- @lifeinspiresdesign has a wonderful video on Fountain pen shaming!
This is my take on the fountain pen shaming! Yes, I really have all those fountain pens, with more to come this year!
Thank you for watching!
I love your collection and the joy they bring you 💜. Thank you for sharing them with us, I am always exited to see your currently inks and the wonderful new pens I get to see up close :)
Thank you 💗
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective! I really appreciate hearing your voice on the matter. You have a gorgeous collection. I always enjoy whenever you feature your unique nibs, they’re sooo beautiful. 🤩
Thank you 💖
Those crazy nibs, I’m so happy I have them.
I wasn’t quite as polite as you were. It’s mostly the comments I’ve reading, not the poster who has been mostly nice.
Joyous collection…to heck with the gatekeepers and their anxieties and judgment! So happy they are uplifting for you. Stay well and thanks for sharing.
Thank you 💖
I’ve always beat the drum to my own beat (usually out of tune!).
I’ve been lucky, everyone has been so supportive, before and especially during and now after the treatment.
This is another level of pens I have not been into bright or multicoloured fountain pens but you’ve convinced me to reconsider it is intriguing when put side to side really cool
I love color, brighter the better. It’s not for everyone. I do try to coronate the colors, otherwise it can be a bit over the top for some (for photos).
Thank you 💗
Thank you for sharing your collection Jane!!!! They are beautiful pens and I have fun just watching to see your latest additions!!😊
It’s fun to see what others enjoy collecting. I know my tastes have evolved overtime, will continue, who knows what’s next in the pen world.
Thank you, Jane. I totally agree with you. People on these platforms need to quit trying to shame others. Do you!
It’s pretty sad that some feel they need to make others feel guilty.
I hope no one felt shame! It’s how they win.
Instead of getting mad, I bought another pen!
I absolutely LOVE your collection!! You have great taste (in my opinion). Your collection brings me joy too. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you 💖
I do try to coronate the colors, sometimes I fail. I do love what I’ve been collecting/using.
I love this Jane! The only reason I ever sell a pen is to usually fund something else, but if I didn’t HAVE to part with pens, I would probably keep them all. I love your collection and how much you LOVE your pens. They are to be enjoyed, explored and celebrated 😊
Jayne, nothing wrong with selling or giving away! I have 2 or 3 I’m going to giveaway.
It’s when people feel shamed or (you can imagine) that’s when it’s wrong. It’s all about the love of fountain pens.
I’m back to feeling more normal 😊
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 you are so right, I feel like our world could benefit with a little more kindness and less criticism and judgment 🥰
@@jppenandink you never know what a person is going through!
I love the fact that you have no shame and you definitely shouldn't! I love that you love your pens! I love my pens as well. They bring me joy. You have a lovely connection. I have a lot of mine inked and I use them. There is a lot of other really bad things that I could be doing in the world like others. I am a user and a collector. Big fan of your channel like so many of the folks in the comments who have channels. I feel like I have friends that I never have met and it brings me joy. The electic collection makes me smile. :-)
Thank you 💙
I’m with you, I’m a collector and a user! They all get used throughout the year.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 and it doesn't even matter if you use them, the pens are yours!! They can sit on a desk looking pretty or sit in a pen roll or original box or whatever... if that's what you want. For someone to complain about another persons collection is the epitome of privilege. They have nothing better to do and likely have some sort of internal jealousy going on. Social media is a double edge sword.
@@jen7662 I agree! My goal is to use everyone of my pens. May not be completed this year. If I feel overwhelmed by a number I have inked, then the following month or months it’ll be less. I love thinking of what’s next. I do follow the rainbow for my pens, it makes me happy. Back when I had 70+ pens inked each month easy to know what color was in each pen.
Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate your perspective.
Thank you for watching.
I agree with you Jane, it’s your hobby and you should enjoy it the way you want it … You have a lovely collection of pens inks and nibs . I enjoy watching your videos and would love to see the collection in real life :)
I’m an hour from Orlando. Might happen? Give me plenty of notice. I still not feeling well enough to clean the studio.
PS. I have pens all over the studio 😬 I have run out of ideas for storing my pens, for now.
The thing is, some people really struggle with impulsive compulsive buying and leads them to a very bad financial situation. All hobbies that has buying/collecting at its core can be very dangerous for this kind of people.
Good video, amazing collection!
I agree!
Why I’m going to try something different, instead of unboxing.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290I enjoy very much all your videos, I just think that people that feel shame or regret buying their collection is because they struggle with impulsivity, or something like that, but that doesn't mean that your content it's the cause of that!
Keep doing what you love!
@@elude3808 I understand, I agree it could be.
