What a great video...this one reminds me more of the early days on the AT when Dixie made her own videos and featured other hikers more...not better or worse in my book...all good and different
I keep looking for you to come through Yellowstone. I'm working at Old Faithful General Store, we have many CDT hikers come through but no Dixie yet! Love your videos they get better and better.
I'm sorry but you missed here already...she just passed old faithful yesterday! She ate at the buffet! Is that where you work? No kidding....its info from Patreon.
@@maxpatch67 Well shoot!! I work at Old Faithful General Store (Upper). She was not far away! Im working here through the summer season, taking a break from my real life as a nurse in Tennessee. I'm proud she made it this far and hope she enjoys the beautiful sights of Yellowstone.
Did y'all watch the PCT? The beau at the end of the trail has totally stolen her heart. Watch her body language. Miss Dixie is smart and strong-willed, have to think the young man who she is with is made of the same cloth.
He's a thru hiker too so he'd understand haha! He has a blog called Mayor Hikes, I ran into him at Crater Lake back in '16 and he seemed like a really nice dude.
Dixie over the last 8 months we my wife and have been watching your channel. You are an inspiration. In early spring we started to get together our gear. In May we went to Moutain Crossing on the AT and got fitted for our Backpacks. If anyone out is reading this we live in North West Florida there are not many backpacking outfitters around us. We do travel to Noth Georgia frequently. Mountain Crossing is a great place to start and there prices are very very reasonable. Especially when you figured the wealth of knowledge and experience the staff has. We even went back in late June to buy our trail runners. Ask for Bill he is wonderful. The first week in September we are heading out to North Georgia to tackle our first Backpacking adventure. We have you to thank. Your channel is entertaining informed and inspiring. Thank you thank you. We will post to you how everything goes. Steve and Kristin
Wow. That's opening segment foreshadowing the harshness and brutality of the Great Basin was brilliant. Especially that shot of the sunrise over the barbed wire, that was like a little story in itself. I sense Aaron's expertise in there.
The warmth of the sun, the rumble of thunder, the pleasure of company and sitting under a tree. A shared warm meal and laying out under the light of the moon. The long, long trail leading to crisp Canadian air. Perfect!
I've started saving your videos and watch them over and over. The photography and editing just keep getting better and better. Like watching a hiking movie. I hope to see many many more of these from you. Thanks sooooo much for sharing these adventures with us. Have fun and be safe.
I’m with you on all those pioneers who made the track before us over a century ago, every time I’m out west I too can’t help but think about how those families did it and be amazed while I’m surrounded in comfort of central AC, Starbucks and all the modern conveniences we take for granted as daily normal
I've followed you since the AT, girl you are rocking it. I agree with the folk that say "you are, at this point, a professional" I hope this will lead into a career for you, you found your niche and I hope the outdoor community sees what we all see in you. I do hope you get sponsored by many, or all. Even if it's considered to be a sell out by some, it will provide for you and give us all a glimpse of the crazy and the wild and the untouched, from your perspective, which has been amazing thus far... you just keep on giving us this organic, real content, and we will keep on supporting you. much love D.
I have to confess, I am addicted to Dixies Videos. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm for all things on the trail no matter how big or small is kind of fascinating.
been watching you since day 1 on the AT as a obviously nervous maybe even scared individual about to hit the trail. . your evolution has been fantastic to watch.
Dixie! I finally caught up with you! lol I've watched your AT and PCT playlists, plus up to this video (just published yesterday) on your CDT playlist. I'm really enjoying your updates, and I look forward to them! You've been such an inspiration to me. I don't know if I'll ever do any thru-hikes, but I've started hiking around my local area. Thank you again for your awesome videos!
