Lifelong Milwaukee resident here, MPM was my everything growing up, and it breaks my heart that this current iteration won't be accessible to future generations. Hopefully the new location will be a fraction of its predecessor. Their staff is wonderful and brilliant, so I am excited to see what they build for us!
I love your love for this museum! I was obsessed with it since I was a kid. In the first grade, I bought a replica velociraptor claw from the gift shop, and I carried it with me to school every day in my backpack (pretending to be Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park.) Very very sad to see it go, but I’m glad I got to share it with my young niece and nephews before the big change!
It seems kind of fitting that the box for your new laptop says in search of incredible, j Jacob, because that's exactly what you do. You search out all the incredible places in this great country of ours, and you're kind enough to share it with us. You have my sympathies for the museum moving. I can't imagine how upset I'd be if my childhood museums were irrevocably changing like that. Merry Christmas my friend and much love.
This is a core memory from my youth. Our school visited this museum back in the day. The old world streets was mind blowing to me. I thank you for sharing this ❤
Thanks for sharing, Jacob. Great to see your brother Jack as well. Your visits to the Milwaukee Public Museum are always a lot of fun! I especially enjoy the Streets of Old Milwaukee. Merry Christmas!
My brother and I went there a month or two ago. The main exhibits never change but it's always like I'm seeing it for the first time. I saw the plans for the new place and ugh. It won't be the same.
I've ALWAYS loved your trips to The Milwaukee Public Museum ❤ my favorite has always been the old time street display. It makes me feel all warm & cozy. Enjoy your Christmas 🎄 with the family. Merry Christmas to all. ✌️❤️🙂
We used to have this really cool old style natural history museum in The Netherlands and after they completely redid it, they ripped the soul straight out of it and now it's all modern and aweful. Let's hope this museum won't have the same fate.
Thank you for sharing your fantastic videos with all of us throughout the years. I absolutely love your video of The Milwaukee Public Museum. I have never been there but saddened that the Old Milwaukee Street scenes will not go to the new building. I find that just as fascinating as any other part of the museum. Please have a Very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
Love these old museums also.Very cool village houses and displays. Love the diaremas. Truly an incredibile museum! It is huge! I see similarity in your brother.
Great video, Jacob. Love seeing your videos. They really make my day. Till the next one, take care, my friend, and enjoy your holiday with your family , safe travels, my friend .
I have so many memories from that museum. I remember when the European Village went in there back in the 1970s. I was in sixth grade and we went for a field trip and we had to write a report about a choice country and the house for that country in the exhibit. EDIT: The old lady rocking in front of the house was indeed scarier back in the day!
Thank you for going to my childhood museum! Havent been there since i was pregnant with my daughter 27 years ago. I loved the dinosaurs and the hallway where it gets deeper underwater.❤
I moved to the Third Ward from LA in 2019, and I've returned dozens of times on their free first Thursdays of the month. I agree with your wonderment for this museum, it IS special! I just discovered the creepy cat next to the barbershop after wondering where he was hiding and meowing from. The gory T-Rex display is stellar!
I thought CB might be overcompensating for nostalgia, but this museum REALLY is amazing. Probably shouldn't have doubted the guy with an "eum rule". Thanks for the walk though!
Fun fact my teacher assistant from elementary school said that since she was Native American the museum used here face to make one of the native Americans in the pow wow 47:17
I live northwest of Milwaukee and filmed the Museum for my channel last year. I will miss the Streets of Old Milwaukee the most. It would have nice to have run into you while in WI. Any plans to be at the grand opening at the first Wisconsin Buc-Ees in Middleton?
We just recently went through the same thing with our local children's museum, that was built inside an old four story schoolhouse and it was very unique. They built a new one and closed the old location last month 😢
It really is a shame this place is closing down. I always enjoy when you visit here. The easter eggs are a nice touch. It's nice to see Jack as well. 😊
I was born in 1952 and remember the old museum in the Public Library. I remember the T Rex eating the other dino when it was a new exhibit. I was fearful of mannequins but then I did taxidermy and had mannequins of my own in the 1970's. I was invited to the Museum art dept. where I learned how to make mannequins. The museum was where I was influenced to make miniatures too.
I think the Native Americans choosing to have their items removed from museums is counterproductive to the preservation, and wider understanding of their culture. If people don’t see these things, they’re less likely to learn about them, and less likely to give a passing thought to the cultures that made them. As a result of items being removed, far less space will be dedicated to the tribes of the area in the new museum, and their visibility in Milwaukee’s history (and any other place where the removals have happened) will be diminished by this, which is sad.
