in this game. thats my play style, rickie lambert is my main man in my team and hes amazing! they apparently patched the game to fix heading but its still an issue

@mgh : The reason why the menu lags is because the graphics are designed to be processed by Ps4. The new graphic chip reads it faster than the PS3. If you play FIFA for too long on your ps3, you might over heat and ruin your system. Thy designed FIFA for the European bundle of Ps4. Nothing is different about it for ps3 except platform.
I hate in the career mode, that my players slowly out of contract never accept any contract renewal, though i fullfilled their demands (money, year) and granted them crucial 1st team role. dont get this thing.
I have an xbox, and for mgs it does freeze when playing FUT and when I'm paying online seasons it tells me my disk is unreadable in the middle off the game.
Freezing really pisses me off especially when you are playing Career Mode and you have played a lot of it. Since most people don't autosave or save after each game, you lose everything to that point in time which is really annoying.
I dont like that when you try to past the ball with the first touch but the player decides to control the ball instead then the chance has gone but he does the pass anyway and kicks it of the field.
I'm on Xbox and the first 2 days of the early release would freeze every 2 minutes, but then on the disc game mine hasn't freezes yet and I'm on my 3rd season of career mode
I noticed last year in career mode when I was Liverpool, andy carroll was on loan but returned from loan 3 years later, wonder if its the same this year because i'm QPR and I got a lot of stars out on loan and I don't wanna pay the recall fee next season in the EPL
the biggest and only real issue I've noticed is the bullshit calls for offside. Almost every time my striker is equal to the defenders and its still called offside. I've made some awesome runs through that have just been ruined by a shit call by the ref.
Am I the only one who gets a lot of unvalid offsides? It even shows in the replays. It especially happens when 1 striker is onside and 1 striker is offside but he isn't involved in the play. But also sometimes when I just give a throughball and he is clearly onside (like 1 or 2 metres).

I got the chance to play fifa on the PS4 and it feels a lot different from the current gen consoles, The graphics are a lot better all around, the menu's are fixed and I looks like it is going to be even more enjoyable then the current gen version.
I'm annoyed with the whole new transfer system. Whenever I put in simple instructions for a player (say striker) in Germany and my scouts find nothing. The most irritating part is that you don't know what there rating is. :L overall its pretty good. very laggy though.
For me, the cpu defender passed back to the keeper and he just totally missed the ball and it went into the back of the net, counting as an OG for the defender.

I have no problems with the menus. I'm running the game from disk too. For me the thing that I really dislike is the difficulty levels. I played FIFA 13 on Legendary and it was realistic, I won BPL one year then the next finished 3rd. In FIFA 14 World Class is near impossible yet Professional is too easy.
Career mode I got the penalty and the ref didn't show card as if the game is glitched I've gotten penalties many times ref goes in his pocket raises but there's no card almost like they didn't finish the game also the sound track on fifa 14 is soft u can barely hear it. Lastly when a player gets a card it's displayed at the bottom of the screen and it won't go away unless u turn off the console
One thing i dislike is that when u play a match it gets dark the kit the boots everything. There are a lot of flashy boots on fifa 14 but when u play a match it looks like the players are all wearing black

I'd agree with most of that MGH, but I have to say, I think inconsistent goalkeepers is actually more realistic. The last fifa every goalkeeper was overpowered now it's a lot more realistic I feel.
So you have your first team which is your best players and then a second team which is your subs/reserves. So for the less important games just put your second team out.
1) OP crossing/headers 2) OP aerial throughballs 3) they ruined defending- your players dont lock onto the ball anymore, making it very hard to tackle and make interceptions 4) auto switching- awful. always switches you to the wrong player, which makes defending even harder 5) pace is still too effective, but its inconsistent and retarded now 6) ultimate team is just dreadful, especially for silvers which is all i use. no handicap at all = golds are way too good/easy to use, especially shooting

You get more 50/50 penalties, which is good, penalties have always had to be blatent fouls, but now they more realistic iffy penalty decisions which is nice that it's at least keeping toward the real world in that sense

i dont think headers are op i mean schalke for example they play just like this farfan is running down the wing crosses it in the box and huntelaar scores. and i dont thing its frustrating because basicly EVERY goal that u concede is frustrating and it is pretty realistic when a strong tall player scores headers! the other things u said (especially finesses) i agree