Hi Dixie! I’ve loved watching your adventures on the PCT and also through my home of NM. I just wanted to drop by to say that while the pioneers were charting new territory for settler colonists, this land was NOT unoccupied. All the lands you have hiked through were originally inhabited by thriving Indigenous communities that were decimated by hundreds of years of genocide because of “manifest destiny’. Please learn more about the lands you are recreating on. All of the animals, plants, and features you see helped these people survive and I am sure there are so many stories tied to those landscapes. This video was shot on the homelands of the Apsaalooke (Crow), Cheyenne, Oceti Sakowin (Sioux), and the Eastern Shoshone. (From the Native Lands App).
Loved this one! The references to cows laying down and Oregon trail tickled me, then you almost made me cry talking about those who walked it before you. Really great video! And loved all the critters!
You really inspire other people, after watching your videos for a long time, I "accidentally" bought a ticket from Miami to Washington and did my first hike in The Enchantments mountains; my legs hurt for a week but it was definitely worthy. Thanks!!!!!!!
As a team, You and Aaron are a documentary force to be reckoned with. I don't know how, but these videos get better and better and better and better... That's not to say that your friend, way back in the AT days didn't do a fantastic job, because she did. Those videos are AWESOME. But just like your experience/quality as a hiker has increased, so have the videos that capture it all. OUTSTANDING!! "Butt water through my sawyer." You're too much!! Oh, and that shot of the barbed wire, coupled with the music was mesmerizing!!
My family came across the great planes, over the Rockies and into the Salt Lake valley. And buried family along the way. Your journeys are no less epic.
Your life chats on the trail are my favorite. I've thought for many years about undertaking the AT. I just found your channel and now I'm making plans.
Another great installment in Dixie's adventure. Great camera work as usual. We are getting spoiled! Love seeing the pronghorns bouncing along. Stay safe and thank you!
"The Trail Provides" is an amazing event that has to be experienced to truly understand. Loved the shadow dancing at the end. Has to be a first for thru-hike videos, at least as far as I have watched. You are an inspiration to all.
Colonel, any updates on the start of your AT hike or is it on indefinite hold for now? I'm heading up to FHT in Octorber if your interested in a 7 day hang and hike.
I have finished binge watching your other thru hikes and am waiting patiently for every update on this one! Love your content and look forward to more!!
Reading comments for earlier today, I'm always amazed that there are always new people that just joined the show. I wonder if any of today's newbies will now go back and binge watch your other 2 thru hikes?
Yep! I watched the documentary of APT couple of days ago, PCT followed suit. Now I watched the single episodes of CDT and next up are all single episodes of the other two hikes. Very entertaining :-), have it running while working. Need my fix of nature while doing boring work!
ChrisfromFL That's what I did. The first episode I saw she was in the Sierra's on the PCT... I spent a day and a half binge watching the rest from start to finish☺
You are an amazing person Jessica. I happened on your videos and was totally impressed. You are so brave. I'm glad you did that when you could. More and more, it's unsafe to walk the streets. My backpack is full of memories when life was good....and trust me. It's still heavy. You lightened it a bit. I binge watched all your trips. God bless you.
Never realized there was so much desert on the CDT. Maybe more than the PCT. At least the Appalachian Trail doesn't have that. Far easier to watch than actually walk it and apparently the toes are better.. It takes guts to drink from those cloudy waterholes, even with water filters. Dixie delivered another good show despite the plain countryside.
Wow! I've been following you since you started the AT and you're such an inspiration and the videos are amazingly beautiful! And the stories and insights you share are so important to me and they have really pushed me further in my "adventuring" in life! Thank you!
Still loving your videos, especially when it has been a stressful week. Between the background music and the way you present yourself, it's just instantly relaxing.
So funny matching the shadows at the end!! Great companions to hike with, and one doesn't usually think desert when you think Wyoming, amazing. Thank you...
"The trail provides" just like it did in the earlier times when the pioneers were the first to trek it. Parents often say they wanted their kids to have it better than they did. It is such an honor, often bestowed posthumously, for the "kids" to reflect upon their parents' hardships and recognize how blessed those "kids" truly are. I suppose you might call it "paying it backward."