I understand what you are saying but there is a long history of Native Americans having their history erased, disrespected and misrepresented. I think there is also issues with these items never should have been taken from the tribes. I do hope the tribes will work with museums to create more balanced exhibits in the future
The Milwaukee taxidermy collection was some of the first Akeley method mounts ever so my taxidermy conservator heart is glad they seem to be keeping them since a lot of museums neglect taxidermy specimens these days. Hopefully the mounts also get the lovely restoration that the AMNH Akeleys got too. And to answer your question, this is still how taxidermy is done today! Most taxidermists don’t need to sculpt much since they can buy the forms ready made and then modify them as needed though the option of doing everything yourself is always possible if you have something super unique. The forms are usually made of urethane foam or something similar since that frees up the taxidermist to make more dynamic poses!
Carpetbager the Bonus Footage of the 🚨 Sirens was great. You seen more Polar Animals than Adam seen in Alaska. Someone needs to make a rattlesnake app, that is a nice museum and it's great that you got to film it before the move to the new building. Another great background sound on your museum tour was the voice saying, "See the early showing of the Dark Side Of The Moon." Oh, you and your friend walking around made me think of the Movie 🎬 American Warewolf in London. Cool Cool Jacob, I liked that tour!
What an awesome museum. I feel the same way about my childhood museum which is Peabody Yale New Haven, CT. Such great memories and images burned into my brain.
i felt this way when they redid COSI in Columbus. we used to go there several times a year and when they moved to a new building it was just not the same
Thank you for this video and teaching me things about the museum that I didn't know. I've been living in Milwaukee for a few years now and I've been meaning to visit again, I surely will on the first Thursday of next month. I love this museum. Anyway, one time I opened the old ladies gate when I was a kid and an alarm instantly went off. Do not try it.
Such a fun watch. Now I’m going to have to make a trip before they switch buildings. It was def a part of my childhood. I ended up studying anthropology briefly and got to work behind the scenes which was cool. You mentioned all the stuff I thought was spooky as a kid. 😂 I thought those shrunken heads were fake !
Hey Jacob, I love the vlog, I hope they save the beautiful Marshall Fredrick sculpture on the side of building of the Indian and geese! Have you gone to his museum in Saginaw ! The spirit of Detroit statue downtown is his famous one!
Hey, Jacob, at the risk of offending those with “Delicate Sensibilities”, I got a chuckle from your Dark Humor comment about hoping the butterflies, “make the cut”, and that they don’t end up, “gassing ’em.” I completely understand that you were just joking, making a comment in line with the museum’s decidedly Dark Tone in its exhibits, showing the Reality of Nature’s Predatory Eventuality, everything dies, and sometimes get killed, rather brutally. I know the museum holds extremely fond memories for you, representing some of your happiest childhood memories. Perhaps you’re right, the museum was definitely instrumental in shaping your outlook on Life. I hope you can make it back a few more times before the move, but if not, this was an excellent final excursion. Stay safe and happy travels. 👋
I remember when I was a child in the 60’s we would have family get togethers an my dad would get a case of Schlitz beer great memories Brian from Northeast Ohio 👍👍👍
Thank you for sharing this Jacob! The new museum they are planning (or at least the curator is planning) will no longer have old world milwaukee, any of the dinosaur dioramas, or a lot of the cultural dioramas. It's incredibly unfortunate from an educational perspective but they do need more space. The idea is they will be able to rotate the exhibits with their collections. I really hope they reconsider getting rid of old world Wisconsin. Would love to see you do a walk through of the Milwaukee County Zoo! They've updated the penguins at the entrance and are giving the animals more space!
Also that second gorilla, growing up my mom always told me that's Samson taxidermied. The one downstairs is a recreation of him. I'm not sure if that's true though? I just remember my mom telling me that as a kid.
It always kind of scares me when museums say they are moving/renovating since that usually means they minimize what they have to see. I feel like when I visit museums I like there to be something to see no matter where you look, and to my dismay the current trend is "less is more"- don't really understand this because I'd think if there were more exhibits and artifacts it would draw repeat visits more frequently? Hopefully this museum keeps as many of their exhibits as possible when they move to their new location.
Thank you for all the visits here for the people who will never be able to experience the original museum and what it really felt like
Lifelong Milwaukee resident here, MPM was my everything growing up, and it breaks my heart that this current iteration won't be accessible to future generations. Hopefully the new location will be a fraction of its predecessor. Their staff is wonderful and brilliant, so I am excited to see what they build for us!
Thank you for all the visits here in the US that will never get to see the Milwaukee Public Museum. Happy Holidays Jacob!