I predict a new round of videos from the "how to cull your collection" crowd, and they will probably say it was not their intent to shame anyone. And they probably didn't intend to do that. For some of us, the shame is internal and triggered when we start comparing ourselves to others. My solution for now is to only watch the videos from folks who are expressing joy while sharing pens, inks, or papers they discover. There are plenty of them out there. The little group of influencers that all shares the same topics and tags is just one part of the universe of fountain pen content creators. My suggestion is to find the ones whose posts make you feel good and who uplift you, not the ones who add to your angst. For me, this could be angst about not having a good justification for every pen in my collection, or it could be the opposite -- angst about conspicuous consumption and some people who seem to be flaunting their wealth. (I especially dislike it when they simultaneously whine about how they shouldn't have bought the $900 thing because it was so expensive... c'mon.) We all have the right to protect our peace. I'm gradually learning which content creators are best for me and I'm cutting way back on the amount of content I consume. I started collecting fountain pens before social media existed, and while I was probably less well-informed, I was also happier in my collecting.
It wasn’t the person(s) adding the video, it’s been the ugly comments.
If 5 pens make you happy, excellent! If it’s 3,000 - excellent.
I love watching videos where they have 5 pens inked. I admire them. I also admire people who have 100+ inked and everyone between! It’s enjoyable to see how everyone manages their pens and inks.
Why I try to give ideas on how and why I’m doing things. What works for me, may not work for you, Or it might!
Social media can be a down fall! I move on quickly when it’s YOU need to buy this pen (most of the time it’s influencers). We all need to figure out what we can and can’t buy (or stop watching some).
I love my pens and ink.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 I probably missed the ugly comments, but I actually don't enjoy those videos either, because they make me feel bad or anxious in some way that is hard to pinpoint. I'm sure the creators are lovely people and they only mean to share their experiences. Maybe the whole fountain pen community is taking some unpleasant turns as it gets larger and social media gets more active. That would be a shame, as it has always been a space where nastiness was at a minimum. And I do understand how conspicuous consumption can trigger some people. As for nasty commenters, I wish they were easier to ignore, because they deserve zero acknowledgement. It must be tough to work hard to put content out there and then be criticized so harshly by viewers.
Fantastic! You keep doing you. Your collection is to do with as you please!! Social media is a double edge sword, on one hand the trolls are plentiful but then you get to enjoy videos like this. I really enjoy my collection of fountain pens and would have more if my bank account allowed me too. Thank you for sharing your collection, its inspiring!
Thank you 💕
The trolls do not take any of my joy! I enjoy my pens and ink.
Thanks for doing this video. I hope you are doing well. I have 58 pens and I have figured out a way that works for me to rotate them and use them all. Some pens I don’t like as much as others, but then I try a different ink or different nib in hopes it will be better. I won’t be reducing my collection, and if I see a pen I want, I will add it.
You’re welcome!
I’m much better, thank you 💖
I have my favorites, why I decided to change out the pens and only allow “X” amount to go for one extra month. Still changing my mind on things.
There are a few I just don’t like (2) I’ll be giving them away,
My pens are staying with me, I’ll be adding more this year.
Your collection is so pretty 😍
Thank you 💜
First video of yours I’ve seen. Totally feel the same way. I’ve paid for my pens, why on earth would I not keep them! I would say I wish I had exercised more thought about the colors I chose initially! What is the multicolored pen in the first tray, fifth from the left? You have a wonderful collection.
Thank you 💖
I’m done if the pens I bought, wouldn’t have bought today.
I’m sure which one: first tray: blues by Carolina Pen Co.
Second tray: pinks and browns by Bone Crusher Pens.
Top tray: blues and green (hand painted) by F3.
If I didn’t get it right. Let me know.
I agree completely with you . Your pens are so gorgeous. I like a lot that with the different blue stripes: who made it ? Life is nothing without writing, pens, inks, papers !!!!! Following your advice i just ordered an urushi pen at Tamenuri Studio to pick up at the Dutch Penshow 2th June.
I believe Woodshed Pens.
You made me so happy today, I ordered another one also.
I do have one of his Urushi pens, it’s beautiful, I’ve had for 4 years+.
I love your collection and DO NOT REDUCE !! They are much too pretty !!!
Thank you 💖
I’m quite happy with my collection! They’re not going any place!
Your collection is amazing thank you for sharing,
Thank you for watching!
I love this theme I get to see all the beautiful pens 🥰
I agree! Love seeing what other people have.
Your pens are beautiful. Did you paint designs on your Ecos?
I can’t paint/draw. They’re from @Bungubox in Japan. It’s makie (I believe is the spelling), they’re beautiful.
No shame! They are gorgeous! I love my big old collection too. It's my only vice! 👑💘🎉⭐️❤️🔥💖
Most of my pens are always inked. I use my pens for drawing, so it gets used, but it flips some people out. lol
Drawing would be great, I can’t draw. I do write to penpals. Just playing with pens and ink.
No one should ever feel shamed for their hobbies!
Wonderful video! Very uplifting and honest.
Don’t sell ANY of your beauties- I get you, you have some real gems and they bring you joy.
What’s wrong with admitting that we are consumer and collector?
I enjoy having a great feeling pen in different colors because I know I will enjoy them every time I ink them up. 🙏
I’m not selling/giving away (except for 2) pens, I enjoy having about 25-30 inked each month.
