Great to finally find someone in Texas zone 8! New to Texas and zone 8. Just here 2 years and everything I know about gardening is from Michigan 😂 extremely out of my element.
I have a container of Rudbeckia Autumn Colors sitting in my kitchen floor, in front of patio door. Love Rudbeckia ❤. Its still blooming. I just started 2 more varieties of Rudbeckia for the spring. I cold moist stratified them...learned how to do this from Amanda, thanks Amanda 🎉. By the way, this is the first time I have ever grown Rudbeckia.
Great tips, as always Amanda! I have a raised bed and I've been slowly buying (or finding) container to use as well. Looking forward to all the beautiful blooms! I'm trying gomphrena this year to add to my usual zinnias, sunflowers and cosmos!
Hi Just a little side note.. Tekst From the maritimegardening… growing zones tell you how cold it can get. This is important when choosing perennials, because they will not survive the winter if they are not hardy enough for the growing zone where they are being planted. For annuals (the plants that most vegetable gardeners grow during the growing season), the growing zone is far less important than how much sun is available to the plants, and how much heat there is in the soil. The growing zone does not measure those factors, and in fact, in can be the case that a “cold” growing zone actually has more sun and heat during the growing season than a “hot” growing zone.
@shesamadgardener no. I am. 😄 I'm sorry. Comments can be sarcastic and such, but HDR (especially on the phone) looks so bad, and with some of the issues I've been having with my health and its effect on my eyes, I appreciate this video not being HDR.
Ooh yes! Second Prairie Sun rudbeckia. I was stunned how large and bright they looked in the garden!
They are definitely stunning!
🌻Thank you Amanda

Whoa!!! It’s so chilly!
Cosmos, are.they cut n come again type flowr if you cut them lower? Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Great video
They definitely are!
Good job. You’re a little crazy though with your heavy coat but no socks!
I guess that's just my style! 😉 😂
Hi - do you cut echinacea down to ground after a frost?
I don’t, I usually leave it up because birds like the seeds in the flower heads. But you can cut it back if you want.
My zinnias got crazy tall almost out of control ❤
Awesome!!!