I’m glad you guys can enjoy this nostalgic museum

This was a special trip. Enjoyed every minute. So nice to see Jack with you as well. Safe travels and Merry Christmas to you Jen and your family.
This is a core memory from my youth. Our school visited this museum back in the day. The old world streets was mind blowing to me. I thank you for sharing this ❤
Thank you for yet another great adventure! Merry Christmas Jacob!
Thanks for sharing, Jacob. Great to see your brother Jack as well. Your visits to the Milwaukee Public Museum are always a lot of fun! I especially enjoy the Streets of Old Milwaukee.
Merry Christmas!

I saw Sampson, and he used to slam his fist on the glass enclosure. Scared us to death.
We used to have this really cool old style natural history museum in The Netherlands and after they completely redid it, they ripped the soul straight out of it and now it's all modern and aweful. Let's hope this museum won't have the same fate.
Fun fact the Czech house actually has stuff in it from my family
I imagine you're proud of that. I know I would be.
Thank you for sharing your fantastic videos with all of us throughout the years. I absolutely love your video of The Milwaukee Public Museum. I have never been there but saddened that the Old Milwaukee Street scenes will not go to the new building. I find that just as fascinating as any other part of the museum. Happy holidays to you and your little brother Jack. I hope you both love the new one. But its so nice you will both have this as a memory together.
Good morning Jacob 🤓📸 it must be so cold up there 🥶 thanks for sharing this Milwaukee museum. You take care my friend. Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
Merry Christmas Jacob and Jenn🎄🌟❄️
Thanks for reminding me of my trips to the natural history museum as a kid! Like you, some of my best memories were spent there.
It's always amazing to see another amazing video carpetbagger I won't to wish you Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you for sharing. I wouldn't be able to see any of these places without you so THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Huge and fun museum. It may be even greater with the update.
Thanks for the videos.
Wonderful museum. And you got to enjoy it with your brother. Merry Christmas

I’m so bummed they’re getting rid of the European Village ☹️
Awesome video as always Jacob and safe travels to you and Jen
I’m sorry your laptop crapped out on you! Thanks for sharing all your trips with us, they are much appreciated.
So sad to see it leaving, was a fantastic museum.
Awesome video thanks for sharing I am glad you had some fun with your brother
The butterflies loved Jack! So happy you brought your brother today 👐🏼🫶🏻
Thank you for going to my childhood museum! Havent been there since i was pregnant with my daughter 27 years ago. I loved the dinosaurs and the hallway where it gets deeper underwater.❤
Hey carpet bagger love your content . Would you consider visiting more museums. And zoos thankyou . Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year

