I've been thinking of getting one of these cheap rugged phones with massive batteries. For someone like me who only has a phone for texts, calling and occasional usage of some banking/public transit app, it will be spending 99.98% of its time just sitting on a table somewhere, waiting in standby in case someone calls/texts me.

It'll handle that kind of tasks like a champ.🙂

I just want a sturdy phone I can use bank applications, whatsapp, calls, texts and take pictures, and listen to music with earbuds for that this seems excellent, gaming I do on my PC

I still use a Pixel 3a. Would this be an upgrade? Not in the mood to spending money.

It would be a downgrade. Keep your 3a.
Also, I don't think you can get a worthwhile upgrade for anything below $300 or so. If you enjoyed you Pixel then I'd look into getting a Pixel 6a or 7a.

The pixel 3a would be better than this phone. Faster processor and much better camera. The only advantage the x12 pro has is being rugged.

I think it's a decent rugged phone for the price. You wouldn't normally use these type of phones for high end gaming. The camera is a bit disappointing, but again, in this price bracket, not really surprising. I do find it funny that they consider this a "pro" phone. It makes me wonder how the regular x12 performs... 🙂
Was the phone heavy, and what was the battery life like?

It was relatively light for its size. A bonus of not having a full-metal body I guess. I've spent limited time with the phone. But from my experience it definitely has a decent battery that can be considered all-day battery life by modern standards. I've done more gaming, photos and video recording with it behind the scenes on that day as well as other tasks. The battery didn't go low.