Sometimes I’ve felt guilty for enjoying the hobby! I am a collector, I also use my pens.
When you have the perfect combo of ink, nib and a gorgeous pen who doesn’t want to put it down? I know I can’t!
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 I know! I have found perfect combos and of course the pens stay inked way longer ☺️
@@MrsAlchemistyes they do! I really thought I kept up with maintenance on currently inked. When I had to wash out all my pens. I found out I wasn’t with the older pens inked.
Maybe all the people who make the review videos are feeling guilty for promoting, or contributing to, over-consumerism. It has been 4 years since I bought my first fountain pen, I now have around 25 pens, and I use most of them regularly. I haven’t gone into debt to acquire any of them. I make my choices carefully, I do a lot of research first, because I do disagree with impulse buying, or buying things because you think material items are the answer to some other lack in your life….and I want what I have to be useful, not have pens just for the sake of having. I want each pen to have a certain quality that makes that pen special, instead of buying 30 pens with the same nib because the pens are pretty colors…but that’s just me. Sometimes I use them as rewards, such as if I have a particularly bad week at work. So I think you are right. If you can afford it, and it makes you happy, and the pens are useful to you, then do what you want!
I agree! A few (maybe a handful) I’ve bought because… I’ve since stopped. 95% of what I buy is researched. Nibs is a whole different story! I love crazy nibs! Whether they’re stacked or custom ground, they’re fun to write with.
I’m all about changing things. I have one more unboxing video to publish, most of the new pen videos will not be unboxing.
This is strange to me, that someone would shame you for owning fountian pens. Im Germany fountain pens are an everyday thing and kids start using them young. I really like TWSBI and Kaweco Sports and I have about three dozen or so and they are all inked. Plus about a dozen or so Lamy, Pelikan, whatever. Who do people think the are to tell you how many pens to have? Maybe they are just jealous?
The internet can bring out the worst in a few people. I’ll just play with my pens.
What a lovely collection! If people doesn't like other's collection, then they shouldn't watch or they should collect differently --
I’ve been lucky, very little hate. I agree more on, they want others to be as miserable as they are, not going to work with me!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you 💜
Ftw. I agree. When I think about it this pen shaming could be reverse psychology.
Irritate collectors so they buy more. I will buy more any way. I hop to run into you ar sf pen show.
I’ll be making a video on the bag I’ll have, how long my hair will be 🤣 (it’s 1/2” it’s growing).
Agree! It hasn’t been the video makers, some of the comments.
I’ll be at the show Friday and Saturday, head home I think he said it’s pretty early Sunday morning, it’s a long flight.
Ooops… I guess I‘m crazy then, because I keep all my pens inked at all times… 😂 Well, at least the ones I love and that is a large portion of my collection. I once had someone call that excessive… so what… 😊 To each their own. Let the haters hate, they‘re only jealous anyway.
I agree!
174 (soon it’s be +3) hard for me to ink all of them. July I’ll be up to 30, a nice amount for me.
Let the haters hate!
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 I‘m around that same number… and it is manageable… most of all if you have a lot of pens that seal very well like TWSBI, Esterbrook etc… I have loads of colorful markers as well and nobody would ask why I have 50 Tombows in different colors lying around. :D I choose 1 color for my planners and journals every week and pick 8-10 pens which are filled with inks that match. This week it‘s light turquoise, next week it‘s orange. That way I make sure that I rotate my pens in use. And of course there‘s the top pens that I keep in a 20 pen case and that I carry around with me throughout the house (I work from home). But I admit that I have a lot of time to play with my pens… if I didn’t, my collection would surely look different and my inking habits also would. :)
@@Heidejournal I have time to play as well, I use to have 71 to 78 inked each month. Sickness hit, I had to clean and put away all my pens (I hated it), I knew I wasn’t going to be playing (writing with any of them). Now I’m back 😁 for now I’m thinking 30 inked, I’ll be rotating most of them. I can always change my mind (sorta have).
I can’t imagine being without them, even when I was sick, I’d sit at the desk for a minutes, touching my pens.
Change is coming for myself. Looks like I’ll have more than 30 inked. More on that later.
Next we need to make all about paper and inks 🤣
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 I‘m glad you are better now and I always enjoy your videos, whatever the topic… so hit us with some paper and ink content… :D
@@Heidejournal will be. Along with pen shows, I’m going to the San Francisco pen show 😁
Not really the topic you’re addressing here, but what is the transparent yellow pen you have on the right side? 😁💛
It always okay to ask about a pen! If it’s the top tray, it’s Twsbi or bottom to the right green Franklin Christoph. If I’m wrong please let me know which tray.
It must be the green FC; it was just coming through a little yellow. Thank you! It’s really pretty!
@@gailsbookishthings5191 I can see where it’s kinda yellowish with my lights. Prefect ink for it is: platinum citrus black.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290That would be good… I tried a sample of that once and thought it was so fun.
Love that! I'm right there with you.. 👏🏽tell um mind. yo. business LOL (always do you!)
We will keep adding to our collection! We enjoy our fountain pens.