Heyyyyy man keep the work up bee watching since 2016🎉❤
I like the old Victorian looking museum displays too. great video!
I thought CB might be overcompensating for nostalgia, but this museum REALLY is amazing. Probably shouldn't have doubted the guy with an "eum rule". Thanks for the walk though!
thanks for sharing. makes me sad im missing places like this 😢 hidden gems across the continent that wont always be there
I'm sorry your favorite museum is moving but, I'm glad you got to see it again.
Happy Holidays 🎄
It's like watching Jacob the Carpetbagger's origin story!
20:26 That creepy cat legitimately would’ve made me scream lol
Fun fact my teacher assistant from elementary school said that since she was Native American the museum used here face to make one of the native Americans in the pow wow
47:17
I love the Milwaukee Museum. I have gone so many times. I'm going to have to take my grandbabies before they close. 😢
You did notice the cat in the bakery. I went back to a video from 5 years ago, and you point out the taxidermy cat
This is definitely a nostalgic museum for me as well!
I live northwest of Milwaukee and filmed the Museum for my channel last year. I will miss the Streets of Old Milwaukee the most. It would have nice to have run into you while in WI. Any plans to be at the grand opening at the first Wisconsin Buc-Ees in Middleton?
At least we will have it on video thanks to you! Hope that the new version isn’t a disappointment for you.
Amazing museum. Thanks, Jacob.

Awesome. Thank you Carpet Bagger.
36:18 I have that same movie on VHS! It's called "Dinosaurs" and it has Fred Savage in it.
It really is a shame this place is closing down. I always enjoy when you visit here. The easter eggs are a nice touch. It's nice to see Jack as well. 😊

Best museum ever.
Feels weird being this early. I usually see these at least an hour after they're uploaded.
This is some museum !
Have friends in Muskego & now I wonder if they have been here !
This museum is worth seeing!
Watch all of it ! New location , too small , Jacob ! That is not good!
A Modest Mouse reference!?! Most excellent.

If they're shutting down you should ask them if they are getting rid of your squids, perhaps they'd donate one to the bunker
It would be nice if the auctioned off pieces for people that want little rememberances of the old place.
We appreciated the Modest Mouse lyrics! You're the best!

Hi from Wheatfield, stay warm and safe!
My lap top cracked in the back had to get rid of it not long after getting a new cord now have to save for a new one
Always mind you mummy!
What an awesome museum. I feel the same way about my childhood museum which is Peabody Yale New Haven, CT. Such great memories and images burned into my brain.
I’m had no idea this place existed! 😮 I want to visit so bad.
My christmas wish is for Carpetbagger to get the opportunity to be a beaver, and swim into his beaver den.
Was Schlitz the Beer Company that Lavern & Shirley worked at it looks familiar & I remember they were out of Milwaukee.
i felt this way when they redid COSI in Columbus. we used to go there several times a year and when they moved to a new building it was just not the same

I do like the older museums a lot.

£80 max fix on the power jack input in the U.K. - our computer repair shop see tons of these.
I remember when I was a child in the 60’s we would have family get togethers
an my dad would get a case of Schlitz beer great memories
Brian from Northeast Ohio 👍👍👍
You could say that Simba the lion did the "circle of life" as he started life at the museum and ended it there. 😉.
Watching this make me wanna go buy a ticket today
So they are building a new one? I hope so. I went at least once a year growing up for a school field trip. It is such a great museum.
Regarding your laptop, did you try replacing the battery? Is it possible to change it out? Because it sounds like the battery is your problem.
Good evening Jacob and Jenn
Thank you for sharing this Jacob! We have always had snow and they still suck at cleaning it up lol and it's been like this for so many decades sadly

I was HOPING you would show the Rattlesnake!
Jack passed the Disney princess test got the butterfly to land on him.
Thanks!
You should go to White Fish Point in Michigan and go to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum!
Hi Jack ✌️
18 years apart, yet same taste in glasses 🤓🫶😆
I hope you deduct the cost of the new laptop off your income taxes, since it literally is a business expense.
I grew up seeing all of this
