You're right! A very interesting comment and thought actually because from the 80s, it's the new wave and pop/rock bands of the 80s who had the biggest challenge and odds against them when it came to moving into the 90s. Other new wave or new wave-pop/rock artists that successfully coasted into the 90s were Depeche Mode, Go West, Roxette, INXS, The Pretenders to name a few.
I was a out 13 when this song and video came out. I was probably the only teenage black girl in America rocking this song at that time. This whole album was fire! And thank you for Gail Ann Dorsey rocking that bass!
I picked this up a few years later after it came out on vinyl in France and still have it in my vinyl library. I forgot I had it until my 14 year old niece pulled it out and played it. It still sounds just as good as it did when it came out.
I love this song and I remember hearing it for the first time back in 1993!! Such a great song!! I can't believe that it only has about a 1,000 likes!!!
@@tendraftsdeep I remember that summer. It was hotter than hell around here in the ATL area that year. It seems like those summers during the 80s and early 90s were all much hotter than they are now. A heat advisory was the norm back then.
That's one of their best songs I love the beat to this the lyrics are great. The snare drum fills are good I don't know if they are produced by a drum machine or actual drums.
This would always be playing on the radio when i was waking up for work at 18. To this day it takes me back there each and everytime i hear it which is often because i bathe myself in 80's music all day everyday😊 and obviously some 90's too.
Helped me get through those cold , lonely, stressful days in college. Had no money, only hopes , and dreams and my Sony Walkman blasting Elemental as I walked to class along Riverside Drive. Thanks Roland for your talent.
I remember the 1st time I heard this in college back in 93. I was away from home for the 1st time as a young adult. Seem like an appropriate coming of age song for me at my life. Still a great song today.
When you think back to the year that was 1993......this song consistently must be playing in your head. Just like it did back then as well. One of TFF's finer tunes for sure. 🙂
This song has magical powers, it resonates soundwave energy that initiates a temporal rift portal accessing a vortex in space-time which allows travel through past present and future all at the same time.
I was in 12th grade when this came out, or at least when I first heard it. Graduation was a month away and for whatever, this was one of the songs that really resonated with me then. It still does.
We only seem to hear Songs from the Big Chair these days. Anything they did, not from the 80s, unfairly gets ignored. I used to hear this as a kid when it came out.
Devin Svennson I’m 18 and I love all of their songs, newer or old. Roland was so talented with lyrics and I loved Curt’s bass. This is one of my favorite songs, sad Curt left though. TFF have helped me through a lot and have earned the title of my favorite band of all time
This is actually one of my favorite T.F.F songs. Takes me back to 93 and being a kid but just love the lyrics. Just shows how we get caught up in goals and ego and sometimes just need to pause and restart.
@@planetdog1641 yes. Being a teacher a little is stressful at times. It also had to do with have the proper coping mechanisms to deal with said anxiety
I think this guy is so good looking. If I were his wife I'd be like "sing to me baby," then the bedroom door would close. But for real I love TFF, and Roland's voice.
This song is far beyond the comprehension of a person stuck in the Matrix. Roland, you’re a Legend and an incredible artist.
This song, "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran, and "Regret" by New Order gave me a little hope that the 80s music wasn't dead yet in 1993...

Yes, this, Regret and Ordinary World are one of my favorites. A-ha also released 2 very good albums in the early 90s.
Same.
A truly underrated gem from these guys.. Brings back such good memories.
Best album ever off the 90s
Incredibly underappreciated song by these guys.

Same here!
Gail Dorsey has some SMOOTH on that bass. ^^^
You want to see GAD rock some extra bass, look up her performing Under Pressure wuth David Bowie!

we all felt that way. but we actually arent that unique.
LONG LIVE TEARS FOR FEARS!!! - - FROM THE PHILIPPINES!!!
Roland in this song kills it!! Still love this song to this day.
I love this song and I remember hearing it for the first time back in 1993!! Such a great song!! I can't believe that it only has about a 1,000 likes!!!
In my opinion it's one of their best..
I used to hear this at work all the time in the summer of 1993. Every time I hear this song, it takes me right back there.
I saw them in 1993. Long hot summer that was. Concert in Atlanta GA.