Your journeys have been so incredible to watch! It’s been a white knuckles Adventure a few times. I’ve feared for you in dicey situations...you’ve had a couple! You are such an inspiration, just in awe of your fearlessness. More than that, I’m so loving the appreciation you have for the pioneers. They followed their dream just like you. You are a Rockstar, Dixie! Aaron is a Rockstar too! Just phenomenal presentation!
I love your videos! Also, when I flew from Georgia to Alaska a few weeks ago, I sat and watched out the window and wondered where you were down there :) I hope to do a thru hike one day too.
My new mantra watching these hiking videos: Less talking, more walking. But you do catch some of the best wildlife: a tiny little hornitoad and a weasel, I'm impressed. Do you know that the Wyoming pronghorns migrate further than any other land mammal in the US?
Great Video....thanks for sharing....My former scout leader and preacher years ago was cowboy camping and woke up as a large diamond back crawled across his neck ...Thank God he had the presence of mind to remain still as it moved on.
Awesome video Dixie,,you sure made a long stretch of flatland look interesting..There is nothing pathetic about you, your strengths and determination are amazing..I also get lost in thought of the early pioneers that came through without having a clue what was ahead..can just imagine topping a mountain just to see another mountain or two in the distance, and as said with oxen, mules, horses, wagons and generally children of all ages,,the struggle had to be immense...good to see you with others on trail.....Stay Safe and God Bless....
*playing catch up from last week*. Your reflection about being on the Oregon Trail was exactly what I was thinking about since the start of this video. What an amazing experience! I'm not a hiker but I love your videos. Thank you!
Boy friend Kyle? That is a great teaser for an upcoming episode. I really liked the shadow game you were playing at the end. funny. I love the up am down (mostly up) nature of your emotions as you hike. It is nice to see you being candid and talking about the good and bad days and what helps make bad days better. Keep it up. We are all rooting for you.
I feel like that same exact dried carcass is in every single clip I've seen of the great divide basin stretching all the way back to Nat Geo/History Channel in the 90's
Great video, as always! I look forward to them every week. Love the coyote call! My dog came running through the house to the computer when he heard it😂.
Lol...fun and creative shadow play! Well done. Yep, on a stretch like that in wide open country, having good companions along makes a world of difference.
Must feel good to hit the cooler temps. I think you are definitely in the north end of the Great Basin . I'm heading to Nevada's Great Basin National Park in about 3 weeks. The high desert great basin covers about 5 states but mostly Nevada parts of Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, eastern California and Idaho.. Have a great hike to the next stop and a nice hot shower...Cheers!!
Really loved the Oregan Trail reference. When I played it with my two daughters who are around your age, at one point I died. You get to write your epitaph and mine read, "I told you I was sick." Fast forward a few years and one of them was playing it again and...yep. Still there.
I hope Aaron turns up in the next video! I think about those early pioneers, too, when I'm hiking with my technical garments, sleeping bag, PocketRocket stove, etc.
Very good video. Entertaining yourselves as you walk through this stretch is really fun to see. Great views, new friends and a horned toad too. Safe travels.
You definitely have the pioneer spirit, Dixie! Like you, I am so amazed at how much courage it took for those folks to head out across the great unknown, not knowing really what to expect. Thanks for yet another fantastic video. So nice after a particularly bad week! Thank you!
Some of the roads on the Oregon Trail are where the original wagon ruts were. That many wagons passing the same way in the soft soil leave a mark that lasts a while.
As as your videos evolve they're starting to look more and more like professionally done Travel Channel documentaries. They're fantastic.
100% agree
Shes written a book as well :-)
9:10 is absolutely one of the most beautiful scenery ever.