MGH, I am ps3 user and my menu are extremely painfully slow, it takes literally 10 seconds each player to switch and it absolutely destroys me and the fun I want to have with fifa. Not only that but a lot of times maybe 1/3 times i try to switch a tab with the d pad it actually switches double so scouting player is almost Impossible. Do you have any info if EA are going have a patch or something?
does anyone else find it difficult to play in clear weather in the day, in big stadiums. There's loads of shadow and you can't see properly - emirates in the sun is the worst
Mat the menues are laggy because its build for the next gen consoles. I play it on PC and there are no laggs at all. Just wait for the next gen consoles and you will not have a problem with the menues.
i agree thta it does feel more like a simulation. i like it so far, i find the graphics are better/smoother. it isnt as pacey which is a nice change i have scored a lot more headers (especially headers with small players who i couldnt score headers with very often in fifa 14) all in all i like 14 better than 13.
I played against a guy with an awful premier league team, except for having Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge an Theo Walcott (with increased pace !!) and all he did was through balls and then if I tackled him, my players always took a pointless extra touch instead of clearing it (wth!) all the time) so after kick off I just ran to the wing with Sau (91 pace) and crossed it into Llorente (87 heading) crossed it in and he headed it in 3 times out of three - FUT 14 in a nutshell there.
I hate the way on career mode you sometimes have 2 games in 3 days then have an entire week without a game!!! Space the games out more evenly.

There should be an option for the Global Network Scout to look for backup players. There is a 'first team quality'-option so why not a backup-option?

I concede penaltys for running beside a player, but when the goalkeeper completely takes me out or a defender murders me, I get nothing...
I see that too. Was losing 2-1 to Southampton on World Class yet was beating Chelsea 2-0 on Professional. Doesn't make sense.

It really does, the majority of people notice it. The CPU do the same or even worse tackles on you and nothing is given.

The problem is they judge offside even before the player makes the run, when most times you want to dummy and another player gets the ball.

I agree fully, on FIFA 14 I was playing on Professional and thought it was way too easy. Turned it up to World Class and it was literally impossible.

Havent had issuues with refs however an issue ive been having is slow reacting players or the players just dont react after you switch player
My refs are opposite the never call fouls and If they broke my leg they'd get a yellow card only

The menus arent laggy when your in team management before the match though.. why is it laggy everywhere else :(

Fifa 14 works perfectly on my Xbox, no freezing or EA server issues, are you sure they're issues for Xbox users and not PS3 users?

the servers are pretty annoying getting disconnected all the time and also the menus being laggy. The headers i think have been slightly fixed.

they dont give you free kicks ever tho. ive had like 3 since i got the game on monday and i've finished my first season of career mode.

Then use autosave, for the sake of waiting a couple of second rather than risking losing loads.
All the career mode problems seem to be caused by the early release. Don't know why people don't wait for the retail copy.
try the pc version of the game, you will never disconnect from the ea servers and the menus aren't laggy

Goalkeepers are too inconsistent. Sometimes they are nearly impossible to beat and then sometimes they cant catch a ball going slowly
does anyone else find it difficult to play in clear weather in the day, in big stadiums. There's loads of shadow and you can't see properly - emirates in the sun is the worst

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I've had the game for 4 days and I've gotten 1 free kick.
Xbox always freezes now and disconnects. In fifa 12 menus weren't leggy they were smooth I remember when starting fifa 13 noticing they were lagging
The menus are because the game is made by Ea Sports, battlefield is made by dice, altough they are both part of EA they are separate companies
You know before you start a match where you can manage you team that menu is not laggey at all
sometimes when i get a second player to press the ball the ref will chase the ball down!!!
I'm pretty sure the menus will be fixed on the next gen console, I think its because the game is build for a Ps4 or a Xbox one and not ps3 or Xbox360
I think the refs don't gives free kicks as easy as last year.. Like when the players are dragging and pushing..
Mat the menues are laggy because its build for the next gen consoles. I play it on PC and there are no laggs at all. Just wait for the next gen consoles and you will not have a problem with the menues.
i agree thta it does feel more like a simulation. i like it so far, i find the graphics are better/smoother. it isnt as pacey which is a nice change i have scored a lot more headers (especially headers with small players who i couldnt score headers with very often in fifa 14) all in all i like 14 better than 13.
That's good, less pace whores and the gameplay is more realistic, I agree it's pretty slow but the only pace boost I would give is to the turning.
I played against a guy with an awful premier league team, except for having Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge an Theo Walcott (with increased pace !!) and all he did was through balls and then if I tackled him, my players always took a pointless extra touch instead of clearing it (wth!) all the time) so after kick off I just ran to the wing with Sau (91 pace) and crossed it into Llorente (87 heading) crossed it in and he headed it in 3 times out of three - FUT 14 in a nutshell there.
that lag what you are talking about is not that long on the xbox.
