I was really glad to see that someone asked him about his support staff. I can't help but think that if IU is going to pay this kind of money they are going to make sure that he is surrounded by his guys. If the school is really committed to putting a quality team on the field they need to give him the tools he wants
He's a very confident guy and I wish him success as the Hoosier football coach. The challenge to lead IU to football prominence will be an immense one. The Sun Belt Conference is not the Big 10 Conference.
Seriously? OMG! The Sun Belt is not the same as the Big 10? What other myths are you determined to dispell? Dark is not the same as light? Good is different than Evil? Will this madness ever cease!
Congrats coach! You got a nice pay raise, you'll probably be there around 4-5 years, then get fired, then you can go back to winning at a smaller school. Go Hoosiers!
Lol, he has reheased this speach 100' ot times. Trying to get clear he is doss. 4 min telling who has beat and who he helped recruit. Think he is even suggested the his jeans has ( produced really smart daughters. Never hurd a introduction press conference like this. Lol i love it . He even talks and sounds like he talking to players. I love it best ever. What makes it so good is the fact that this guy is really a winner . blank !! Infact pretty much everything he said is true outside the gene pool lol. The stuff he has done just a JMU is remarkable few could have brought in, developed, and won with. And his JMU teams did have a brand... Im not sure how good he will be able to recruit at Indiana football, not basketball . But as he said stars dosent mean anything. He finds talent, talent the FITS his team. With all this said they are two questions marks. 1st how mant staff members from his recruiting staff came along 2nd if fans and the Athletic department give him enough time to get his 1st full season of recruits till they are Srs at least Jrs. I dont think the big trophy is in site but i bet NOONE will want to play them with season on line. Like ODU, Peen st, Mich. They will beat at teast on every year constantly. Congratulations great hire
I guess we shall see. IU has a tough conference and they’re just not a desirable place. Going to be hard to get talent and you need talent to be better than 8-4.
This is the exact mentality that has to be changed!! 5 plus million a year is not desirable!?? Get the players that fit and get the wins!! IU has been but should not be a doormat in the B1G!!
@@beowulf3303I mean in theory, sure. But IU will never be more than that. And of course $5 million is desirable to someone who isn’t making $5 million lol. But to believe any coach is going to make them better than a 9 win team after conference expansion is laughable.
@@toddshadley6381 I'd be satisfied with 6 or 7 wins per year and an occasional 8 or 9 win season. I'm not buying into the "Cignetti model" being as successful turning around IU in a highly competitive NCAA environment. Cignetti is not comparing apples with apples.
Are you saying that the Big 10 is tough? Are also saying that it's difficult to have a record that's better than 8-4 in the Big 10? Wow. Perhaps you could share some more deep thoughts?
@michaelkolacz4449 1000% agree. This place needs $300M in Facilities upgrades. Can someone talk to the married couple of Simon-Skjodt and see if they will give the 1st $100M.
and from a coach nonetheless! I guess you missed the title of this video "Curt Cignetti introduced as new IU football head COACH" It's okay. It's not your fault. There are some kinds of stupid that can't be taught
This guy should of stayed at James Madison. You do realize you will be coaching Indiana a bottom feeder in the Big 10.You lost to Michigan state this year that how bad it is.
Can't wait to look back a year from now and see what JMU's record is. Will you still be giving reviews about the subtle nuances of sour grapes or will you have taken your troll show elsewhere?
Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc. aren't going to stand still. Cignetti has a major challenge trying to duplicate his success model at IU which has a history of losing.
@jamesfox5105 Everything said in this comment is why he’s there. He wants the opportunity to be in a bigger pond vs bigger fish. If Indiana were good he wouldn’t be there. Programs change and improve and even regress all the time. You mention Michigan state? It wasn’t THAT long ago they had a playoff appearance. Things change in this game all the time. Given the context of the program history at Indiana, he likely knows that if he can build them to just consistently winning 8+ games a year with sneaking in a 10+ win season once in a blue moon and stays long term he’s likely getting a statue built of him in Bloomington. Look up the history of Kansas State football prior to Bill Snyder or Wisconsin football prior to Barry Alvarez. A more modern example Lance Leipold at Kansas is well on his way to that type of path if he chooses to stay with the Jayhawks. Matt Campbell at Iowa State has also consistently overachieved relative to that program’s history. This year you can even argue was one of Campbells best coaching jobs considering he dealt with the betting scandal that made him lose key players. Bottom line, things change and every down program is only 1 good hire plus institutional support and resources away from being successful. Also, every program is 1 bad bad hire plus institutional instability away from falling on hard times after being competitive (Michigan State) Time will tell. I wish him well because the B10 is a league that can use some more bottom to mid-tier programs to start pulling their weight to add some quality depth. Future additions aside, this league outside of Mich, OSU, Penn St, and I’ll even be kind and toss Iowa in there is pretty bad to be honest. There’s more than enough room for a few from some of other 10 teams could step up and make the league better.
Loving the way this sounds for my Hoosiers❤❤
Best wishes Coach. Always in our hearts!❤