What a great video...this one reminds me more of the early days on the AT when Dixie made her own videos and featured other hikers more...not better or worse in my book...all good and different
Will is right Dixie. I think you and Aaron are gonna give National Geographic some decent competition ☺
I keep looking for you to come through Yellowstone. I'm working at Old Faithful General Store, we have many CDT hikers come through but no Dixie yet! Love your videos they get better and better.
Angie Sackett Let us know Angie if you catch sight of the elusive Dixie Bird. 🌿
She got through the Winds just a few days ago so she should be at Old Faithful in around a week or so.
The sonic boom heard cross 10 states of the hearts breaking when she said boyfriend lol, great video as always 👍✌🇺🇸🌞🌾🌻
bc Florida trails I got a little lump in my throat when she said that !! Kinda like watching my daughter go on her first date.
Lucky guy!
Did y'all watch the PCT? The beau at the end of the trail has totally stolen her heart. Watch her body language. Miss Dixie is smart and strong-willed, have to think the young man who she is with is made of the same cloth.
The poor boyfriend - seldom gets to see her.
He's a thru hiker too so he'd understand haha! He has a blog called Mayor Hikes, I ran into him at Crater Lake back in '16 and he seemed like a really nice dude.

Just watch out for the dysentery. That's what always killed me on the Oregon Trail. LOL
I get that reference
Wow. That's opening segment foreshadowing the harshness and brutality of the Great Basin was brilliant. Especially that shot of the sunrise over the barbed wire, that was like a little story in itself. I sense Aaron's expertise in there.
At 3:50, you had my blue tick hound Daisy Jane howling and looking out the window. It was hilarious. She was on guard for those coyotes.
The warmth of the sun, the rumble of thunder, the pleasure of company and sitting under a tree. A shared warm meal and laying out under the light of the moon. The long, long trail leading to crisp Canadian air. Perfect!
Delightful story. Delightful storyteller. Masterful production. Withdrawal now until next Wednesday. 😊
Absolutely!
I've started saving your videos and watch them over and over. The photography and editing just keep getting better and better. Like watching a hiking movie. I hope to see many many more of these from you.
Thanks sooooo much for sharing these adventures with us.
Have fun and be safe.
Happy Wednesday! That is so cool that there were people from every decade hiking along. Yep, we can get out there and have adventures at any age.
Great to see mature folks on the trail lol. I will be celebrating my 66 birthday on the PCT. hopefully in the sierras where I grew up nearby. #pct2019

The wildlife and scenery that you encounter on your travels are breathtakingly beautiful

In this episode: Dixie makes animal noises; Dixie goes swimming in the desert; and Dixie eats some rice.
(I would also like to point out that the grasshopper failed to get poop shamed. Apparently, butterflies are held to a higher standard...)
Thru hikers have no poop shame...
Dixie also gives the finger to a horned toad
Dixie nonchalantly breaks hearts
I always look for your comment/recap when watching Dixie's video. Always crack me up.
Your life chats on the trail are my favorite. I've thought for many years about undertaking the AT. I just found your channel and now I'm making plans.
I’m addicted to your videos! Not only the scenery being outstanding, but your outlook on everything is an inspiration! Keep up the amazing work!

Dixie, just can't get enough of you hiking! Be careful though that you're not making coyote mating calls, LOL! Hike on, beautiful Dixie!!
Thanks for your videos and narration as they provide a much-needed trail fix. Keep them coming and enjoy the journey.

Where did Perk get to ?
I ran into him at Green River Lakes in the Wind River range at the end of July, he’s really bookin it!
Dixie, my wife and I been following you since your PCT adventure, your vid's are Pro great documentaries as mentioned below, be careful be safe.
always look forward to your updates Dixie...enjoy the adventure
Great vid, as always! Loved that shadow chasing/dancing bit at the end.
Jess, you're my weekly dose of video sunshine, thank you.

^^This!!!! Truth!
I feel like that same exact dried carcass is in every single clip I've seen of the great divide basin stretching all the way back to Nat Geo/History Channel in the 90's
Great video, as always! I look forward to them every week. Love the coyote call! My dog came running through the house to the computer when he heard it😂.