@@1cardplayer I agree!
This band is amazing.

One of best voices of my generation.
ABSOLUTELY ❤

I remember this song. 1993 the year I graduated high school. That is what about this era. Many 80's bands still had hits in the early 90's.
I remember the 1st time I heard this in college back in 93. I was away from home for the 1st time as a young adult. Seem like an appropriate coming of age song for me at my life. Still a great song today.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
This song is timeless! Sounds as good today as it did in 1993. I would love to hear the back story of how this song came about!

Nice way to put it✌Just like Moses on a motorbike.
This song is fabulous. So happy to rediscover it. It’s going into rotation now.
Truth. Fantastic song especially after all these years.Moses on a motorbike
❤
Btw, thats Gail from David Bowie playing Bass, A living legend 👏
I was in 12th grade when this came out, or at least when I first heard it.
Graduation was a month away and for whatever, this was one of the songs that really resonated with me then.
It still does.
Great song 🎵 👌
stunning.
great song, great video takes me back to 1993.
Great art starting it out. This song has lots of juice. .
I remember the summer of 1943 and this video was everywhere on MTV. These young Boomers don’t know good music.

Oingo Boingo and Danny Elfman same deal...last album from about the same time frame was so much more complex the Dead Man's Party, and Weird Science
Perks me up everytime, thank you Roland :) 🫶
This song is timeless
Blessed in..........2020!!!!!!......and my whole life with this music!!
Great choice for first single off this album. And Roland looks better here than ever.
It really is a bother that a majority of the newer T.F.Fs. songs are overlooked.
they're my favorites.
You were my youth, thank you.
Just took a two month leave from teaching. My anxiety was bad. This tracked was played hundreds of times. It always made me feel better.
was it the job causing the anxiety?

Hot tips for the boys! This is a great song.
that is a great song, great video takes me back to 1963.
Roland so gorgeous and handsome ❤❤❤❤
Awesome track that deserves more love. I just wish that Curt, Ian and Manny were with Roland here.
His hair was so superlative!
And he knew it!
I’d say still is! All White/grey now.
Thanks so much for this....a fun song and great memories from this time...
Somebody gets it
I swear i hear Curt singing that part that goes "break it down again"
Sadly, no. Curt wasn't in the band during this album/time.
I think this guy is so good looking. If I were his wife I'd be like "sing to me baby," then the bedroom door would close. But for real I love TFF, and Roland's voice.
Obsessed ❤ love the track #TearsForFears no more sleepy dreaming
Wow, I always thought this song was sung by the duo and not one member. I also just learned they had a brief split 🤯
Still one of my favorites!! 🤗
What times good it!.
Muito legal!!!. Tears for Fears. Vozes lindas. Arranjo show!!!. Ouço sempre!!!👍❤👏👏👏
This song’s is great, classic.
I just realized I've never seen the video.
The beginning of this reminds me of PSB "Legacy" on their Yes! album
He got soul
Bust up through Heaven
like Moses on a motorbike...

80s
Who else is here to say "who else is here" ?
Just a bit sad that tbis is around tge time curt broke away, but im happy tgey got back together
Curt called in sick that day.
For over a decade
Chicane sampled this song in “From Where I Stand”
I didn't know that. Now i gotta go listen to Chicane for a bit.
1993 when i was in 7th grade.
Where’s the other guy
Inspired peice of music! (sorry about the spelling.....I suck! )
Where's the other singer?
"Why is that sounding like a tube, I wonder"
Back when Santa Fe had the Warbonnett paint schemes.
Anyone notice someone seems to be missing in the video?...
Yea Curt, but this was when curt left tears for fears.
Where the heck is Curt??!?!?!??!?!?
they broke up in like ‘92 but got back together in like 2000
Break it down Again! Free Palestine!! 💪🏾
ummm wheres curt??
He took a break from the band during this album; I believe he was going through a divorce
Amazing song. Perhaps their very best.
Video is a disjointed mess though.
Disjointed as in... Needing to be broken down and put back together better?
Everything Roland does is with purpose.
I like it.
@@GavinSteiner Stellar comment. 👏
This was very much the early 90's look.
