My brother in law's father fought in the 442nd during WWII as a radio operator. True heroes, every one of them. The single most highly decorated unit in the Army; and many of them had family in the detention camps in the interior of the United States. Glad to see the Samoans keeping the song and story alive.
Kathleen, mahalo for your comment! It is true that many of those from the mainland had families interned, but very few from Hawaii who made up 2/3 of the unit had families interned. www.goforbroke.org/learn/history/military_units/442nd.php www.goforbroke.org/learn/history/military_units/100th.php
American Samoans of the 442nd Infantry singing their Battalion song Go For Broke unchanged since WWII. Samoans are natural and wonderful group singers.
History in every century We recall an act that lives forever more We recall as into night they fall The things that happened on Hawaii shore Let's remember Pearl Harbor As we go to meet the foe Let's remember Pearl Harbor As we did the Alamo We will always remember How they died for liberty Let's remember Pearl Harbor And go on to victory Four Forty Second Infantry We are the boys of Hawaii nei We will fight for you And the red white and blue And will go the front And back to Honolulu-lu-lu Fighting for dear old Uncle Sam Go for broke we don't give a damn We will round up the huns At the point of a gun And victory will be ours Go for broke! Four Four Two! Go for broke! Four Four Two! And victory will be ours.
Best military fight song in American history.

Tried to deploy with the Guam/Saipan detachment back in 2008, as I would’ve been with my brothers if it went through.
History in every century
We recall an act that lives forever more
We recall as into night they fall
The things that happened on Hawaii shore
Let's remember Pearl Harbor
As we go to meet the foe
Let's remember Pearl Harbor
As we did the Alamo
We will always remember
How they died for liberty
Let's remember Pearl Harbor
And go on to victory
Four Forty Second Infantry
We are the boys of Hawaii nei
We will fight for you
And the red white and blue
And will go the front
And back to Honolulu-lu-lu
Fighting for dear old Uncle Sam
Go for broke we don't give a damn
We will round up the huns
At the point of a gun
And victory will be ours