Yes ladies and gentlemen here we are at another grand opening Premiere movie produced by, directed by edited by, Homemade. 👏👏👏👏😎
Lol...fun and creative shadow play! Well done. Yep, on a stretch like that in wide open country, having good companions along makes a world of difference.
I love the direction your videos are going in & love your content! Keep on trekking Dixie ✌😎
Loving your cinematography, Dixie! You keep pushing on and inspiring us all!!!!
Gotta watch those cow gates! They can be tricky!!!!!!! I hit your Patreon a while back.....you're worth every penny.
If I had to choose one of the personalities from RUclips to hang with it would definitely be you....Stay safe and have FUN.
Fjackie13 I wonder how Nightcrawler and Dixie would get along?
Been following you for awhile, starting with your Appalachian trek. Thank you for putting so much work into this and sharing.
I have loved watching your journey over the past few years on these different trails! Keep it up Dixie!❤️❤️
Looks like you and Patches had an awesome time and lots of good memories made with them all. Big Smile. Safe Travels.
Really loved the Oregan Trail reference. When I played it with my two daughters who are around your age, at one point I died. You get to write your epitaph and mine read, "I told you I was sick." Fast forward a few years and one of them was playing it again and...yep. Still there.
Another great video. Love the shadow play at the end.
I love the videos. I struggled with some health issues and your videos make me feel better, thank you for sharing your adventures.
I hope Aaron turns up in the next video! I think about those early pioneers, too, when I'm hiking with my technical garments, sleeping bag, PocketRocket stove, etc.
The playful shadow merging was cute. :)
What a fun video. I look forward to traversing the basin some day. You all are really doing some great videos.
That Oregon trail computer game was my childhood 🙌🏼
Your videos are getting better and better!! And I enjoyed that shadow play at the end!
OMG the shadow thing at the end was awesome!!!!
We are near the device in the Teton and Yellowstone area. Looked for you all today as we drove north and south
awesome, as always I could have watched for a nother 100 minutes... Thanks for Sharin...
Very good video. Entertaining yourselves as you walk through this stretch is really fun to see. Great views, new friends and a horned toad too. Safe travels.
Great stuff Dixie, I might not comment a lot, but I'm still watching all your video's.
Always with you in spirit Jess, you are a pioneer for many of us, keep on truckin ‘
Patches seems like a fun woman to hike around.
The Amazonian/Shield Maiden pose seemed to work well against the wind.
You definitely have the pioneer spirit, Dixie! Like you, I am so amazed at how much courage it took for those folks to head out across the great unknown, not knowing really what to expect. Thanks for yet another fantastic video. So nice after a particularly bad week! Thank you!
Will you ever hike the Divide again? That may be my first thru-hike. I am absolutely fascinated by your experiences.
Oregon trail game was great and my girls loved it.
Another Super video. Excellent cinematography, music and narration. Dixie you rock!!
Great video! Love all the animal shots. Loved the Oregon Trail game. :-)
The shadow thing was cool!
Keep headin’ North . . . Buena suerte . . .
What a great video. Absolutely love the scenery, nature shots, wildlife...simply gorgeous! Enjoy hearing you talk - love that southern twang 🤠
Great video! Shows the Basin so well
Me, seeing that little ferret look-n at you, made me grin too.
Some of the roads on the Oregon Trail are where the original wagon ruts were. That many wagons passing the same way in the soft soil leave a mark that lasts a while.
all the good ones are already taken lol. love the vids can't wait to see next week's adventure
thanks again for the nice videos Dixie
greetings from the Netherlands
Best quote "THE TRAIL PROVIDES" - enough said! !! !!!
You just amaze me, always positive. Stay safe dear. Thanks for sharing your journey. Love & peace ✌🏻
Cool cinematography!
Another great video. Can’t wait to see the Yellowstone footage!
